We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

"The Message" Bible Is a Corruption

The following was posted on Facebook by Famine in The Land on 1/20/24.

The Message is yet another perversion of scripture. It uses flowery and mystical phrases such as "the unforced rhythms of grace" (Matthew 11:29), but it's a pile of dung. Don't read it, and if your pastor uses it, find another pastor.

Matthew 3:7 - The Message omits the word wrath...too offensive?

1 Cor 6:18 - Adulterers can be "committed" and "intimate!" The Message avoids the biblical definition of sexual immorality - anything outside of marriage or not between a man and a woman. In fact, you'll see that The Message omits the categories of sin listed in 1 Cor 6:9 ("sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,") and replaces them with "Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth and everything in it,”

Matthew 5:5 - Being content with "who you are" can mean anything - an excuse to continue in sin, an excuse to avoid repentance, an excuse to pursue the passions of the flesh.

Yep, It's Time for Another Agglomeration!

When Christians tolerate anything and everybody, you cannot guard the flock against wolves

Was Adam Historical (And Does It Really Matter)?

Lengthy, but very interesting study dating creation and Noah’s flood.

Timothy Keller: Turning Believers Into Unbelievers?

Andy Stanley just gets worse and worse.  And he keeps affirming homosexuality!

A friend asked me to find out what I could about Peggy Joyce Ruth. So I googled her name, appending the tag “false teacher.” THIS is the first thing I found, making it unnecessary to go any farther to know this woman is bad news.

Celebrity Super Pastors Praising Themselves. See how many false teachers you see. What a bunch of narcissistic, arrogant blasphemers of God. If you have the time, watch the whole 45 minutes and write out the names of each of these embarrassments to the real Church. It is almost unbelievable that they say such things.

This foolish Pope is who the Catholics look to for leadership?!? He has totally bought into the “climate change” lie.

Michael Georges Jr. is in NO way a “pastor”—he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The Gospel Coalition long ago went of the deep end, but this just makes the hole deeper.

Confused Christians.  The first part of this article is what’s important; the rest has to do with politics.

The National Cathedral in Washington, DC, is an Episcopal Church, so it doesn’t surprise me when they decide to virtually worship the fraudulent organization “Black Lives Matter.” Absolutely disgusting.

A perfect example as to what a MESS The Message Bible is.

Bethel’s Kris Vallotton teaches falsely every time he opens his mouth.

And, finally, the Babylon Bee cracked me up with this “news” about Catholics and “saints.”

“The Message” is a Mess

To purposely ignore the proper translation of a passage and insert one that has no basis in the original languages in order to undergird a particular point of view is about the most dangerous thing that I can imagine. The only thing more concerning would be to discover large segments of  the evangelical community being incapable of discerning this kind of problem -- and not caring.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
Did Jesus Approve of Homosexuality? The answer is, of course, no he did not. Be sure to read the 5 sermons by Pastor Don Green to which this article links.

A great article debunking the whole Mariolatry of the Roman Catholic Church.

Good, concise analysis of “The Message.”

I’ve known that “Holy Ghost” in old English (e.g., KJV) wasn’t as accurate as “Holy Spirit,” but I never knew why.  Now I know!

Great reference source to articles about the KJV Only movement.

The Bad and/or Ugly
The Pope really, really needs to butt out of politics/social gospel and stick to his RCC, which needs a whole lot of correction and cleaning up! The “migrants” are an invading army — PERIOD!

Roman Catholic colleges need to be held accountable by the Roman Catholic Church. Having perversions as entertainment SHOULD go against Catholic teachings.

You can’t make this stuff up!

And you can’t make this stuff up, either!

Nor can you make this stuff up.

The previous three examples are what the apostate “church” looks like. They are not Christian assemblies, and their leaders are satanic wolves.

Then there are the many “churches” who decide to be part of the world for Halloween. Instead of just ignoring the day they have to behave as everyone else!  While reading this article, take a look at what the Church by the Glades has been preaching on— proving again that it is not a church of Christ, but rather a goat-pen for the ignorant. (A closer look at Church by the Glades and their satanic celebration can be found here.)

The abject heresy of the Anglican Church; an Imam preaching a sermon.

