We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad, and Ugly

I am really getting behind on things.  It’s a good thing I’m retired because otherwise I don’t know how I’d have enough time to go to work!!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading articles which come my way, and I’m again going to be sharing with you:

The Good:
Some good information exposing the false nature of the Orthodox Church.  Be sure to also review my article on the topic.

How long did it take Noah to build the Ark?  One thing everyone assumes is that Noah had ONLY three sons.  The Bible doesn’t say that; the Bible only discusses the three sons who boarded the ark with him.  There is no way Noah would have lived to be 500 without any children, so he must have had many sons and daughters, but only three sons who remained faithful to the Lord.

“Courtship” can have many connotations in the Christian realm (essentially unheard of outside of homeschooling), but the severe idea that every date must be considered a future spouse is just plain stupid. Gothardites seem to be the origin of that nonsense as a way to fight the culture’s sex-saturated dating scene, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

An excellent review of Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life.  I said it was bad from the beginning and yet my pastor at the time, ignoring me, bought stacks to pass out to the men.

A brief argument for the existence of the soul.  Good apologetics information.

A short rebuttal to KJV Only ideology.

The Bad and/or Ugly
Another examination of Andy Stanley’s “Aftermath” teaching.

False teacher Jim Bakker really needs to just shut up and go away.

Jesse Duplantis is a wolf, a con-man, but not a Christian.  He abuses the gullible people who listen to him as he robs their money.  This talk of his “need” for a new jet is nothing more than rank blasphemy, claiming Jesus talked to him and told him to lie to his followers to buy him a new jet. And he says Jesus would be flying all over the world if He was on earth now. Of course quite a few other of his ilk have done the same.  If your “pastor” or other person you follow tells you Jesus wants him to have a jet plane, run away from these wolves as fast as you can.
(Babylon Bee has a great rejoinder!)

The Anglican Church spirals farther into apostasy.

Bethel Redding — proof of just how aberrant, apostate, heretical, and dangerous that place is.

Tony Campolo continues to go off the deep end.  The man has proven to be a non-Christian.

Oh, the apostasy of the Church at large — the promotion of the secular world’s ideology with sexual immorality. The Underlying theory of this ideology is examined here.

Jen Hatmaker and Beth Moore — what a duo for false teachings!

This disgusting and occult practice of the Roman Catholic Church is mind-boggling.

The “pastor” of this “church” has no clue about Jesus if he thinks Jesus would assist people in their sin.  I examined this issue before. Run from this church!

Can’t you just see Paul and the New Testament Church hosting a pagan celebration? NO? Neither can I, but foolish Christians somehow think assisting pagans in their beliefs is okay with God.

The humorous
Paul Washer preached at Lakewood Church; it has to be true because I saw it on the Internet.

This must be what is seems like in these mega-churches.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Tony Evans is usually a pretty good teacher, but I have a lot of problems with the false teachers he spends time with — and the fact that he endorses his daughter’s false teaching.  Well, I guess I’ll have to alert people to some teaching he has which is aberrant — his spiritual warfare ideas.  Don’t buy his book.

Steven Furtick’s idea of teaching.

Evangelical Misogyny and the Spiritual Oppression of Christian Women.  Excellent, concise analysis of the problem.

Joyce Meyer at the “heresy Olympics” doing what she does naturally — teaching falsely.

The “new Israel” is about to have their “Gathering.”

Dennis McBride examines Muslim dreams and visions if Isa (Jesus): part 1 and part 2.

Biola University has joined the apostasy of enabling homosexuality.

Another conference claiming to do God’s work:  World Race and Adventures in Missions is having a gathering for all sorts of false teachings and false signs and wonders.  They seem to think they control the Spirit!  Stay away from these people!

Lyndon has part 4 of his series on Generational Curses.

Oh horrors — Tony Campolo refuses to call himself an evangelical anymore.  HAH - he never was one!!

The Jesus Calling Devotional Bible has just as much false teaching — and is just as dangerous — as the Jesus Calling books.  Sarah Young thinks her writings are the Word of God.

That's all for today!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

When it comes to false teachings, it seems to be worse and worse as the weeks roll by.

