We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It often really gets disheartening to see all the false teachings followed by Christians who refuse to use discernment!  Yet here we go with another episode exposing the WOLVES -- false teachers and groups who are leading so many to spiritual dangers.

My first example is Jen Hatmaker, who is just as dangerous as Beth Moore.  Avoid her like the plague.

A follow-up on Ronnie Floyd’s IHOP visit.  HT to Marsha

Examining Tommy Tenney’s book, The God Chasers.

Why do the leadership of the United Methodist Church even allow these people to remain as members?  If they are sanctioning homosexuality, excommunicate them.  Period.  This has been a growing apostasy in the UMC and they don’t do a thing to stop it because the are more interested in preaching the false social gospel!

One of the heresies of the United Church of Christ Satan:

Are other religious writings of from God?  NO!

Who are the children of God?  Not everyone, as the liberal theologians and other religions claim.

Jim Bakker is still a false teacher.  Too bad he wasn’t kept in prison.

More on David Barton, who is a favorite with many homeschoolers.  He is NOT to be trusted for historical information, and now he even has own show on the heretical Trinity Broadcasting Network.  The fact that Barton thinks Mormon Glenn Beck is a Christian says a lot about Barton’s ignorance of history.  Even worse is his praying an anointing over Beck!  So, along with not being able to trusted with things historical, he also can’t be trusted with things spiritual.

Systematic Deception: Speaking in Tongues.  Long article, but worthwhile.

This is what passes for “tongues and other manifestations of the Holy Spirit in so much of the charismatic world.  I’d say these are actually manifestations of demonic spirits.

Along this line, Gary Gilley has a good examination of the Word of Faith cult.

Doug Evans has a short examination of the Disciples of Christ denomination as he exposes “The Christian Left.”  The “C Left” say they agree with DoC theology, which is liberal enough for them as they try in vain to maintain their claim to real Christianity.

“Pray for ‘traveling mercies’” is a request which has always driven me crazy.  What does it mean?!?!  What is a “traveling mercy”?!?  Please, Christians, quit using this fad phrase.

I’ve been warning about false teacher Jonathan Cahn for quite some time.  He just gets worse.

While cleaning out some files I came across this excellent critique of Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Life.

Another reason to avoid Francis Chan’s teachings — he has no discernment.

Charisma magazine has long been known for promoting false teachings of every kind.  Now they think Jesus wants to give you golden tickets.

False teachers don’t know what real “church” is for.  This is a perfect example of the demonic ideas false teachers come up with.  I have to really wonder what sort of “pastor” she was married to.

Lastly for today, Liberty University really should confess that they couldn’t care less about the true Christian faith.  They were upset about the professor’s statements about Christianity and Islam worshipping the same God, but they are excited about continually bringing in false teachers [link gone by 7/16/18] of every ilk!  HT to Marsha.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Fasten your seat belts, ladies and gents — this is going to be a wild ride!

Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd, was a featured speaker at the NAR IHOP conference.  Mr. Floyd has done nothing but give credence and tacit approval to false prophets and false teachers, and he should be rebuked for such actions — but the SBC remains silent.

Seems lots of Episcopalians have a love affair with Islam.

More on InterVarsity Fellowship and “Black Lives Matter.

Mary Dalke has been working on adding more to her post on discernment.  She has some good information and videos about various heretical church leaders — leaders undiscerning people listen to with baited breath while following them like any other cult leader.  The “fun” part is that these heretics are nothing but a mutual admiration society.

Bill Hybels is more of a motivational speaker (sort of like Joel Osteen) than he is a pastor.

Um, no — we are NOT “all God’s children.”  HT to Marsha West.

The main German Church has gone completely apostate rebelling against God and sanctioning homosexuality.

