We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Much more good educational and edifying stuff this time.

The Good:
What does it mean that “God is the head of Christ”?

The 400 “years of silence” between the O.T. and the N.T.

Responding to the question, “Who Created God?

The number one crime — Naming names.

Colossians 2:8 does not condemn philosophy.  I never thought it did, but obviously there are people out there who think it does.

Annihilationism vs hell — collection of articles proving the former wrong.

The Unification Church, i.e., “Moonies.”  A good introduction to them.

The Bad and/or Ugly
I have previously written why Christians cannot justify voting Demokrat, yet Emergent “pastor” Doug Pagitt is doing his best to get Christians to vote for this ungodly political party. Of course the fact that he is doing this in cahoots with the apostate and heretical United Church of Christ should tell you a lot about his beliefs.

Yes, Tim Keller is a Marxist. Here’s a prime example of his promotion of “social justice.”

AAANNNDDD Matt Chandler.  Sigh. (And Chandler thinks Obama is a great man!!!)

More Beth Moore nonsense.  Guess what—NO one man can ask forgiveness for all men who have behaved badly. Kevin Jones behaved foolishly (obviously has no spine), but it’s all part of Moore’s emotion-driving “ministry.” Read more about this situation and an overall look at Moore’s continued descent into “social justice” nonsense. Then there is this:
Can you say, “BLASPHEMY”?

Oh Lordy! I cannot believe how Bible Gateway accepts "The Message" as a valid translation:

"The original version of The Message was printed without the traditional numbered verses, making it read more like a novel. Many people found this refreshing at first, but also found it inconvenient for cross-referencing, comparison with other versions, and group Bible studies. As far as the negatives are concerned, there are numerous websites and articles devoted to the translation errors in The Message, too numerous to reiterate here. Suffice it to say that The Message has engendered more criticism for its lack of serious scholarship and outright bizarre renderings than just about any other Bible version to date. One common complaint from many who read The Message or hear it read aloud is “I didn’t recognize it as the Bible.” Other critics declare The Message to be not a paraphrase of what the Bible says, but more of a rendering of what Eugene Peterson would like it to say. In an interview with Christianity Today, Peterson described the beginning of the creative process that produced The Message: “I just kind of let go and became playful. And that was when the Sermon on the Mount started. I remember I was down in my basement study, and I did the Beatitudes in about ten minutes. And all of a sudden I realized this could work.” Aside from the impossibility of doing justice to the Sermon on the Mount in ten minutes, one wonders whether playfulness is the appropriate demeanor for those who attempt to “rightly divide the word of Truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Awe and reverence for a holy God and His holy Word, yes. Playfulness? No."

They also accept "The Passion Translation" and "The Voice," and who knows how many others in their list are off-the-wall?
