We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
A good examination of Rastafarianism.

Open borders—illegal immigration—and the Bible.

One terrible lie destroying Christianity.

Fighting off the wolves.  But it isn’t just for pastors.

What motivated the writers of non-canonical books?

Reasons why Seventh-day Adventists don’t celebrate Easter; in short, because they are a cult.

Invalid reasons for staying in a church you know teaches false doctrine. Look at the names listed throughout the article—mark and avoid them and their teachings.

The Bad and/or Ugly
Beth Moore is unable to stay out of the lime-light with her asinine pronouncements.  And she thinks she speaks for God!

More Beth Moore—Sigh!

The Gospel Coalition is becoming more and more the “Apostasy Coalition.

Forgery at the Vatican is nothing new.

A “Come Holy Spirit” Conference!?!?!  A collection of some of the top heretical speakers wants your money to tell you lies.

Here is great collection of videos about many apparitions of “Virgin Mary,” but these apparitions are nothing but demons toying with people who look to Mary as a god.  There is absolutely no biblical support for these being Mary. For further study of this topic, I recommend Quite Contrary: A Biblical Reconsideration of the Apparitions of Mary, by Timothy F. Kauffman, and The Cult of the Virgin: Catholic Mariology and the Apparitions of Mary, by Elliot Miller and Kenneth R. Samples. The evidence for these apparitions being demonic is quite conclusive.

Here’s something I haven’t reported on in a while: Adventures in Missions and World Race. This testimony (with part 2 here) about the organization should be spread far and wide to keep people from even thinking about joining them.

Jennifer LeClaire— What can I say?

Progressive Church Replaces Pew Bibles With Coloring Books. I wouldn’t be surprised if it really happened.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
Women are NOT to be preaching to men; i.e., they are not to be leaders in the assembly.

The modern blasphemy of the Holy SpiritClaiming the Holy Spirit is doing what he is not doing.

The Mormons have a new prophet leading the church.  This article gives some good history behind this Mormon tradition. At 93 years old he won’t last long.

A great example as to why we need to know the author and purpose behind the songs sing in church.

The Bad:
A “glory cloud” at Bethel, and a man who is an example of a “charismaniac.”  Believing foolish stuff like this is how people get deceived into cults.

Ever hear of the “Sacred Heart” in Roman Catholicism?  I have, but I never understood the reason behind the term, and never investigated it because I just figured it was more RCC nonsense.  Mary Dalke DID decide to investigate, and I think you’ll find her article to be very interesting.

Here’s an article to keep you up-to-date on the false teachings of Seth Barnes and Adventures In Missions.

More proof that the Pope does not represent Christ.

Some new information (actually old but just brought to light) proving what a horrid false teacher is Shawn Bolz.  Sid Roth is a false teacher, so for Bolz to be on his show to begin with should be enough to raise red flags about Bolz.  The angel Bolz saw was NOT an angel of the Lord.  He seems to have a lot of “visions”—the devil must like him, OR, more likely, Bolz makes up all this nonsense for publicity and attention.

Spiritual danger showing up in 4-H!!

The Ugly:
Heretic Paula White covers her tracks.

I’ve been saying for quite a while now the Michael Brown is dangerous to listen to.  Another example why.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was most likely not a Christian and so should not be praised as such.  He was also a very, very immoral man.

False teacher and “Jezebel” Jory Micah really, really needs to be avoided! (Yet she is another false teacher who Beth Moore promotes!)

Oh my!!!  This conference is nothing less than aberrations and blasphemy.

Cindy Jacobs — run from her as fast as you can. Her psychic ability is “spiritual reading.”

T.D. Jakes says that God needs to hear that you love Him!!

The humorous
Sad, but humorous.  The result of worshiping “saints.”

Really humorous, although Mormons might be a bit rankled.

I’m not so sure this is really satire rather than factual!

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The month of May was probably the busiest month I’ve had in a very, very long time.  Only a very few days were spent at home the full day.  Doctor visits, dentist appointments, vet appointment, missionary staying with us for a week, band performances, graduation parties, solo gigs, Memorial Day ceremonies, car maintenance, etc!  At least I got a chance to the mow the law, but the weeds in the gardens have taken over!

In the meantime, I try to spend SOME time catching up on the news in the world of the Church, so I’m giving you the benefit of learning from some of the stuff I’ve come across.

The Good:

I’m often told I’m divisive with my apologetics, that I’m “mean” and “unChristlike” when I expose false teachings for what they are.  Well, Christ wasn’t too kind with His words for false teachers!

A good article about proper Christian judging of sin.

Don’t let the Jehovah’s Witnesses mislead you by taking Ignatius out of context.

Fred finished part 5 of his review of Hugh Ross’ book, Navigating Genesis.

A good refutation of the teaching of “soul sleep.”

A very interesting article about why the Sabbath Day was not part of creation.  I also pointed out this fact in my article about the Sabbath.

The Bad:
Another example of the horrendously bad teaching from Seth Barnes at Adventures in Missions:  “Jesus didn’t set the example of settling down and getting a job. So, I followed Jesus’ example and left home and friends. When asked for advice, I suggest others do the same – go on a kingdom journey and dive into a world of possibilities. Become a vagabond for Christ as you practice ministry and discover your identity.”  Really — just be a bum and don’t get a job?!?!   Talk about Scripture-twisting!

