We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Some Good, Some Bad, and Some Downright Ugly

I’ve been quite busy lately with practicing my pipes and playing for events. Added to that have been too many doctor visits.  Meanwhile, my collection of links for articles I feel important to be shared just kept piling up. So this is a long post, but there are some good articles for edification and many for learning what is going on with false teachers/teachings.

Starting off, here is another thought-provoking article about the so-called revival at Asbury.

A saying that sounds pious but isn’t- “Let Go and Let God

Here’san interesting article about the translation of the Greek word ecclesia. What is interesting to me is that I have always understood the translation “church” to mean the individual assembly — a congregation. That’s what I see in the context.

Jesse has a pretty good examination of the Catholic Eucharist.

Everyone I Don’t Like is Literally Gothard. Too many people are making false accusations against teachers they don’t like, comparing them with Bill Gothard’s teachings. This article gives a review of some of Gothard’s teachings so as to settle such false charges.

What’s in the Gap?  An excellent examination of the “Gap Theory” and why it doesn’t work. (One problem exists when it ascribes the name “Lucifer” to Satan—Lucifer was never Satan’s name.)

The Church should not be using cultural relevance and entertainment to reach people.

Hillsong is NOT a church or even a group of churches—it is a business, and even a cult with false teachings of every sort.

Why Christians shouldn’t bow to “homosexual marriage.” Excellent speech, worth the five minutes to watch.

Pay attention to Clint Eastwood—3:27 minutes of good lessons using satire.

This is what you get when the person who really got your church started is a well-known false teacher—Saddleback church ordaining women pastors. Rick Warren severely abuses Scripture to support women pastors.

Beth Moore has literally become a cult leader. She has led millions of women (and, surprisingly, men) astray, and her latest antics prove just how apostate she has become.

The Gospel Coalition teaches only the gospel” of Satan. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

Do you need any more evidence than this to prove that Andy Stanley is an heretical apostate? How about another bit of evidence?

False teacher Steven Furtick is selling tickets for a preaching/worship tour—for hundreds of dollars!!!

The Catholic Church, as a whole, continues to be more and more apostate because the man in charge, the Pope, does nothing about those who violate not only Catholicism but also real Christianity.  There is a priest in Ireland who allows a Muslim call to prayer during Mass. Then we have a Catholic university denying a formation of a group on campus because the group believes in only two genders — male and female!  OH, and how about a Catholic school that suspended a student for saying men and women are different?!!?

Stay away from Lysa TerKeurst/Proverbs 31 Ministries. (note that even though the article is originally dated in 2015, the article itself is continually updated).

Bible Project’s Tim Mackie believes Penal Substitutionary Atonement stems from pagan sacrifice rituals. There are some really heretical beliefs out there, so beware.

Proof that Joyce Meyer is a false teacher and most likely is unsaved.

Kenneth Copeland and Heidi Baker—two of the biggest frauds and worse false prophets out there.

In The Chosen, Peter says God makes mistakes!  ANNNNDDD, the guy who plays Jesus on The Chosen is about as theologically apostate as it gets.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Another big collection today!

The Good:

How ‘LBGT-Affirming’ Is Like KJV-Onlyism.  Really good comparison.  The only problem I found is some things labeled as KJVO church behaviors SHOULD BE the same in ALL churches (e.g. church discipline for fornication and fostering young earth creationism).

Jesus and the Law of Moses: the Woman Caught in Adultery.  One item addressed here is a question I’ve always asked about those charging the woman — if she was caught in the act, where is the guilty man?

Is Jesus the Archangel Michael?  A great way to deal with Jehovah’s Witnesses’ false teaching about Jesus.

The Bad:
Lou Engle’s love affair with Rome.

Shame on Michael Brown for promoting false prophet Jonathan Cahn.

Avoid any teaching by Lisa TerKeurst—she’s a false teacher!l

The Ugly:
Shawn Bolz practices that which is forbidden by God, and is of the occult.  However, he is really just pretending — LYING.  The man cannot be a real believer, let alone a pastor.