Please educate yourself in God’s Word, and use discernment.  The devil is certainly prowling for your loyalty.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Although we are in sort of a drought, with virtually no rain for over a month (all the grass is turning brown, etc), it’s giving me time to work on fixing our deck, fixing our picket fence, digging out lilies (they’ve spread too much), etc.  On top of the yard work I’ve had a lot of piping gigs (including band gigs) keeping me busy so I’m not getting much of a chance to write articles.  Nevertheless, I’m still trying to keep up with apologetic news so I can alert my readers to some good articles as well as alert them to more about false teachings — and about the horrid stuff to beware of!

The Good:
Interesting article about how sexual immorality is turning people away from the Church — not because the Church rejects them, but because they KNOW what they are doing is wrong.

A good examination of the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation.

Excellent listing of the false teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Some excellent charts to help you decide what translation of the Bible you’d prefer.

Modern gnosticism invading the church.

The Bad:
Michael Brown exposed for his lies, as well as proof that his audience is gullible.

Jory Micah, solidly shown to be a heretic.

The questionable John Maxwell.

I get amused when Calvinists attack another respected staunch Calvinist.  They are correct about Piper’s bad stuff, though.

The Ugly:
Hillsong Leaders suffering from pride or narcissism? Part 1: Christine Caine.

The wolves continue to fleece the sheep.

The Pope is a LEFTIST hack.  He has decided to be against abortion we must also be for allowing illegal immigrants to invade our country.  Then on top of that he has decided that if you deny their is a connection between the recent hurricanes and “global warming” are denying science.  Okay, what about the scientist who claims “climate change” has nothing to do with the hurricanes, let alone the tons of research proving that “climate change” (aka global warming) is nothing but a fraud, and an agenda for more government control?  The Pope pretends to be an authority appointed by God but his LEFTIST ideology is as false as his theology!

The Message” translation is a herephrase.  I like the term.  The Message is a “mess,” as I have previously noted.

But quietly, there are the thousands of faithful Christians who practice polyamory—living lives of giftedness, dignity, and worth, but receiving next-to-no spiritual support.
Um, how can they call themselves “Christian” when they violate Christ’s teachings about marriage?  This article comes from a supposed Christian site, but their “Christianity” is all of the liberal variety, which is not Christian at all.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Well I got my computer back for the second time this past Monday, and it’s all fixed.  But it’s been a very chaotic week, so some of this stuff I’ve collected you may have already seen on other sites. On Monday I played for the graveside service after a funeral for a friend who died; 88-year-old Korean War veteran.  Tuesday the air conditioner got fixed after being without it for five hot and humid days.  Wednesday we traveled 93 miles north so I could play for a graveside service — one I got paid for!  Thursday was morning haircut and vet appointments, with evening band practice (70 miles east).  Yesterday was doing some service for an elderly couple, then up to the airport to photograph a rare, freshly restored B-29 bomber arrival, followed by a late lunch date with my wife.  Returning home for 15 minutes, we then headed back to the airport for a 3:30 appointment with a friend who works at Rockwell-Collins and who got me a pass to tour the B-29 (which was on its way to Oshkosh but stopped in Cedar Rapids to allow R.C. employees to tour it because R.C. did a lot for them).  We stood in line for 1.5 hrs and watched a nasty storm building (got some great photos of the storm) and, just when we were about 5 minutes from our turn to go inside the plane the downpour began and we were all ushered into the hangar.  Well I decided that was the end and we headed on into town to pick up photos which had been processed the previous day.  By the time we got home it was almost 7:30.  Whew!  Oh, and we got an inch of needed rain.  So now let’s look at this week’s news.

The Good:
A good examination of the reason “The Message” is to be avoided at all costs!

The Watchman Fellowship has published a profile exposing John Dominic Crossan.

Fred has posted episode six of his review of the book, “Navigating Genesis.”

Neil examines the Problems With Pro-Gay Theology.

I wish this was really true.

Good article about real spiritual warfare.

The Bad:
David Jeremiah is now promoting false teacher Sarah Young.

A Catholic university has bought into the “Islamaphobia” lie.  Wasting donors’ money.

A Trojan horse in women’s ministry.

The Ugly:

Eugene Peterson came out in favor of same-sex unions.  Oh, wait a minute, he has done some flip-flopping about them; Lifeway said they’d pull his books and suddenly he decided such unions weren’t right after all.  Another bad thing about this is that SBC leader Russell Moore says Christians should still read and learn from Peterson!

This is some old Benny Hinn stuff, including Suzanne Hinn’s teaching about a Holy Ghost enema, but it demonstrates just what charlatans they are (a commenter said that this isn’t Benny Hinn’s wife, but this article contradicts that claim).  These people are not Christians.