Andy Stanley continues with his false teachings.  He is so arrogant!  As if kids can’t meet friends in smaller churches?!?!  And he thinks middle-school and high-school kids should be separated just like in the public schools so they will be peer oriented.  His church teaches kids to hate church!  Andy later issued a weak apology, but that doesn’t really cut it, as Tom Buck at Entreating Favor explains.  Pulpit and Pen also has an open letter to Stanley.

Another UMC heretic.  Once you allow a woman to be pastor, this comes as part of the package.
Excellent article exposing “Christian” psychology.

I guess anyone can be a “pastor” nowadays.

Some good information about heretic Christine Caine.

Christians should NOT take “personality tests.”  They are nothing but pure psychobabble. (“Spiritual gifts” tests are just Christianized personality tests.) HT to Marsha West

Chuck Pierce is another one those false teachers claiming to speak for God, and he has way too many gullible followers.

A reader asked me what I knew about Canon Andrew White, and I’d never heard of him.  He sent me this link, which I think sums up pretty good that White is someone to be very wary of.

Asleep No More seems to be THE place lately to learn about Dominionism.  In this latest article Doug even includes several links to older articles dealing with the subject.

Red Letter Christians are just another group of heretics using bad hermeneutics to support their unbiblical and dangerous social gospel ideologies.  And Tony Campolo is one of their leaders.

As we approach Easter, there might be theater re-runs of Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ.”  Or perhaps churches will have a movie night for it.  Certainly the DVD version will be prominently displayed in the stores.  DON’T buy it.  DON’T waste your time with it.  It is a horrid mix or Roman Catholicism, mysticism and unbiblical nonsense.  Gary Gilley’s old two-part review might be worth your while.  Part 1 here, part 2 here.

A testimony of a nun who became a Christian left the Catholic Church.  HT to Mary Dalke.

Don’t let anyone kid you — the Seventh-Day Adventist religion is a cultHere is some information about their “Bible.”

Beth Moore is what ails us.

How many commands do you think are violated in this “church”?

Frequently abused Bible verses.  I’ve addressed a couple of these on this blog.

More about the movie, “Young Messiah.”  WOW, this movie is straight from hell.

Some humor to end with.  Ah, if only pastors would get arrested FOR using Hillsong stuff!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Sometimes I wonder if there will ever be a week without too many news items about the state of the Church.  It is really difficult to keep up with it all, which is why it is good that so many apologetics ministries are busy exposing all this stuff.

The big news has been Tony Campolo’s recent statement in support of “committed” same-sex relationships.  I’m really not surprised; after all, he was one of the first false teachers I exposed just a few months after I started this blog, and a few months later exposed his advocacy for homosexuals.  Michael Brown has an excellent open letter to Tony.

Homosexual activists who also claim to be Christians continue to lie about what Bible teaches in regards to homosexuality, which often leads weak/immature Christians astray.  One of their attacks is the Bible’s interpretation of the Greek word, “arsenokoites.”  I actually addressed the origin and meaning of this word in a previous articleThis article does a good job responding to arguments about the word.  Great information for your apologetics file in regard to the cult of homosexuality.

The pope continues promoting Roman Catholic supporters of homosexuality.  I just see this as more proof that he never speaks for God.

I have often said that those “Christians” who promote homosexuality and same-sex fake marriage are preaching another gospel and worshiping another Christ.  One particular blog-trolling false teacher who is 100% behind fake marriage just rails when you suggest he is preaching false gospels and false Christs.  Denny Burk has an excellent article where he cites an Orthodox priest saying essentially the same thing I’ve been saying.

So what excuse can Willow Creek have for engaging an open homosexual, who is an advocate for the homosexual agenda, as a worship leader?!? [link gone by 7/14/18] He claims to be celibate, but then that would mean he isn’t a homosexual, because a homosexual is one who is practicing the behavior; otherwise he is just a man struggling with homosexual desires.  (A thief is no longer a thief if he no longer steals.)  Willow Creek has been in the apostasy of market-driven philosophy for decades.  Now they say their “gay” worship leader is “held to the same standards that we have for everyone in our church.”  Obviously those standards don’t include not being allowed to advocate for false teachers.

