We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Alerts About False Teachers and False Teachings

A review of an interview with William Lane Craig demonstrates problems with the theology of some who are acclaimed as top-notch apologists. I, personally, would never point anyone to Craig for defending the faith.

James MacDonald escapes the consequences of his actions!  The leaders of Harvest are not acting biblically. MacDonald should never again exercise any leadership roles in the church.

Another false teacher/heretic seem to be born every minute.  Kevin Zadai is a new one on me!

Another example proving the Pope does not represent ChristAnd another one: he is promoting violation of laws. Do we really need more proof that the Pope is not a Christian?

The Gospel Coalition has continued their slide into apostasy, and now they are assisting the forcing of children to not have two parents.

Black Hebrew Israelites — a dangerous, racist cult.

Russell Moore has gone beyond the pale, and has been promoting apostasy and learning from false teachers.

Todd White has proven he isn’t a Christian, but a tool of Satan.

Proof that Hillsong is an heretical organization.

Mark Driscoll is still a dangerous wolf.

Andrew Wommack — beware that he is just another vicious wolf.

Do not trust the teachings of David Barton.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

It’s been quite a busy time for me, giving me little time for blog work. I’ve had a few piping jobs - and today I will be playing for a funeral an hour away - as well as taking an overnight with my sweetie to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of our wedding.  And the yard work never stops calling my name!  So here are things I’ve been reading since my last “GBU” post.

The Good:
Unconditional Love” is from the psyche field, not from the Bible.

Is Mark’s Gospel an early memoir of the Apostle Peter?  YES!

How did Judas die?  Biblical contradiction?  NO.

The Bad and/or Ugly
Matt Chandler continues to demonstrate his total lack of discernment as he and Francis Chan, another poorly-discerning teacher, join with the false teaching Hillsong and heretical Jesus Culture in a conference — a conference which has nothing to do with the REAL Christian faith.  Stay away from the teachings which come from these people.

It is really sad when a Jewish “biblical scholar” decides that Leviticus has been messed with and that it originally approved of homosexual behavior. Of course he has also decided that nothing in the Pentateuch is original.

This says a LOT about this so-called “Christian” conference (“Revoice”).

Robert Gagnon gives his comments on that “Christian” conference (“Revoice”).

An example of the sort of nonsense found at “Revoice.”

Oh boy, another “conference of false prophets, false apostles, and every other sort of false teacher.  Any name you see in these advertisements are people to avoid like the plague.

Steven Furtick seems demonic to me.

Beth Moore’s theology is getting wackier by the day.  AVOID HER!

David Barton is a dangerous false teacher.  AVOID HIM!

Bethel Redding/Bill Johnson are getting more aberrant and absurd every day.  That place is a bastion of every kind of false teaching by FALSE prophets.  WARN everyone to avoid that place and their teachings as if their very lives depend upon it.

A “pastor” from a UMC mega-church claims that supporting same-sex fake marriage isn’t incompatible with Christian orthodoxy, that it isn’t heresy.  Well, when you say there is such a thing as this fake marriage, then you are saying that God approves of it, which means you are worshipping another God and not the God of the Bible — i.e., you are indeed practicing heresy!

And the Pope again disagrees with God. His excuses for violating Gen.9:6 are just asinine.  Hey Mr. Pope — assertions from you don’t trump God’s rules!

No humor for today!

The Bad and the Ugly

Yesterday I posted the “good,” so today you get the “bad” and the “ugly” in the Christian culture.

The Bad:
Francis Chan continues his spiral towards apostasy by teaming with false teachers and the cult of IHOP.

The delusion so many Christians are under.  What a waste of time and effort!

Willow Creek just goes from bad to worse—now they have a woman lead pastor!  When did this become acceptable?

David Barton — not to be trusted in any of his teachings.

Some names to know for avoiding, because they are showing their contemplative beliefs.

Max Lucado continues going off the deep end.

The Ugly:
Ah, the heresy and apostasy of the PCUSA.

Brian McLaren’s “new Christianity” is dangerous paganism.

