We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

The Good - For Education and/or Edification

Admonishing with tears — the job of apologists. And it SHOULD be the job of pastors and elders.

Formerly known as male and female.  Thought-provoking article.

Good review of Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life.” One of my problems not noted here is his hard-line Calvinist predetermines. Warren said that God created everyone specifically (rather than allowing undirected procreation) so that every thing about you was predetermined, e.g. eye color, vision, hearing, deformations, etc. This would be a horrible God.

Clint has another review; this time it is of Jerry Falwell’s Building Dynamic Faith.

Christians and slavery: Many got it wrong and embraced it.

HMMMM

More Wolves and False Teachings
Here’s a group I haven’t mentioned for a while: World Race.  Very cultic with false teachings.

I’ve never heard of Doreen Virtue, but I sure learned a lot about this false teacher at Mary Dalke’s blog.  Very “New Age.”

Beth Moore — Again!  She’s a flaming hypocrite.

Catholics and their absurd superstitions. There is no such thing as “holy water” to begin with!

For all its claims, Zondervan is no longer (and hasn’t been for a long time) a “Christian-based” publisher, as evidenced by their latest Enneagram movie.

Lou Giglio has been on my “RADAR” for a long time, but looking back through my articles I see most of the links I had to articles about him were on a site since taken down—which is actually the old side of Clint Adams. To help you see that Giglio is a false teacher, Clint Adams has an excellent review of one of Giglio’s books.

This is what apostasy looks like. Muslims are taught to eradicate Christians, Jews, and anyone not accepting the Muslim faith.

Glenn,

I agree admonishing should be the job of pastors and elders, but also honestly it is not just their responsibility. The Spirit gives all of us spiritual gifts, and often the ordinary Christians have been given better discernment than the leaders. Leaders should listen to those wise believers.

But sadly, yes, many pastors and elders do not guard the flock, and often heap on those believers who bring genuine concerns to them. Even worse, sometimes the leaders are the ones who import the errors in to the church!