The love of money leads many “evangelicals” to embrace pro-gay theologyThis article demonstrates the same problem.

Mary Dalke has a very thorough study about the Roman Catholic Virgin Mary (which isn’t the Biblical mother of Jesus) and the so-called apparitions of her.  The RCC idolatry of Mary is a very ugly and demonic doctrine.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Spiritual Formation at Worship.  How this movement shows up in many churches, and who is behind it all.

Clayton Jennigs update.  And the plot thickens.  Oh, and now we have an apology video!  As if that restores him to ministry?!?!? Notice how it is similar to the second video — looks like just part of his normal acts, and very narcissistic.  The man should be forever barred from ministry of any kind.

Calvary Chapel is slowly sinking.

Joel Osteen needs to be careful about abusing Scripture.

Another good article about nonsensical spiritual warfare.  Don’t neglect to listen to the half-hour program at the bottom of the page.

I’m not the only one saying 2 Chronicles 7:14 isn’t for Christians.

Stop using “The Message”!  It’s a MESS.

More testimonies about the cult of World Race and Adventures in Missions.

Bill Johnson’s heresies at Bethel church.

Catholics and their worship of relics is totally unbiblical superstitious nonsense.

The more I learn about Michael Brown, the more I have to warn against him!!!  His manipulation tactics have been identified.

Homosexuality is invading more and more assemblies where the leadership is more concerned about being politically-correct than about protecting their flocks.  “As in the days of Noah…”

Shunning — an example of the cultic nature of the Amish.

As I’ve written in the past, Seventh-day Adventism is a cult.  But when there is not even a pretense of Christianity, it is hard to understand why people stay in it.  Can you just imagine Jesus or Paul having “interfaith” celebrations?!?

And finally, Fred Butler has posted his review of chapter one of heretic Hugh Ross’ book, Navigating Genesis.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It has been a very hectic week for me, with half my time being elsewhere but home.  When I have been home, before the rain hit the last couple days, I’ve been spending lots of time in the yard doing “spring cleaning” and helping my wife get the gardens in shape and new trees planted, etc.  Then I’ve also been involved with internet discussions with a Jehovah’s Witness and an atheist.  I really have some drafts of articles started that sometime I want to get finished and posted, and I also want to get more time on another chapter review of “New Age Bible Versions.”  Until such time, I will continue to post citations I find worthwhile for provoking thought!  For now, here is another episode of “RAAH.”

Andy Stanley has again demonstrated that he is NOT qualified to be a pastor.

Jen Hatmaker is 100% pro-perversion.  Avoid her like the plague.  (Another report)

Another Methodist “pastor” “weds” a same-sex couple.  Oh, the “pastor” is a woman.  If history is any example for us, the UMC will not discipline this woman.

Continuationism is not a non-essential doctrinal issue — Part 2.

Church by the Glades” has no idea what worship of God is.  Do they ever have anything there besides entertainment?

Just over 5 years ago I wrote an article about the false nature of the so-called “generational curses.”  Well, Mennoknight is now doing series about the topic, and here is part one.

The whole idea of “vision casting” is unbiblical nonsense, which is why so many mega-church “pastors” like it.  The leaders of LifeWay Research, as well as SBC president Ronnie Floyd, are staunch proponents of this ideology.

New Apostolic Reformation:  The apostles who don’t do anything.

WOW!!  Just WOW!  Talk about false teaching!!!!

So is the Gospel Coalition heading towards affirming perverse sexual desires?

Bono is a favorite “Christian” singer.  But is he really Christian?  He doesn’t appear to be.  Yet he’s held up as a model.  The article also gives some good information about Eugene Peterson — another one to avoid.

The Clear Word “Bible” was developed for the Seventh-day Adventist cult, so it is rife with adjustments and additions to fit their theology.  Here’s what it does to the Atonement.

False teacher Bill Hybels and Popeye.

Justin Peters has an excellent examination of “The Message” non-Bible.

Let’s lighten up now with some good satire.  The Babylon Bee takes on T.D. Jakes.  Then they nail the modern “cool worship leaders”.  I had a good chuckle to see the swipe taken at the “wildly unbiblical” book, “Wild at Heart.”  If you are as tired of the “Footprint in the Sand” story as I am, then you’ll enjoy this oneJen Hatmaker didn’t get left out either.  Finally, the foolishness of Richard Dawkins is tackled.