Speaking of the market-driven/seeker-sensitive heresy, Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church is seeking $71million for another expansion!  I guess he needs a larger goat pen.

A great article about Creflo Dollar’s new expensive jet.

A thought-provoking article about who restrains the Holy Spirit.

OH NO!  Another Roma Downey show to promote more of her false teachings.  The comment section on the article is also quite interesting.

A blogger recently emailed me this link to a very well done article in regards to one of my blog posts about the Sabbath.  He is an ex-Seventh-day Adventist.

I never realized just how widespread some of Bill Gothard’s teachings have reached.  One particular insidious teaching is the claim that Christians have no rights.  I was directed to an excellent article examining the foolishness of such a claim, and the dangers this teaching presents.

So, knowing the great harm brought into the Church by false teachers, should we love them?

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

The PCUSA has some of the worst false teachers and heretics.  Now they have a “pastor” who loves abortion, and calls the abortion industry a “ministry”!!!

Elizabeth Prata has a good article demonstrating why Hebrews 9:27 does not contradict scriptures where people are raised from the dead.

The heretical teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, founder of the Worldwide Church of God, are infiltrating the church through news articles by Joseph Kovacs of WorldNetDaily (WND).  Watch out!

If you wonder why Christians — real Christians vs the “Christian Left” — are hated, so much, Dr. Don Boys explains why we’ve always been hated.  One of the big troubles in modern times is that real Christians are hated not only by the world, but also by so-called Christians who have embraced the world’s cultural teachings.

Just what we need—another book by Rachel Held Evans.

Some more information on Andy Stanley’s recent teaching about homosexuality.

The latest episode of the TV series “A.D.” is reviewed by Answers in Genesis.  The series has proven once again that when false teachers are in charge of such projects, you will end up with a lot of unbiblical nonsense deceiving the non-discerning.

I learned more about another false teacher this past week—John Bevere.  Apparently he’s just another Word of Faith heretic.  My introduction to him was by the way of a review of a book he has written.  I’m telling you, you just can’t keep up with all the false teaching invading the Church and the world. (A couple years ago I linked to this article which included information about his wife, but also some information about their ministry.)

Tony Campolo—need I say more?

For those who are involved in Bible Study Fellowship, be very cautious about where that organization is headed. Now they are promoting the horrid book, "Jesus Calling," a book whose author claims direct revelation from God -- among other things.

One of the current arguments for homosexuality supposedly being a biblically okay lifestyle is the claim that Jesus never said anything about it. Of course arguing from silence is rarely a good argument, but as I pointed out in an earlier article Jesus DID say something about it.  Christianity Today Astray actually has a good article addressing this claim, and I think this is a good summary statement:  “From Hollywood celebrities to famous pastors, Jesus’ silence is being cited as the final authority on issues ranging from homosexuality to masturbation to street evangelism. This negative hermeneutic is the logical extreme of Red Letter Christianity.”  Yes, this is exactly the end result of the teaching of Tony Campolo and his ilk.

Lastly, some good information for responding to the cult of homosexuality in the Church.  One of their claims is that the word arsenokoites, translated as “homosexuals” in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and 1 Timothy 1:9-11, is actually about abusive homosexual relationships rather than loving ones.  The Cripplegate has a fairly lengthy excerpt of Robert A.J. Gagnon’s excellent book, “The Bible and Homosexual Practice,” in which the idea of “abusive homosexuality” is thoroughly rebutted.  (I purchased this book 3 years ago and need to alert the reader to the fact that the author subscribes to the nonsensical JEPD and Q theories, uses Kinsey’s studies, has some hermeneutical problems in regards to other passages which deal with gender roles.)

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

John MacArthur isn’t going to be a bit popular with those churches approving homosexuality and same-sex fake marriage; he says they are “satan’s church.”  I have to agree with him there!

Approving homosexuality is one of the “17 signs that your church is becoming secular.”

Along this line, should Christians ever attend a same-sex fake wedding?  Absolutely not!  On April 14th I posted a link to an article explaining why a wedding is different than anything else, and it was a good discussion as to why a Christian should never, ever attend the “wedding” of homosexual people.

