We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Contrary to the teachings of Jonathan Cahn and his ilk, America is NOT the new Israel.

Steve Bricker has a good analysis of a blog post by false teacher Jen Hatmaker.  This woman really needs to learn what the Bible says rather than what she wants it to say.

Tim Keller seems to forget that we had a reformation, as he promotes Roman Catholicism.  I’d say anyone who promotes the RCC is a false teacher, wouldn’t you?

Roman Catholics really have no right to claim apostolic succession, infallibility of teaching or anything else related to Christianity as long as so many of their private schools promote ungodly teachings.  I have posted TOO MANY of these examples on this blog.

Of course the Roman Catholic Church continues to meddle in politics to force the world to accept their social gospel message, this time by supporting the false “climate change” narrative.  More proof that the RCC does NOT represent God.

The Greek Orthodox Church is demonstrating their own apostasy

An excellent review of the latest Beth Moore Simulcast event, demonstrating more reasons why Beth Moore is a false teacher who needs to be avoided.  This is followed up by a companion article about Beth’s issue of romancing Jesus, along with the whole “Jesus is my boyfriend” theology.

Way too many “Christians” are looking for a “Donut Church.”  Their site really makes some good points about today’s apostate church.

This is what happens when you make a woman a bishop.

A good examination of the problems with the Catholic Mary.  Not as detailed as my article on the subject, but certainly a great summation.

A PCUSA heretic, Mark Sandlin, has gotten to the point of virtually worshipping abortion, and lies about what the Bible, early Christians, and even science say about the unborn child.  If you have to lie to support your ideology, that should say something about how false it is.

I just this week learned of a new Bible translation, the “Modern English Version.”  Supposedly just an update of the KJV with modern English.  So what is the point?  Another way to make money off of God’s Word?  A new “KJV Only” prop?  Or developed for a niche group (endorsements seem to be from charismatic people)?  And don’t we already have an updated language version of the KJV — the KJVER — for the KJV only folks (although some KJVOs don't like it because it isn't "real" KJV)?  Why do we need another translation when we have good, accurate, formal translations already?

Finally, it is really good to hear of a pastor who stands his ground on the Word of God.  If only more would do so.

The Tim Keller article is exceptionally clear about the man's theology and direction. The author does a good job in bringing out the difference between his "New Calvinism" and the reformation Calvinism of people like William Webster and Charles Spurgeon. Church Growth (no matter if it is named or not) weakens Christian churches and comes from an idea that the church needs to be recreated. Just exactly what Tim Keller says he wanted to do.

And from the article it seems the Gospel Coalition is his creation, too. Is this an outgrowth of his vision to recreate the local church? Wonder whatever happened to another of Mr Keller's fruits: BioLogos - the organization set up to cause people to question the truth of Genesis.

Yet people still follow and defend Mr. Keller. When will American Christians wise up. Sigh.

Hi Glenn,

The "meme" was particularly amusing this week.

I agree with you, in that using "entertainment" to try to draw the lost to Christ is an abomination. I believe in preaching the truth, and that people will either accept or reject the Gospel. Scripture is clear, Christ died for all mankind, but sadly few find life. I stay away from the Calvin/Arminian debate. I have believing friends on both sides of the issue, as well as those who hold the middle ground - allowing for true agency of man amidst God's sovereignty, as well as security of the genuinely converted.

I've been raising the warnings about Keller for some time now, and yet I get criticized for doing so. He's a virtual idol to some people.

Yes, Tim Keller is stil idolized. And especially so here in New York.

At the same site you linked above, there are a few other interesting articles. One convincingly described Tim Keller's Marxist economic ideas coming out of the "Frankfurt School" in pre-Nazi Germany. The "Frankfurt School" link is curious, as it ties him to Peter Drucker and Fritz Kraemer. Both Drucker and Kraemer had clear and determined designs on the redefinition and recreation of American culture. Peter Drucker is still considered a business hero, despite the destruction of American industry which coincidentally occurred as American businesses adopted his ideas. Later in Drucker's life, when he realized that recreating American business was not going to effect the changes he sought in American society, he turned his attention to the church. This just happened to be when celebrity pastors and megachurches, and the church growth movement, started to become endemic. Online biographies and descriptions of Drucker seem to ignore or downplay this dark legacy.

Fritz Kraemer is ignored by history, yet was responsible for mentoring Henry Kissinger, Alexander Haig, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Peter Drucker. Think how much influence these men have had on America. Kraemer was the head of the National Security Council under Ronald Reagan.

Kraemer was born to a wealthy German family, possibly associated with the IG Farben cartel. He came to the US from Nazi Germany in 1943 and immediately went to work with Army Intelligence. One of Hitler's top generals was Fritz Kraemer. It's believed that the Nazi General Fritz Kraemer and the Army Intelligence Fritz Kraemer were the same man. (source: Mae Brussell, World Watchers radio broadcast transcript 787, January 5, 1987).

All of this history is very old, circumstantial and obscure. But isn't it a strange coincidence that some of the pagans who were committed to destroying Christianity have influenced the people like Tim Keller who are forming American Christianity today?

Alec,

Drucker, yup. You are right about the mega pastors that have embraced him, and the American church with them.

Glenn, thank you for sharing the links to my articles.

Sharon,

You are quite welcome. Thank you for your hard work exposing what happened with Moore's simulcast. Moore's false teachings need to be exposed as often and as widely as possible.

Belated thanks for mentioning my post. I had heard rumblings about Jen Hatmaker, and that post pretty much established that the rumors were true.

Re standing on the Word of God, specifically Genesis...

I just saw this brief article---
http://katesolomon.tumblr.com/post/132528172529/dinosaur-feather-find-sheds-new-light-on

What should we think about the possibility that there were feathered dinosaurs? Or does it not matter within the Body of Christ? I always puzzle over information like this.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Hello Anonymous,

Firstly, "dinosaur" means "terrible lizard," but evolutionists are more and more calling anything they find a "dinosaur," regardless of the type of creature. And their ideology says birds evolved from lizards, which is a total impossibility due to things like changing from cold-blooded to warm-blooded, changing scales to feathers, etc.

Within science, let alone Christianity, there can be no such thing as a feathered lizard. REAL science, not pseudo-science of evolutionism. And since it is impossible - as evolution itself is - it has no bearing on the Christian faith.

When this fossil was first in the news, Answers in Genesis posted an article about what was really found vs what the claims were, and you might find it to be worthwhile to read:

Thank you for that link, sir.

Is it valid/useful for us to pray that the Lord will guide paleontologists to finds that simply cannot be interpreted by ANY stretch of the imagination as supporting evolution or filling in a missing link/gap in the fossil record?
