We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
A good review of Francis Chan’s book, CrazyLove.  A virtually worthless book.

Does the O.T. law require a woman to marry her rapist?

The apostle Paul was probably a widower.

The Bad and/or Ugly
The Pope idolizes Mary — for real.  Mike Gendron’s comment: Once again the pope is attributing divine attributes to "another Mary" implying that she is omnipresent in her protection of Catholics from the devil. He robs Christ of His honor and power as the Good Shepherd who promises to protect the sheep that He gave His life to save (John 10:1-30). Tragically, many Catholics listen to the voice of the most influential false prophet in the world, "a hired hand and a thief who comes to steal and kill and destroy" (John 1010:10). Not until they hear and believe the voice of the Good Shepherd will they find eternal life and divine protection.
He idolizers her so much that he has created a new feast day to honor her.

DANGER!!  A new movie-based “Bible Study” is heading for your church.

Another movie—and book—to avoid:  A Wrinkle in Time.

Cindy Jacobs and Chuck Pierce — why does anyone listen to these crackpot heretics?!?!?

How bad does Hillsong have to be before our churches quit using their songs?!?

An example of all that is wrong with Hillsong.

Billy Graham’s funeral was by invitation only, and I think it says a lot about his organization when you learn how many false teachers and heretics were invited.

Among other problems with Billy Graham, I just learned that he was for abortion for rape!  As if the child was responsible for the crime and should be punished!  Go to the 11:35 on the video.

Two heretical, lying peas in a pod: Bill Hamon and Sid Roth.  Roth supports such fakery as a direct revelation to Kevin Zadai which says praying in tongues will enrich you!  This last one Jesus plays a soprano saxophone, and other nonsense—such as Jesus played himself out of hell on the saxophone.

Michael Brown promotes heretic Sid Roth, as well as joining him in his false teachings and Word of Faith heresy as he lies about direct revelation from God.

Black Hebrew Israelites” —  a very ugly cult.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

When it comes to false teachings, it seems to be worse and worse as the weeks roll by.

Andy Stanley continues with his false teachings.  He is so arrogant!  As if kids can’t meet friends in smaller churches?!?!  And he thinks middle-school and high-school kids should be separated just like in the public schools so they will be peer oriented.  His church teaches kids to hate church!  Andy later issued a weak apology, but that doesn’t really cut it, as Tom Buck at Entreating Favor explains.  Pulpit and Pen also has an open letter to Stanley.

Another UMC heretic.  Once you allow a woman to be pastor, this comes as part of the package.
Excellent article exposing “Christian” psychology.

I guess anyone can be a “pastor” nowadays.

Some good information about heretic Christine Caine.

Christians should NOT take “personality tests.”  They are nothing but pure psychobabble. (“Spiritual gifts” tests are just Christianized personality tests.) HT to Marsha West

Chuck Pierce is another one those false teachers claiming to speak for God, and he has way too many gullible followers.

A reader asked me what I knew about Canon Andrew White, and I’d never heard of him.  He sent me this link, which I think sums up pretty good that White is someone to be very wary of.

Asleep No More seems to be THE place lately to learn about Dominionism.  In this latest article Doug even includes several links to older articles dealing with the subject.

Red Letter Christians are just another group of heretics using bad hermeneutics to support their unbiblical and dangerous social gospel ideologies.  And Tony Campolo is one of their leaders.

As we approach Easter, there might be theater re-runs of Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ.”  Or perhaps churches will have a movie night for it.  Certainly the DVD version will be prominently displayed in the stores.  DON’T buy it.  DON’T waste your time with it.  It is a horrid mix or Roman Catholicism, mysticism and unbiblical nonsense.  Gary Gilley’s old two-part review might be worth your while.  Part 1 here, part 2 here.

A testimony of a nun who became a Christian left the Catholic Church.  HT to Mary Dalke.

Don’t let anyone kid you — the Seventh-Day Adventist religion is a cultHere is some information about their “Bible.”

Beth Moore is what ails us.

How many commands do you think are violated in this “church”?

Frequently abused Bible verses.  I’ve addressed a couple of these on this blog.

More about the movie, “Young Messiah.”  WOW, this movie is straight from hell.

Some humor to end with.  Ah, if only pastors would get arrested FOR using Hillsong stuff!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It is really impossible to keep up with so many false teachers and false teachings in the Church, so warning people about these things gets more and more difficult.  We really need lots of sheepdogs in the Church — the wolves are massing!

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard that Benny Hinn was hospitalized for some sort of heart trouble.  I guess he just doesn’t have enough faith in his own false teaching or else he wouldn’t be having health issues!  Um, hasn’t he said that it isn’t God’s will for people to be sick?  The man is a tool of satan.

“Speaking” of heretics, here is another article about Creflo Dollar and his desire to buy a $65 million jet.

Then we have the Disciples of Christ denomination joining in with the hysteria over Indiana’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act (soon to be “fixed” to become the “Religious Freedom Destruction Act”); they are threatening to move their 2017 General Assembly out of Indiana.  I guess giving Christians (and others) the right to refuse to provide services for objectionable activities is just not Christ-like in their minds.  Of course that means they are worshiping a different Christ than the one of the Bible.

False teacher and heretic John Hagee is prophesying the end of the world this year, because, after all, the “blood moons” are a portent of horrible things.

I’ve mentioned problems with David Jeremiah in the past, but this man is really, really getting more and more apostate.  I wouldn’t go as far as Elizabeth in calling him a non-Christian, but I will say he is never to be trusted again.

Then there is another Word of Faith charismatic — Chuck Pierce.  This man actually thinks Glenn Beck is a “son in the Lord.”  Beck is a Mormon, and the god they worship is not the God of the Bible, so how can he be a “son in the Lord”?!?  Pierce thinks Beck has some sort of “mantle” from God to “change this nation.

A brother Christian who reads this blog brought to my attention a “new” Bible version I hadn’t heard of yet: “A New New Testament.”  I took a look at what Amazon had to say about itand learned it a very spiritually-dangerous creation of very liberal “theologians.”  Avoid it like deadly poison it is.

A few years back someone e-mailed me for information about the program, “Walk to Emmaus.”  I found that it is based on a Roman Catholic movement and was not something Christians should be involved with.  At that time I didn’t think about writing about it, and I wasn’t doing “Random” posts yet.  NOW, I’m alerting my readers to the spiritual danger of this program by directing you to this article at Lighthouse Trails Research Project blog.

Of course there are some Christian leaders who have no problem whatsoever with Roman Catholicism, and get angry at people who point out their error!  A perfect example is the director of the Manhattan Declaration.

In the same realm as the Manhattan Declaration is a more recent organization called, “City Mosaic.”  Their focus of unity is the false social gospel.

Elizabeth Prata has a good report about why we shouldn’t waste our time with Roma Downey’s new series, “A.D.”  It has very little to do with the truth of the Bible.

Lastly, there are “5 Reasons Your Church Should be Smaller.”  Mega-churches are appealing to popularity more than to the Bible.
