We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
A good review of Francis Chan’s book, CrazyLove.  A virtually worthless book.

Does the O.T. law require a woman to marry her rapist?

The apostle Paul was probably a widower.

The Bad and/or Ugly
The Pope idolizes Mary — for real.  Mike Gendron’s comment: Once again the pope is attributing divine attributes to "another Mary" implying that she is omnipresent in her protection of Catholics from the devil. He robs Christ of His honor and power as the Good Shepherd who promises to protect the sheep that He gave His life to save (John 10:1-30). Tragically, many Catholics listen to the voice of the most influential false prophet in the world, "a hired hand and a thief who comes to steal and kill and destroy" (John 1010:10). Not until they hear and believe the voice of the Good Shepherd will they find eternal life and divine protection.
He idolizers her so much that he has created a new feast day to honor her.

DANGER!!  A new movie-based “Bible Study” is heading for your church.

Another movie—and book—to avoid:  A Wrinkle in Time.

Cindy Jacobs and Chuck Pierce — why does anyone listen to these crackpot heretics?!?!?

How bad does Hillsong have to be before our churches quit using their songs?!?

An example of all that is wrong with Hillsong.

Billy Graham’s funeral was by invitation only, and I think it says a lot about his organization when you learn how many false teachers and heretics were invited.

Among other problems with Billy Graham, I just learned that he was for abortion for rape!  As if the child was responsible for the crime and should be punished!  Go to the 11:35 on the video.

Two heretical, lying peas in a pod: Bill Hamon and Sid Roth.  Roth supports such fakery as a direct revelation to Kevin Zadai which says praying in tongues will enrich you!  This last one Jesus plays a soprano saxophone, and other nonsense—such as Jesus played himself out of hell on the saxophone.

Michael Brown promotes heretic Sid Roth, as well as joining him in his false teachings and Word of Faith heresy as he lies about direct revelation from God.

Black Hebrew Israelites” —  a very ugly cult.

In our culture of celebrity Christianity(?), scores of money seems to be the "reward" for preaching a jesus of sorts, and a gospel that takes the Name of the LORD, our God, in vain. Exactly "who" uses the LORD'S Name for money, fame, and personal glory, profitable for religious individuals or corporate religion?

And exactly which jesus are these famous pastors pointing us too? Perhaps the harlot, prostitute religious system that boasts of the wonders of itself, rather than the LORD Jesus Christ of our Holy Scriptures.

To worship man and his works, is to worship the beast. Jesus, in anger, turned over the exchange tables in using His Name in vain for gain amongst a lost people; and religious folks are still using His Name in the same capacity as those years ago......there is nothing new under the sun.

America's pastor should actually be Jesus, the Christ, should He not?

If I may add another thought here, Glen. Personally, it is rather sickening and tiresome, to attend any church around here, and have the pew sitters tell me point blank, which man or woman I am to follow these days; in purchasing their books, their cd's, their dvd's, subscribe to certain websites, pick-up their T-shirts, jewelry, and other junk with their personal names on it to subtly promote their religious businesses, and a host of other religious cons in order to mold and shape the masses into their form of religion.

It is amazing what it takes in this modern time to be a follower of Jesus, and the vast amounts of money that I have to spend on religious activities that do NOT advance the Kingdom of our LORD in any, shape, or form; let alone ministering the true Gospel and giving out the Word of God (Bible) for free, and encouraging that precious soul to read and meditate upon the Scriptures for themselves.

To care for the least of these and our neighbors as Jesus commanded, transgressed from the assemblies (the ekklesia) to the governments, so the churches now spend vast amounts of money on themselves and how they "look" to the outside world. May our Great LORD and Savior have mercy on us at that final day for casting aside, those souls who are in need of a Savior.........for humility is extinct amongst the Christian industrial complex of our day. I am now told by pastors, elder boards, church boards, deacons and deaconesses, and those important people in churches secretly coveting leadership roles within 'the church'....that I am supposed to be proud. Jesus humbly went to the cross on behalf of my sins, and rose again from the grave, so that I, a born again Christian, can be proud?

Wow!

Martha,

You are sooooooo right. These popular goat-herds are narcissists and have proven to be wolves fleecing the sheep.

I'm tired of churches using popular authors' books in Sunday school, adult classes or "Bible studies." They can't just teach from the Bible, which to me proves their ignorance of Scripture.

Yes, Glen. I hear you loud and clear! In one of the most conservative churches around here (they now have a fancy gymnasium attached to their sanctuary building), I had the experience of sitting in on an "Andy Griffeth Show" religious study (I refuse to call it a Bible study for there was no legitimate Scripture study involved.) It was such a joke analyzing the relationship between Andy and Barney, and how the leadership compared it to the Scriptures. I had a difficult time keeping a straight face and for sure, the leadership saw me smiling and chuckling here and there.

I also attended a woman's Bible study for a short time until my personal being was insulted by the queen bees of the group, for I do not subscribe to the extra Biblical revelations being promoted by the false prophets of our day.......and my faith is not dependent upon dream interpretations, being drunk in the spirit, visiting the third heaven, and for sure, tithing and not eating pork! I guess I was still a "baby Christian - that's what they call those of us who have "not arrived" into their signs and wonders experiential theology, as I was constantly called to continually "chew on the meat and spit out the bones."

If meat is only the truth, there shouldn't be any "bones!"

I was also "corrected" by a male elder for teaching our Sunday school class straight out of the Bible, verse by verse, in the New Testament. He was upset that I was not following the Sun. School superintendent's curriculum in teaching us the Old Covenant is still relevant for today.....hence the not eating pork belief, and the tithing until the cows come home to "earn" a god of sorts, prosperity and favor. He didn't like me much after that and he and his wife were always following me around "looking" for sins in my life. I won't discuss their household here, but to say, it needed some work in the area of repentance and forgiveness.

I truly believe that our LORD Jesus Christ never meant for His Name, nor His Ways/Word to used and abused for profit from those who profess His Holy Name and desire to honestly follow Him. I simply don't recall the disciples nor the Apostles, becoming rich and popular amongst the masses for preaching and teaching Christ.

To the Bible studies that I have attended, credit is due....every one brings their Bibles, even though none are opened to hear the "good Word." And every one seems to love it so.

Sadly.
