A good commentary about David and Bathsheba, and where the blame lies for the sin.
A few weeks ago, on a “Some Good Stuff To Read” post, I posted a link to an article on modesty over at “Watch Your Life and Doctrine Closely.” Well, I’m going to repost that link along with links to the rest of the series:
A couple years ago Tim Challies also had some good articles on modesty:
Along this same line is an article by Gary Gilley, “A Matter of Purity.”
I trust you will find these articles as thought-provoking as I did.

Hi Glenn,
I appreciated the links. This is a topic not often discussed in church. That said, for me, Unger's series has been a bit much, and I find the constant cliffhangers wearisome. From a simple reading of Scripture, I see the admonishment to women to have a God-ward heart posture, to be distinctively female, to not flaunt wealth (whether one actually has it or not!), and to not dress as the harlot. That is the sum total of what modesty is.

Hi Carolyn,
I didn't realize Unger wasn't finished. So today I added another link to his summation, which I think you might appreciate.
Hi Glenn...
Unger still has one more left, even after this one. But yes he got more to the point in this most recent post, at least for me.

PS - about Unger's most recent post (what is supposed to be his second to last post of the series). I did find him stretching a bit toward hyperbole... I understand his point about a woman not flaunting wealth, but seriously, have you ever met any woman who came to church with a $4300 designer label handbag or a $4300+ iPad case?) I haven't, ever. Maybe he has. But I have not. Even though I agree with him, it made it more difficult for me to take his argument seriously when his examples were so far-fetched.
And, no, the "neon green DARE fanny pack" is not an equivalent comparison to a black ladies' handbag/purse. I do hope that he wasn't being serious, his "I'm a fella" card notwithstanding.
Yes, I do have a sense of humor. But in this case, it pretty much expired due to the ad nauseam cliffhangers. :)
Thanks again for posting these links, and of course thanks to the believers who wrote them.

OR (I just noticed this after typing my last post) a $19,800 "sky blue" whatever that thing is. Seriously, brother Lyndon!!!!!!! Come on, what Christian woman ever has gone to church carrying that "sky blue" thing?
-Carolyn
Carolyn,
Yes it was hyperbole. Which is the logic of reducing to the absurd to make a point.
I guess I have more tolerance for humor. :)
Ok, with my sense of humor now repaired and intact, and my spirit refreshed from knowing there wasn't a single cliffhanger left to endure :) , I caught up with Lyndon's last installment. Glad you found it as well. I appreciated his conclusion. :) I think he did a nice job in the final 2 posts to "wrap it all up".
Yes, that last sentence was said truthfully... yet... alright, can't I throw in a pun here or there? Maybe not.

I don't know how many people will be coming back to this post looking to see when I post the last edition, so I'm also going to note it in my next random good stuff.