Someone sent me this video, thinking it was really good.  That person was totally lacking in discernment, since the video is heretical.  First, it presumes to speak for God.  Secondly, right off the bat it teaches a God who is not omniscient - he is surprised by what humans do!  Then we have him walking hand in hand with God; um, how can he do that since God is spirit and no one can see him? The whole thing is feel-good cliches — nothing but a secular motivational video.  Oh, and we don’t “forgive ourselves.”  That is nothing but psychobabble.

Gary Gilley has a good series on The Bible Translations Debate.

Gilley also has a good series on The Role of Women in Ministry.

Pleading the Blood of Christ” is unbiblical nonsense.  I have in the past had comments on posts where the person either says they are “pleading the blood of Jesus” or that I should do so, and too many e-mails making the same claims.  Whoever first came up with that idea should have been horse-whipped!

Ellen G. White and the teachings of the Seventh-day Adventists.  Without her teachings, they couldn’t exist, but she is a false teacher and false prophet, which makes the SDA a cult.

One more thing to add to Mike Bickle’s false teaching line-up.

I’ve read things here and there about Sid Roth, but nothing really explicit.  This post is a great exposure of this false teacher.  This guy is just as scary as any false teacher in the charismanic cult.  Those he “interviews” are all brainwashed into these lies and are part of the problem in that they also teach the lies.  They don’t hear God - they hear Satan.

Stay away from false teaching narcissist Todd White.  How do guys like this get enough money to get their own follows claiming to be a church?

I’ve posted information in past “RAAH” articles about Liberty University’s bringing in Glenn Beck as a speaker without speaking about the fact that Mormonism isn’t Christian, their fining of students who didn’t want to listen to Beck, and their claim that they have no official position about Mormonism.  Well, their inviting Donald Trump to speak and treating him as a Christian is just as bad.  But what can you expect from a place which has also invited speakers such as “Rev.” Moon and Benny Hinn!  There appears to be no discernment with the leadership of Liberty.

I recommend Mary Dalke’s latest “Warning You With Tears Wednesday,” with a huge collection of videos examining all sorts of heresy and aberrations in the Church.  Some of the things she reports on have also been reported by me either in this post or past posts, but that just shows we follow some of the same sites!

Steve Bricker has an excellent, thought-provoking article about worship.

“Speaking” about worship, why do we even need a “National Worship Leader Conference”?!?  Seriously!  Can’t the people who lead the “worship” (i.e. songs) just use their own intellect about what songs to choose and how to arrange things?  Why is it the Church never used to have such a position as “worship leader”?  At any rate, this article makes one really good point: the idea promoted by “worship leaders” and conferences like this is “performancism” — “The worship leader as the performer.  The congregation as the audience.  The sanctuary as the concert hall.”  Then he makes an outstanding suggestion:  “Sing songs people know (or can learn easily). Sing them in congregational keys. Sing and celebrate the power, glory, and salvation of God. Serve your congregation. Saturate them with the word of God. Get your face off the big screen .… Use your original songs in extreme moderation.… Err on the side of including as many people as possible in what’s going on. Keep the lights up. Stop talking so much. Don’t let loops/lights/visuals become your outlet for creativity at the expense of the centrality of the gospel. Point to Jesus. Don’t draw attention to yourself. Don’t sing songs with bad lyrics or weak theology. Tailor your worship leading, and the songs you pick, to include the largest cross-section of your congregation that you can. Lead pastorally.

A friend who sent me the link to the above article gave me this testimony about his assembly:  “This was very evident last week - I pointed it out to lots of folks.  [The worship leader] and gang sang a song for the congregation.  In the middle he pauses and quotes from [O.T.] and then finishes the song.  I wrote down the artist and title.  I went home and looked it up - listened to a "professional" recording of the artist's cut.  Sure enough, [the worship leader] COPIED it verbatim....pause, citing of [O.T.] text, finish song.  This is what I call a copycat performance.  Its not worship.  He's just copying what's on the top 40 cause its popular.  Its so obvious people are blinded to it.