What Seventh-day Adventism hides from outsiders.

Rome is again offering a plenary indulgence for getting out of purgatory — a non-existent place—for idolatry.  This is a horrid sham which proves again that Roman Catholicism is an unbiblical, man-made organization which blasphemes God on a daily basis.

Steven Furtick.  This is what the modern worldly Church has devolved into.  The people following Goatherd Furtick are definitely not sheep.

The Church by the Glades is NOT a Christian assembly.

The humorous
— although there is a whole lot of truth here!  A fellow believer said he doesn’t think this is honoring God, but I think that any time we expose false teaching it honors God, and if the satire/sarcasm bothers you, think about how Elijah poked fun at the Baal worshipers!

I wouldn’t be surprised if THIS is true!

Joel Osteen’s tortured Bible verses.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Doug Evans has a good examination of Steven Furtick and his Code Orange heresy fest.

Why the KJV is NOT the best translation:

Catholics keep proving over and over that they have no clue about the real teachings of Christ.

Of course when the Pope himself focuses on environmentalism rather than Christ, then what can we expect from his followers?

Why don’t you recommend GOOD teachers?  I agree with Amy Spreeman, which is why I do what I do here at The Watchman’s Bagpipes.  Oh, I will occasionally recommend a good one, but I tend to spend more time alerting people to the danger of the wolves.

This satire could really be true!

I find it to be very disappointing to learn that Eriwn Lutzer says we shouldn’t attack false teachers.  But, it isn’t something new because too many pastors say we should not worry so much about exposing false teachers but rather we should just teach the truth and people will discover for themselves who is false and who isn’t.  This, of course, has been demonstrated to be a 100% false philosophy — otherwise the false teachers wouldn’t be so prevalent and so powerful!  At any rate, the article also exposes what a false teacher Larry Crabb is (which I’ve know for many, many years!).  (The article makes a big issue about what Lutzer didn’t say, but that doesn’t concern me too much because one would have to have a whole lot more time to say everything the article suggested; my concern is about what Lutzer did say.)

Church by the Glades should be better named “Goat Pen by the Glades.”

Comparing Adventures in Missions to the Emergent Church.  Peas in pod.

Oh no — Jesus Calling now has a sequel!  Sarah Young continues her claims about revelation from Jesus in her new book, Jesus Always.  Warn your friends against this garbage.

Andy Stanley’s apologetic and a great response to it!

Here’s one I don’t remember hearing about — the Catalyst Conference.  Looking at the names involved, I have the same question — what’s Swindoll doing there?

I’m always learning about another false teacher, this time it is Billye Brim.  Anyone Hagin “anointed” are part of Satan’s realm.  One can never keep up with the apostate state of the Church today! (Oh, and Sid Roth is about as false teacher as they get!)

Another reason to avoid teachings by Lysa Terkeurst.

Stay away from iDisciple!!!   Save yourself from lots of false teaching.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

WOW! — the time has sneaked up on me and I’ve gathered way too many items to report on.  So buckle up, you’re in for another nightmare ride through things you need to be alerted about avoiding!

I agree — “worship” leaders need to quit saying these juvenile phrases.

What is the Church coming to when they use the teachings of a media celebrity over the teachings of the Bible in their sermons?!?  I’d say The Gathering isn’t a Christian sheep-fold but a non-Christian goat-pen.

Here’s some shocking things from the SBC conference, but not-so-shocking from Andy Stanley.

Oh, Andy Stanley, you really need to give up your job and quit leading people astray with your lies!

This is normal for ELCA liberal Lutheranism — denying the facts of the Bible is how they have totally apostatized.

When you hear from “God,” be sure to check with Scripture.  This article shows the horrors of false NAR claims — a “god” of their own making.

Some revealing information about the “Passion Translation” of the Bible, the one promoted by the NAR.  The translator got direct revelation from God!

What has this to got to do with the REAL Church of Christ? False teachers and an event that looks exactly like a secular rock concert.

Here’s an interesting site which examines things even I’ve never heard about. There sure are a lot of false teachings out there!!!!