The downgrade of the evangelical church.  Very sad to see where we are headed.

How deep in the “rabbit hole” will the New Apostolic Reformation go?

The Ugly:
Charisma Magazine’s Jennifer LeClaire is as whacky un-Christian as it gets.  She even “teases out” new prophecies!!  This woman is not a woman of God.

Black Hebrew Israelites — a cult about which not too many have heard.  Racist group.

More proof that Mark Driscoll has no business being a Christian teacher, let alone a pastor.

Steven Furtick — Need I say more?

Miscellany

Although I’ve been quite busy with life, I’ve been trying to keep up with my daily reading so as to keep up with all the good and the bad teachings within the Church.  This time I’m posting links to a few edifying articles and then the rest are links to items pointing out the need for discernment.

The Gospel of Mark and the deity of Christ.

Who is the fool who denies God?

The Greek word kephale and marriage.

Since Hank Hanegraff, the so-called “Bible Answer Man,” has announced that he is now a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church, it is important to understand that the demonstrates a 100% lack of discernment.  The Orthodox Church is, like the Roman Church, a cultic organization with a lot of unbiblical doctrine.  I wrote an article about them back in July 2010, which I recommend you review.  Answers in Genesis has also posted a review of E.O. teachings to help you understand their unbiblical nature.  (The deceitful nature of Hanegraff’s Christian Research Institute — which USED TO BE a good apologetics organization — is demonstrated by the fact that an article condemning the E.O. as unbiblical was removed from their site sometime yesterday; I had the link and was beginning to read it but had to go to a funeral—this morning the link is gone.)

Damning doctrines of the Orthodox Church.

Should we apologize to the Eastern Orthodox Community?

God has a name.

More on Freemasonry.

Watch out for broken wolves.

More proof of the apostate and heretical condition of the Catholic church.

The 100th anniversary of demonic visions at Fatima is celebrated by Rome.  Just another example of why Roman Catholicism is NOT true Christianity.

25 reasons why Peter wasn’t the first pope.

Some good information about the Seventh-day Adventist cult and their teaching about the Sabbath and “soul sleep.”

A lot of mighty weird things going on with the Southern Baptist Convention; the apostasy just keeps building.

Steve Bricker has an excellent analysis of a couple of “worship” songs.  Now if we could only get our “worship leaders” to do this!l

When you redefine what a missionary is, false teaching results. That’s what Adventures in Missions has done.

Random Things Needing Discernment

Do discoveries of new planets validate E.G. White’s “visions”?  NO!

Kari Jobe, one of the worst “worship artists,” spreads aberrant and heretical theology.

Here’s another periodic reminder of the dangers of Adventures in Missions and The World Racelots of connections to the New Apostolic Reformation.

For those who refuse to accept that Jesse Duplantis is a horrid false teacher, you need to review this article.

Abused Scripture — 2 Corinthians 8:9.

Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in the resurrection as taught in Scripture.

What is an apostle?  This article dispels the myth of the modern NAR apostle — and any other claim to be apostles.

A  dangerous cult you should know about is the World Mission Society Church of God.

The Episcopal Church has an idolatrous love affair with God-condemned sexual perversion.  The denomination is totally apostate — and has been for decades.

Has God forbidden us from criticizing church leaders?  Absolutely not.

Wanted:  A Sunday School Teacher from Hell.  Sought by the totally apostate United Church of Christ.  Of course this “church” worships a different God and Christ than those of the Bible!

The King James Version Bible and Easter.

A resource for addressing Freemasonry in your assembly.

The pastor of the assembly we left a couple years ago is showing less and less discernment; this past week he praised Chris Tomlin’s song, Good, Good FatherThis article demonstrates the deep problems with this song.

People, use discernment with everything you hear and read, and if your church leaders are not using discernment, bring things to their attention.  You never know that you might be the one to make them think!

Random Things Needing Discernment

This is an example of the corrupting influence false teachers have on our young people.  Another report explains how this is polluting the Church at large.

Are we heading for a one-world religion of Roman Catholicism—Islam

The Southern Baptist Convention is more and more proving to be a liberal agenda movement, a group in apostasy.

Beware of the Word of Faith heresy.

Watch out for the “desert fathers” and the modern mystics — their teaching is not biblical.

The World Race and Adventures in Missions is a cultic, false-teaching organization which I’ve never seen reported on by any site, ministry, etc, except for this one.  Because of that, I will periodically continue to highlight some of their articles so that there is at least one more site raising the red flags!

John Crowder is someone I’ve not reported on much, but he really, really needs to be avoided.  This guy is definitely off the wall.

Be careful and discerning when hearing tales about missionaries’ stories of people raising from the dead, etc.  I’ve never seen any evidence support such tales.

Beware of contending for miracles — it is nothing more than hopelessness.

The Episcopal Church/Anglican Church community gets more apostate daily.

They call themselves a Christian assembly and yet have a lesbian couple as co-pastors leading them.  Solid blasphemy against the name of Christ.

A good article about discernment with the false teaching about “Spiritual Formation.”

A great cartoon about Joel Osteen!