I can’t add to this!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

As a follow-up to the Liberty University fiasco of having Glenn Beck teach Mormonism, Mormonism Research Ministry’s blog has a two part article explaining the problems with the incident.  Part 1 and part 2.

Rick Warren’s support for Roman Catholicism is nothing less than apostasy.

The Emergent/Emerging movement has also been playing around with Roman Catholic mystical teachings, including the heretical idea of the RCC’s Eucharist.

Lighthouse Trails Research has a good reference source for identifying organizations promoting the contemplative/mysticism movement.

The latest target of Tim Challies’ series on false teachers is Creflo Dollar.  He’s another of those wealthy Word of Faith teachers who have gotten rich off of suckering his followers.

James MacDonald has a book out, which Gary Gilley reviews, exposing MacDonald’s false teachings.  MacDonald has succumbed to the popularity cult.

About 2 1/2 years ago I wrote a series about how the psychology and psychiatry industry was diametrically opposed to Christianity.  Answers In Genesis has posted an excellent article, “A Christian Response to the Crisis in Psychiatry,” which I think is a good follow-up.

Arch-heretic Jim Wallis and his cronies have always claimed to be Christian while at the same time teaching opposite of what the Christian faith teaches.  Their primary focus has been on the “social gospel” and promoting every left-wing political agenda.  Now they’ve “come out” unabashedly as pro-homosexual.

Wallis and his ilk promote the idea that there can be such a thing as a “gay Christian.”  Answers In Genesis has a good response to this oxymoron.

With many “churches” succumbing to the homosexual agenda, it is important that we, as true Christians, continue to stand fast on the Word of God and what it says about homosexual behavior.  While some suggest that there can be a neutral stance, Albert Mohler explains why there is no “Third Way.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

Well, I posted an article about what terrible theology “Heaven Is For Real” presents, but I didn’t know it was T.D. Jakes who produced the movie version.  When you have a heretic producing a “Christian” movie, this is what you get.

About women in church, Willow Creek, one of the original market-driven/seeker-sensitive organizations (I hesitate to call them a church), also gets it wrong! [link gone by 10/17/20]  This isn’t really surprising, since they leaned on the egalitarian side for women’s roles for decades.

Speaking of false teachers, Tim Challies exposes Teresa of Avila and T.D. Jakes.

Then there is Rick Warren, who is really doing a lot to endorse the Roman Catholic Church.  Roger Oakland also has a commentary about this situation.

So what is wrong with Romanism?  Well, how about the gullibility of thinking they have the skull of John the Baptist, and that they are revering it!?!  What about the Pope preaching the social gospel?  And this is just in addition to their false teaching about mortal/venial sins, indulgences, purgatory, the papacy, the perpetual virginity of Mary, etc, etc, etc.

I just love it when someone points out another problem with Joseph Smith’s theology.

Speaking about Mormons, what in the world was Liberty University doing inviting Glenn Beck to speak?  If he was there to speak as a conservative commentator speaking about politics in the USA, etc, that would be one thing.  But he spoke as if he was a Christian and talked to them as if he and the students worshiped the same God and Christ!!  And Liberty had the temerity to fine students who didn’t want to hear a Mormon [link gone by 10/17/20] promoting his belief system!!!!  What were the leaders of Liberty thinking?!?  Well, they've already promoted Moonies and Benny Hinn, so I guess it really isn't surprising.

Now I’ve seen just about everything.

What About Love?

Pat Robertson, Word of Faith heretic and false prophet, now says you have to be deaf, dumb and blind to believe what Genesis says! [link gone by 10/17/20] Ken Ham rebukes Robertson.