What about those who claim to have seen God?  Of course they are liars.

Liberal churches promoting “social justice” and “multiculturalism” are NOT preaching Christ.

Gary Gilley has a good 2-part teaching of “The Social Gospel, Yesterday and Today.”  See part 1 here and part 2 here.

The world of false prophets never ends.  Every one of them claims to have a word from God.

Texas Christian University has proven they are apostate by assisting abortionists.  Of course when you are associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) you can pretty much expect this sort of thing (see previous reports about DoC in my “RAAH” posts).

Why in the world would Greg Laurie be promoting false believer and defender of Roman Catholicism Mel Gibson at a “crusade”?!?!?  Gibson has done nothing for the Christian faith, so why make him the “star of the show”?

Roman Catholics continue in their apostasy — now they’ve hired a Hindu priest for a college chaplain!!!

Now we can look forward to another “heresy parade” at Steven Furtick’s goat-pen!

Speaking of Furtick’s goat-pen:  I reported in an “RAAH” post a year ago about a woman false teacher with his ministry, Lysa TerKeurst.  Well, now here’s some more information about her and why she and her teachings are to be avoided.

Unfasten your belt now and stagger back to earth in your shock and dismay.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Well, it has been a busy week around home but we were still able to take an overnight fun trip celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary Saturday and Sunday (Saturday was our actual day).  So here I am trying to catch up on blogging beyond drafts I had previously set up, and the first thing I need to do is post this collection of news items to alert my readers about what’s happening within the Church.   The bad stuff just keeps getting worse as we head closer and closer to the end time; the wolves are everywhere!

It’s hard to believe that Todd Bentley is still drawing crowds to his goat-pens.  He is one wicked wolf.

There’s always another popular teacher I haven’t heard of, who is someone everyone should avoid.  Now I’ve learned the name Lysa TerKeurst — yep, another woman playing on women’s emotions to so as to be able to abuse Scripture.  Proverbs 31 Ministries is hers, but when you learn she’s part of Steven Furtick’s goat-pen and has even preached sermons there, that should be enough in itself to tell you she is to be avoided like the plague.

The Church by the Glades is still dancing with the world rather than teaching the Word.  I found it interesting that their Facebook page says they are a “Religious Organization - Church.”  I’d say they need to drop “Church” and stick with “Religious Organization.”  I don’t think they understand what the Bible says about anything — they really need to stop playing “church.”

The Roman Catholic Church continues to demonstrate that they are no more God’s chosen portal than any other religious body.  In fact, for such claims as they make, they are really worse when they violate God’s Word.   Most recent case is in Germany, where a “married” lesbian has been approved to head Catholic day care!

False teacher and media darling Rachel Held Evans again demonstrates that she has no clue about the teachings of Jesus Christ, as she totally supports Planned Parenthood and abortion.  Wicked woman.

When you have wolves pretending to be clergy in the Church declaring that Planned Parenthood is “doing God’s work.”  How despicable can these tools of Satan be!?!?  Notice the apostate and heretical denominations represented.

One of the popular Contemporary Christian Music artists, Darlene Zschech, has decided that the leader of the apostate Roman Catholic Church is worthy to sing for as she promotes the apostate idea of ecumenicism.

This morning I read an excellent article about what causes so much of the “worship” problems in the assembly.  I recognized all the symptoms which were taking over the assembly we left earlier this year.

Fred continues his excellent review of the book, “Which Bible Would Jesus Use?

Joel Osteen by the numbers.  Wow!  The deception with him is strong.

Are there Apostles in the church today?  EMPHATICALLY NO!  I’ve had this conversation via comments on some of my other posts and also via e-mail, as all sorts of Word of Faith followers and IHOP followers, etc, attack me for denouncing their “apostles.”  This article uses the same biblical reasoning I have been using for years, but also includes the teachings of the early church on the subject.  Very well done.

And this university calls itself Christian?  Another one to cross of your list.

Lastly, here is an excellent article examining which current popular ideas about the church and the Bible are actually correct.  HT to Doug.
