We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Women need to stop trying to get in the pulpit; the Bible is very plain that this role isn’t for them.

Another review of “War Room” which doesn’t soft-soap it as so many do.

This bishop thinks that the Catholic Church—as well as the Bible—is in error in regards to homosexual behavior.  He says, “scientific progress allows us to modify this point of view. First of all, one knows that homosexuality exists also in the world of animals.”  Well, it really doesn’t, but that’s another subject.  And even if it did, well in the world of animals they eat their young but would we justify humans eating their young because of it?  The article points out, “With his reference to the animal world, Bonny tries to show that the natural instinct for heterosexuality, as put into nature by God, might not exist, after all.”  So Mr. Bonny even argues that heterosexuality does not exist.  So why isn’t he excommunicated yet?

I have previously written about the false teachings of the “Generational Curse,” but I found a great article that needs to be a good additional resource.

Excellent commentary on a very abused passage of Scripture.  And, yes, I’ve heard these same convoluted explanations and yet I fully understood the real meaning.

Another abused Scripture is also examined.

What happens when you listen to a false teacher?  You get disappointed every time.  And here's why.

Jim Wallis is one of the worst wolves out there.

Mary Dalke warns us of a new spiritually-dangerous book by Jennifer LeClaire:  Mornings With the Holy Spirit.  And go figure—Charisma magazine recommends it.  There are a few other things Mary notes on this post as a warning of what Christians need to avoid.

The Porpoise Driven Life.  Funny, but really demonstrates the way Christians follow every whim of doctrine and every fad.

Convenient Christianity is the false Christianity most so-called Christians follow today.

Why hasn’t the Pope excommunicated these bishops for sanctioning same-sex fake marriage?

Again I remind everyone that, contrary to many false teachings, Christians do not tithe!

Priscilla Shirer is a false teacher much like Beth Moore, with a lot of the same problems.  Avoid her like the plague.

I have previously reported on the horrid book, “Pagan Christianity” in other “Random” posts, but I thought this article was a worthwhile reminder of the problems with the book.

Joel Osteen never tires of writing new books full of false teachings to fleece his followers.  This guy has absolutely no shame.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

The week goes by so quickly and there are so many things to report!

One of the things that liberal Christians hate is the FACT that the Bible teaches what is known as “complementarianism” in regards to roles of men and women in the church and family.  Liberals teach “egalitarianism” - that there are no different role for men and women in the church or family.  This subject blew up in the news recently because actress Candace Cameron Bure had the audacity to write a book about proper biblical roles for wives.  This, of course, gave the liberals a hissy-fit, with a feminist being particularly angered.  Stan even weighed in on Bure’s side.
Of course, the proper roles as instructed in the Bible scare the liberals.

As if Michael Brown’s attack on the “Strange Fire” conference wasn’t enough (I’m looking forward to reading these reviews), now we have Frank Viola putting in his two-cents’ worth.  Viola isn’t known for being strong on orthodoxy or church history (as demonstrated in the book, “Pagan Christianity,” which he co-authored with George Barna).  Apparently his new book about “Strange Fire” isn’t any better than Pagan Christianity when it comes to revising facts to fit his ideology.

I read a very interesting confession of a pastor who once allowed Gothardism in his church - to his regret.

Calvary Chapel, as a denomination, has had a pretty good record over the years for being fairly fundamental in their teachings.  I know around my neck of the woods I have no problem recommending the local CC assemblies, and I’ve always - in the past - have read how solid they are overall.  Well, sad to say, over the past few years there has been more and more turning away from solid teaching at CC as contemplative and mystical teaching has entered some assemblies.  News from Lighthouse Trails Research about Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa’s sanctioning of horrid “worship” in England really gets my head spinning.  The video of the sanctioned event, showing not only a bizarre “hard rock” version of “Amazing Grace,” but also the lead singer’s immodest attire.  I see nothing in the video which even HINTS at giving praise to anyone but the performers.

Still another bit of information about the bad teachings by Sarah Young in her book, “Jesus Calling.”  Did you know that Jesus told Sarah about the “filthy stable” in which He was born?

Then, of course, there is arch-heretic Benny Hinn.  Think of all the damage he has done to those who follow him!