Perry Noble remains as unrepentant as ever, and as unbiblical as ever.  Mark and avoid him like the plague.

Harry Potter as sacred texts — I guess it’s no real surprise.

Todd White claims to be sinless.  And he claims Jesus went to Hell, which is typical Word of Faith heresy.

Al Sharpton — there is nothing “reverend” or even Christian about him.  In addition to his fruit
exposed in this article, Sharpton is also an ardent racist and a zealous socialist.

More blasphemy from Jim Bakker.  And yet his followers are still loyal to him.

Yes, Bill Johnson and Bethel Redding teach a different, FALSE, gospel.

The demonic “Mary” of the Roman Catholic Church.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Global Leadership Summit 2016 is not for teaching men to be shepherds in an assembly, rather it is there to lead more into apostasy.  Continue reading more here.

Another false apostle and his nonsensical, unbiblical teachings to stay away from.

The false teaching coming out of SBC teachers is becoming the norm, unfortunately.

Interesting reviews of some popular church music.  I agree with what the author has said about all of them.  I think he is fair and objective.

As a follow-up to that one, here are some more interesting thoughts by the same author, responding to some charges against his reviews.  He also has some some explanations of popular charismatic false and occultic teachings which are practice by Bethel Redding.  I particularly liked this statement: If a doctrinally sound minister -- John Piper, let's say -- were to favorably quote Rob Bell, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Joseph Prince, or T.D. Jakes in his sermon just because one of those false teachers can manage a theologically salvageable thought every once in a while, Piper would not go unchallenged. But for whatever reason we don't hold worship leaders to the same standard. If Bill Johnson is a grave-sucking false teacher, why is Jeremy Riddle not?

A week later, we have another in this series of examining worship songs!  Another comment I whole-heartedly agree with (reference “My Chains Are Gone”):  Should the song be sung in your church?  Why should it not? So long as a church is not replacing the Newton classic. As great as Tomlin and Giglio's version is, there are two verses of the classic hymn that are not in My Chains Are Gone. Let them not be forgotten.  The problem is that it HAS replaced Newton’s song;  it has been a long, long time since I’ve heard Amazing Grace.

Robert Hotchkin, another false teacher with unbelievable ideas, and yet people listen to him!!!!

No one should ever send another dime to World VisionDoug Evans makes the succinct point:  Millions of dollars has been embezzled from the Christian charity World Vision and funneled into the terrorist organization Hamas. I know I've mentioned this before, but World Vision is standing by the terrorist in their midst. What part of Stewardship are they misunderstanding?

Cautions About Alan Hirsch.  WOW — this guy is bad news.

Jews have their own apostates and heretics.

“Jesus Calling” radio “worship” hour?

David Barton seems to think God is a patriotic American Christian who dictates who to vote for.  He needs to spend less time with NAR types and more time with Biblical Christians.

Use caution when using Bible Gateway.

You’ve got to be kidding—asking a statue to pray!?!?!

How Hillsong invades and takes over a church.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It often really gets disheartening to see all the false teachings followed by Christians who refuse to use discernment!  Yet here we go with another episode exposing the WOLVES -- false teachers and groups who are leading so many to spiritual dangers.

My first example is Jen Hatmaker, who is just as dangerous as Beth Moore.  Avoid her like the plague.

A follow-up on Ronnie Floyd’s IHOP visit.  HT to Marsha

Examining Tommy Tenney’s book, The God Chasers.

Why do the leadership of the United Methodist Church even allow these people to remain as members?  If they are sanctioning homosexuality, excommunicate them.  Period.  This has been a growing apostasy in the UMC and they don’t do a thing to stop it because the are more interested in preaching the false social gospel!

One of the heresies of the United Church of Christ Satan:

Are other religious writings of from God?  NO!

Who are the children of God?  Not everyone, as the liberal theologians and other religions claim.

Jim Bakker is still a false teacher.  Too bad he wasn’t kept in prison.