Finally, how do we end up with so much false teaching in the church?  It’s because so many churches hear so little of the Bible.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

Well, it looks like Liberty University is sliding into politically-correct apostasy; they have “no official position” about Mormonism.  How can any Christian not have a position as to whether or not the LDS is a cult?!?
The International House of Prayer in Kansas City preys on Christian youth by their very charismatic and musical productions.  IHOP is mostly aberrant and often heretical in their doctrines and teachings.  Yvonne over at ...and the world hears them” has posted a video of what looks to me to be demonic manifestations over at IHOP.  Stay away from this place and anyone who teaches there.
Speaking of heresy, the Word of Faith teachings definitely fall into that category and there are too many WOF heretics out there to keep up with.  “Pastrix” Dayna Muldoon is a new name to me, but she has apparently been around for a while.  She finally ran into someone who exposed her publicly and she doesn’t seem to be to happy about it!  Now for the background and what happened prior to that video, the pastor exposing her fraud describes everything at CARM’s blog.
The sad thing now is that an excellent Bible teacher, David Jeremiah, has now given these WOF heretics credence by being a guest speaker on TBN’s “Praise-A-Thon” and not only praising heretic Paul Crouch, but telling of his involvement with this heretical organization over the last few years!!!!!
Brian McLaren, in his recent brainwashing “Children, Youth and a New Kind of Christianity Conference,” warned against Bible passages that supposed are “texts of terror.”  He also said that “Bible-preaching/teaching/reading people are the most dangerous in the world for Muslims.”  This conference was not only an Emergent forum, but it also appeared to be a haven of liberal “Christians” of every stripe, including apostates and heretics.
Roman Catholics claim to be the one true church, and yet daily we find them supporting things that Christ would have nothing to do with - and this is aside from their aberrant and heretical doctrines!  Up in Canada a Catholic elementary school hosted the “transgendered” (read “mutilated”) man who was a contestant for Miss Universe Canada.  Okay, to be fair, they hosted all 62 contestants, but since hosting the man was giving tacit approval to his perversion, he should not have been allowed.  And aside from hosting this man, the school was promoting the whole idea of girls being “sexy and glamourous” - a message for elementary school girls!!!  Yep, I’m sure Christ would approve of this - NOT!
An article in the Austin, MN, Daily Herald by a retired UMC pastor claims that since Mormons have faith in one God they are then Christians.  I certainly hope this doesn’t reflect UMC teachings!  Mormonism is no more Christian than is Satanism!
Going back to the subject from last report, about “The Voice” translation of the Bible, Ken Ham points out another problem with this agenda-driven version - the allowance for evolution!

A good article by Erin Benziger was posted at the Christian Research Network, covering the history and teachings of “Spiritual Formation,” which is a false teaching invading the Church over the past few decades.
I’ve previously posted a couple articles about the movie Courageous; one being my own review and the other one highlighting some other critiques.  This week I came across another excellent critique which I highly recommend.  While this is a good movie, there are many concerns for Christians to be aware of.  (Be sure to read the thought-provoking comment discussion).
One of the problems with seeker-sensitive “pastors” is their irreverence for God and Christ.  (One of the things which bothers me also about Mark Driscoll.) For a good example of how crass these teachers can get, Ken Silva has posted a video clip of Eric Dykstra.  Believe me when I tell you that if I had been in that assembly, I would have stood up and ran out the door!
The blog “Herescope” has been presenting a good series examining some of the various aberrations that come into the Church through the ministry of Chuck Missler.  Titled, “Cosms, Codes, and Cryptologies,” there are five articles so far.  While lengthy, I do highly recommend them, especially if you are a fan of Missler:
I am one who really dislikes most “contemporary Christian music,” mostly because I really can’t stand the rock and roll music with so much of it.  However, when I analyze such songs for proper use in the assembly, I try to stick with examining the lyrics.  This past week I discovered a great site which will be very helpful with this, “Worship Song Ratings.”  It also has a couple links to examining the music.  I recommend it for your perusal.
Finally, I have read several places about supposed “same-sex wedding ceremonies” in the early Christian church.  Of course I never gave any of this stuff credence because I’m not that gullible.  I came across an excellent article this week to put in your apologetics tool box for responding to this claim. I think you’ll find it well-worth it.