Tony Campolo again proves that he is a false teacher—a wolf among the flocks.  He is asserting that Christians should vote for Hillary Clinton for President of the U.S.A.   First, being a member of the Democrat party, she agrees with their party platform of supporting the homosexual agenda (including same-sex fake marriage), unrestricted abortion, sexual immorality in general, theft (redistribution of wealth), etc.  Other than than, Mrs. Clinton is one of the most corrupt politicians in history, as recent events have demonstrated with the many scandals in which she is involved.  No Christian should give any approval for Mrs. Clinton’s political aspirations.  Campolo is a dangerous wolf in sheep’s clothing; a rank heretic whom I’ve previously exposed.

IHOP’s Mike Bickle is a false teacher, as I have noted several times in the past.  A new site I’ve come across exposes Bickle’s propensity for twisting Scripture to justify his teachings.

Rick Warren teamed up with Dr. Mehmet Oz for his “Daniel Program,” totally ignoring Dr. Oz’s theological beliefs.  Well, now even the secular world has exposed Oz as a quack, yet Warren has remained silent.  Another example as to why Warren is not a teacher anyone should be following.

Lindsay has a good, short commentary on an article by Bill Muehlenberg, which is about the apostate church and “dhimmitude.”  Thought-provoking.

Remember my last report about Creflo Dollar’s seeking money for a $65 million jet?  Well, he isn’t happy with his critics—he thinks he should be able to want it and no one should criticize him for it!

Another Roman Catholic educational institution is violating Catholic teachings by having a “transgender” activist to have a speaking platform.  Will those who approved this be excommunicated?  Don’t hold your breath.  The problem of sexual perversion being promoted among Catholic schools is becoming routine because no disciplinary action is taken.

Here’s an important alert:  The Berean from Bible Tools teaches heresy.  If you use Bible Tools, cease doing so immediately so as to preserve your spiritual health.

As if  we need more evidence as to why Roma Downey’s TV “Bible” specials should be avoided, you really need to see her latest ideaThe Women of the Bible.  Her cast of characters is a regular who’s who of female false teachers.

Here’s a good article explaining the problem with shows like Downey’s “Son of God” series, as well as any depiction of Jesus.

Finally, Neil Simpson has a good article about the horrible abuse of Philippians 4:13.  It is indeed one of the most abused Scriptures.

Tony Campolo: Homosexual Advocate

For anyone who still thinks Tony Campolo is a worthy teacher after my exposure of him in June, I must demonstrate his advocacy for homosexual behavior.

Campolo spoke at the Baptist General Association of Virginia during their November 11-12 meeting. It seems he was not happy about California’s Proposition 8 passing and stated his opposition to it. Although Campolo DID say homosexual behavior was “contrary to the teaching of God,” he has previously stated that we need to be supporting homosexuals in their “struggle for dignity,” whatever that is supposed to mean. As noted in my previous article (6/4/08), Campolo’s wife is a leader of a group urging Baptists to be supportive of homosexuals and Campolo himself preaches in homosexual-affirming churches.

I see nothing in Scripture that says we should “affirm” those practicing immoral sexual behavior or that we should be supporting such people in their “struggle for dignity.” Our mission is to take the gospel to them and once they realize they are sinners in need of repentance they will leave that sin behind. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to “go and sin no more.” He didn’t affirm her in her sin, nor was he supportive of her lifestyle.

Perhaps Tony Campolo should read his Bible for more than taking passages out of context to support his socialistic agenda. Meanwhile, Christians should avoid his teachings like the plague.

Tony Campolo: A Dangerous - and False - Teacher

Tony Campolo has for many years been on my RADAR as one not to be trusted as a teacher for many reasons, especially since he is a pastor in the liberal American Baptist Convention, and is very liberal and Marxist in his political beliefs. And he often attacks fundamental, biblical Christians for our beliefs. Let me explain why I believe he is a dangerous teacher.

