We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Did They Really Say That?!?

This only proves that the Pope speaks for Satan rather than for Christ.

President Bush to the reporter watched via the television set, quote, "Yes I believe Muslims and Christians worship the same god."

Jesus wasn't a conservative Republican that day. Psalm 118:8-9

Enough said.

Jesus has NEVER been a "conservative Republican." Conservative, yes; Republican, no.

Jesus was beyond the labels we use, republican, democrat, whatever.

Cue up the Picard meme...

And amen to your comment, Glenn.

Jesus wasn't a conservative either....how we love to label our Savior in humanistic terms. Sorry Glen, agree with you on many topics, but when it comes down to labeling Jesus, just can't go there for His Ways are so much different/far more glorious than man's ways.

Haven't met a truly humble 'conservative' yet, roaming this planet.

"Conservative" covers many things. Jesus was "conservative" in that he was fundamental in his faith, in that he taught real marriage, taught biblical morality, proper place for politics (render to Caesar...), etc.

How can you meet a "truly humble 'conservative'" when there are no truly humble people?

Remarkable quote.

And even more remarkable that so many evangelicals and Reformed these days think the Pope is a holy man.

Glen,

I respect your blog and love you as a brother in Christ Jesus. I WAS once a Democrat, married and attended a Republican family and church, then was born again by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, and am now neither for the governments of the world are upon Jesus' shoulders.

And to be perfectly honest, some of the meanest, most abusive people (emotional, verbal, and physical) people ARE Republicans wearing a very thin veneer of what resembles Christianity.

I have yet to hear a Republican share the Gospel of Jesus, our LORD, in the public political arena as they blast the Democrats for being heathens.

I truly believe with no ounce of doubt, the Republican party is an equal opportunity player at the table, leading us to that one world order which will consist of a multifaceted cultural system of the beast.

Watch the next election as it draws near and the dirty, rotten games people play on both sides of the political fence and see which one is Holy when compared to Jesus.

There is no light of Christ in either party.

Anonymous,

I am not defending any political party. I was only countering your statement that Jesus wasn't a "conservative." Republican and conservative are not synonymous. I was pointing out what conservative MEANS in reality, not how politicians abuse it.

To many liberal "Christians" paint Jesus as a liberal, with the social gospel, approval of abortion, approval of homosexuality, approval of socialism, non-literal interpretation of Genesis, etc. My point is that even under current definitions, Jesus would always be conservative in his stance. I even wrote an article refuting the claim that Jesus was liberal:
http://watchmansbagpipes.blogspot.com/2011/08/was-jesus-liberal.html

On the other topic -- politics -- there are really only two viable political parties in our system. I believe that no Christian should ever vote Democrat because of all the ungodly stances in their platform: abortion, sex education, same-sex fake marriage, sexual immorality in general, theft (redistribution of the wealth), anti-God, etc. How can anyone who claims the Name of the Lord vote for people who believe and promote these things into law?

While a large percentage of Republicans are RINO's, the Republican platform is more aligned with God's worldview. So I will always vote Republican - but mostly as voting against Democrat.

But, Glenn, haven't you heard? The two unifying principles of religion are the Universal Fatherhood of God and the Universal Brotherhood of Man. So you see ...?

Yeah, right. Got it. Except that Christianity denies it. So when a so-called "leader of Christianity" affirms what the Bible denies, we can be sure where that so-called leader stands.