This past Sunday was “Sanctity of Human Life Sunday,” and yesterday the nation celebrated the birthday of Martin Luther King.  Neil Simpson exposes the liberal agenda of false teachers by what was taught on Sunday.  Sigh.

Finally, I have to say that there is no way I’d go to listen to a 16-year-old “pastor.”  I’d say the very first qualification he is lacking is that he is not old enough to be an “elder.”  The video of his sermon delivered while 10-years-old seriously abused the passage about David and Goliath so as to give support for his preaching as a young person.   I just don’t understand what it is about these types of “churches” who put kids in the pulpit.  Take a look in the Bible at the qualifications to be an elder, and then let me know which of these this boy has met.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

First, an update on Andy Stanley’s apparent approval of homosexuality.  I’d say with the language he uses against Christians - i.e., calling us “judgmental, homophobic, moralists” - demonstrates his sympathies.  It really looks like Stanley is joining the Emergent wolves.
Roman Catholics really need to clean up their house.  Here’s another example of Romanists supporting all that is unholy: Catholics in Media, a group which purports to recognize movies and television shows that “[make] clearer the Word of God” and “help us better understand what it is to be part of the human family,” has given an award to “Modern Family,” a sitcom with a homosexual couple.  The show is anything BUT a proper “human family,” and surely denigrates the Word of God.  Why has the Pope not condemned this group?
The Episcopal Church continues its blatant support of same-sex fake marriage.  Four of their so-called bishops came out in complete opposition to the North Carolina constitutional amendment  [link gone by 12/16/16] which was to prevent re-defining marriage to include same-sex unions.    And yet the Episcopal Church does not excommunicate these “bishops.”
Of course their “mother church,” the Church of England, has the same problem with advocacy of same-sex fake marriage.  A lay minister has been temporarily banned from preaching because he had the audacity to speak up for real marriage.
As I have stated before, Mark Driscoll is not qualified to be a pastor.  This article examines his attitude towards those taking a doctrinal stance on teaching.  Yeah, Driscoll’s cool - a cool wolf.
Rick Warren’s Saddleback church keeps proving how far they keep going from orthodoxy.  Believe it or not, their men’s group studied heretic Joyce Meyer’s horrid teaching in her book, “Battlefield of the Mind.”  This book is rife with false teaching!  What is any Christian group, let a lone a men’s group, doing studying this false teacher’s material?!?
More on T.D. Jakes, and whether or not he is truly a false teaching heretic.  I’d say anyone who praises Paul Crouch for anything has absolutely NO discernment.  Jakes is solidly in the Word of Faith crowd.
The book, “Pagan Christianity,” by Gene Edwards and Frank Viola, has certainly caused a lot of division in the church.  A friend of mine swears by that book, and is part of a home church built on ideas from it.  I had never read the book until this friend kept telling me how great some of the teachings were - which I told him were wrong - so I finally went out and bought the book and read it last year.  I came across a site this week which really dissects this book, demonstrating all the errors and historical revisionism.  I highly recommend visiting “Pagan Christianity?” and perusing the articles.  Aside from addressing that book, it also has a good review on the heretical book, “The Shack,” as well as an article on Viola in general.
More information about “The Voice” translation of the Bible.  I guess I’m a bit behind on this version, although I mentioned some reviews in a previous “Random” post in April.  This week I came across this article by Lighthouse Trails Research demonstrating the “translation” is indeed no more than a prop for the Emergent church.  Don’t waste your money on it.
Erin has more about heretic Shane Hipps at Willow Creek.  The fact that Willow Creek would even invite him to speak demonstrates the lack of discernment in the leadership.  Reading what Erin has to say about Hipps explains why it was unconscionable for Willow Creek leadership to have him speak there.

I came across this interesting article about why gender really matters in Christian counseling.  This is certainly something which should be considered by all Christians.

Finally, I was really amused by this article about Hindus wanting to take yoga back. [link gone by 12/16/16] There are way too many “Christian Yoga” classes going on.  Ladies and gentlemen, yoga is a blatant Hindu practice and cannot in any way, shape or form be “Christianized.”  If you have been practicing this, leave it immediately.