More on David Barton, who is a favorite with many homeschoolers.  He is NOT to be trusted for historical information, and now he even has own show on the heretical Trinity Broadcasting Network.  The fact that Barton thinks Mormon Glenn Beck is a Christian says a lot about Barton’s ignorance of history.  Even worse is his praying an anointing over Beck!  So, along with not being able to trusted with things historical, he also can’t be trusted with things spiritual.

Systematic Deception: Speaking in Tongues.  Long article, but worthwhile.

This is what passes for “tongues and other manifestations of the Holy Spirit in so much of the charismatic world.  I’d say these are actually manifestations of demonic spirits.

Along this line, Gary Gilley has a good examination of the Word of Faith cult.

Doug Evans has a short examination of the Disciples of Christ denomination as he exposes “The Christian Left.”  The “C Left” say they agree with DoC theology, which is liberal enough for them as they try in vain to maintain their claim to real Christianity.

“Pray for ‘traveling mercies’” is a request which has always driven me crazy.  What does it mean?!?!  What is a “traveling mercy”?!?  Please, Christians, quit using this fad phrase.

I’ve been warning about false teacher Jonathan Cahn for quite some time.  He just gets worse.

While cleaning out some files I came across this excellent critique of Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Life.

Another reason to avoid Francis Chan’s teachings — he has no discernment.

Charisma magazine has long been known for promoting false teachings of every kind.  Now they think Jesus wants to give you golden tickets.

False teachers don’t know what real “church” is for.  This is a perfect example of the demonic ideas false teachers come up with.  I have to really wonder what sort of “pastor” she was married to.

Lastly for today, Liberty University really should confess that they couldn’t care less about the true Christian faith.  They were upset about the professor’s statements about Christianity and Islam worshipping the same God, but they are excited about continually bringing in false teachers [link gone by 7/16/18] of every ilk!  HT to Marsha.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Too late for this Christmas, but some good apologetic information for future use is a series by Tekton Apologetics Ministries:
Christmas is Pagan and other myths.  Good short video warning about crazy sites.
In the series, Part 1: is it unbiblical to celebrate birthdays? And were pagan gods born on Dec. 25th?
Part 2: why December 25th?
Part 3:  Stuffing the tree up
Part 4:  Christmas Tree Potpourri

Some good discernment articles by Gary Gilley:

Mormonism Research Ministry has several videos available for free viewing on-line.  I own all but one of these and can vouch for the accuracy of the information provided, as well as recommending them for viewing by Mormons as well as by those who want to learn more about proving that Mormonism is a false belief system.

A former nun speaks out.

This video clinches the fact that the Pope does NOT represent Jesus Christ.

John Piper shared preaching duties with heretic Christine Caine at Passion 2016.  In the past he shared with false teacher Beth Moore.  So why is he still being held in such high esteem as a great teacher?!?  To make matters worse, he is also promoting the racist “Black Lives Matter” movement!

The NAR is getting more and more bizarre.  Avoid their teachings at all costs.

Alec has another episode in his series, “Biblical Christianity.”

Thanks to Alec’s comments on another blog, I was led to this site where you can get come good information about the mysticism entering the Church and how to counter it.

A site with good examinations of the Word of Faith and other charismatic excesses (and other stuff now and then) is by Robert Liichow.  Liichow is ex-WOF who ended up going to seminary and is now a Lutheran (LCMS) Pastor.  I met Bob 14 years ago at the first apologetics conference we attended, and he’s got some good stuff.  One thing you have to look out for when he’s discussing true Christianity is the Lutheran stuff which is almost like Calvinism.  Otherwise he’s okay :oD.  His site isn’t up-to-date, and I think he probably just ended up not having time for it, but the articles are still good reference.  “Truth Matters” is

The modern Church and “The Sin That Became An Evangelistic Technique.”  The major problem is that too many church leaders have forgotten that the assembly is NOT an evangelistic event and was never meant to be.

Another good response to those who say Christians should not have guns, let alone use them or any weapon for self-defense.

David Barton, known for lots of books on various historical issues, really can’t be trusted.

A list of names to be familiar with - so as to avoid their teachings!

Lastly, just when you though Joel Osteen’s heresy couldn’t get any worse he now claims God is NOT omnipotent!!!