Item 1. On June 26, 2003 Tony spoke at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s general assembly, and during his talk he exhibited a number of problems. According to a report by David W. Cloud of the Fundamental Baptist Information Service, Tony “lambasted fundamentalists, conservative Southern Baptists, and dispensationalists. He said that anyone who resists women pastors is an ‘instrument of the devil’ and is committing sin. He said every Christian should support homosexuals as they ‘struggle for dignity.’ He said that the perpetual cycle of violence in the Middle East is not the result of the Palestinians. He spoke of the ‘terrorism of the Israeli army’ and criticized American military aid to Israel. He said Harry Potter, which is filled with witchcraft, is ‘good for kids to hear.’ He said preachers should warn about dispensational theology and the doctrine of an imminent rapture. He spoke against Christians who do not support the United Nations.”

I’m not going to address Campolo’s political statements, other than to say he is wrong, because that’s not the purpose of this blog, but I will say he needs to study his history!

There are many who will disagree, but I believe Scripture is clear that women should not be pastors. To say this belief is of the devil and committing sin is patently false teaching. As for supporting homosexuals in their “struggle for dignity,” would Campolo suggest we also support adulterers, fornicators and prostitutes in their struggles for “dignity”? Sexual sin should be exposed as such, not given support. Harry Potter is certainly a book that Christian children should not be reading, and if anyone wants reasons as to why, let me know. And, while I disagree with a lot of dispensationalist and rapture theories, those are not essential issues and are not reasons to warn against teachers who hold such positions.

Item 2. Tony’s wife, Peggy, is a national leader of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, which urges American Baptist congregations to be supportive of homosexuals. The fact that both Tony and his wife are very supportive of homosexuals rather than helping them to leave their sin behind, while they often preach in homosexual-affirming churches, makes him unqualified to be a pastor.

Item 3. In his book, Letters to a Young Evangelical, Campolo says he came to Christ - was born again - through “centering prayer,” a mystical prayer system also known as “contemplative prayer,” which has more in common with Eastern mysticism than Christianity. He even says that his relationship with Christ has grown through daily “centering prayer” where he uses the name of Jesus as a mantra. Can anyone show me the biblical basis for this? Yet throughout this book Campolo continues to confess how important this is to his relationship, and how he goes into altered states of consciousness to encounter a “oneness with God.” If this is how Campolo was “born again,” I have to question whether he is indeed a Christian. (This practice is also promoted by the apostate Emergent Church.)

Item 4. Campolo is part of a group who title themselves as “Red Letter Christians,” following only what Jesus taught in the Bible where the words are red. Supposedly, any teachings about doctrine, etc, that are found outside the red letters of the Gospels, aren't important. Campolo says Jesus was more concerned with “poverty, violence and intolerance” than about sin issues such as homosexuality and abortion. Gee, and all this time I thought Jesus was concerned with sin! The “Red Letter Christians” are more about the social gospel and Marxism than they are about the Gospel of salvation through Christ. They abhor doctrine.

Item 5. Campolo and co-author Mary Albert Darling have written a book titled, The God of Intimacy and Action, wherein they claim they - and we - can teach the Gospel through psychic evangelism or telepathic witnessing. This book is all about mystical Christianity, a lot of which Campolo and Darling bring from their love of the Jesuit order’s mystical practices. They call medieval mystics “super saints.”

As Pastor G. Richard Fisher says, “The book is largely an infomercial for Roman Catholic hagiography. It is replete with all the mystical mechanics and mystic rituals, such as the Prayer of Examen, lectio divina, meditation, centering prayer, and Renovare.” In the book Campolo also tells of his and Darling’s involvement in spiritism and necromancy by their devotion to, and contact with, Francis of Assisi, as well as many other mystical experiences. In this book there is much misrepresentation of Moses and Paul as being mystics.

Tony Campolo is a modern mystic who wants to be like those of medieval Roman Catholicism. He denigrates sound doctrine and gives active support to people living in sin. His claim of being born again must be suspect because of the way it supposedly took place, and because one who is truly a Christian would not denigrate sound biblical doctrine. Campolo has more in common with New Age beliefs than with those of the Biblical Christian. His teachings are dangerous and should be avoided.
