We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Evangelism Must Start With Creation

If we start with a message of sin, without giving the context of Creation, then we will come across to nonbelievers as merely negative and judgmental.

I personally am not worried about the unbelievers that do not believe in the Creation account. In fact, we should be concerned about those preachers (I have heard them in their Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Assembly of God, and Pentecostal/charismatic churches) who do not preach or teach the literal 6 day creation with God resting on the seventh day. And we should be concerned with all of those young people who spend volumes of money attending 'christian' colleges, indoctrinated by their professors into believing in all forms of evolutionary theories, then coming back home to argue with us what their PHD professors taught them in class.

The popular Scripture used and abused by these pastors/Christian college professors is 'in the Bible, "a day is as a thousand years."

So thankful our children are attending a secular colleges for we warned them of these things beforehand, and they do not have college debt to pay off when they graduate. A borrower is the slave to the lender.

It's not about worrying whether or not they believe the Creation account - the point is that without the foundation of the Creation account you have no place to start teaching the Gospel.

I agree that those church leaders who teach other than the true Biblical account of creation are teaching people to read the Bible any way they want, and leading them away from the truth. Which is why we as Christians should also abandon the public school system and the secular colleges (I'm thinking from context that you meant your children are NOT attending secular colleges).

Thank-you for responding Glen. In our family, our children attending public school and secular colleges, not the Christian college system. I know, we are looked DOWN upon by the homeschooling families in our area and the comments/speech patterns they choose when visiting with us parents is, for lack of better words, just plain hateful. Superiority, self righteousness, and the worldiness of their own lives lead no one to Jesus, just the opposite.

The point I was trying to make is, I do business with Christian college graduates, so the topic of the Bible comes up often. And when I share that I was blessed to have a couple of very strong followers of Christ as teachers in the public school system, the conversations segue into the topic of creation. One of my Christian teachers was a Science/Earth Science teacher and he instructed us that the theory of evolution was in fact "a theory" with no true and pure scientific evidence that the earth was millions and billions of years old. He taught us the correct definition of "theory" and "hypothesis," from a scientific perspective. And when it was time to write our end of the unit term paper, he assigned us to write our own views based on the information and evidence available to us, and stated "you can use your Bibles if that is the direction you want to go with your paper."

Years later, I am in contact with Christian college graduates, who tell me straight out that God did NOT create the earth and everything in it in 6 literal days, it is just not possible. They tell me that god used evolution in creating the earth for "a day is as a thousand years" as learned by their Christian college professors. I am told by these young CC graduates that I do not know anything because I am not a college professor and they trust their professors above and beyond someone like me.

In visiting Christian colleges in our area, one of the questions we ask professors/admission counselors is this; "What is your belief concerning the creation verses evolution teachings?"

Glen, not one single Christian college (and we have visited four) has stated they believe or promote the Creation account as worded in the Bible. No, not a one. Their response is this, "We allow the individual, based on their faith background, to believe either the creation or the evolutionary teachings that are out their because we promote diversity of belief here at this college."

There it is. Our children, although not homeschooled, were taught the Bible in our home during their growing years, so the foundation of Christ was laid at an early age.....and as a Sunday School teacher for years and years, you may find it surprising to know that many parents within the most conservative churches do not appreciate the teachers spending time learning the creation account in context according to God's Word. In today's Sunday School system, it is more important to eat muffins and donuts and play games and just talk around the campfire so to speak, instead of opening up our Bible and learning verse upon verse, what our LORD says to us.

The missionary field is wide open here in our communities. Praise our LORD, He is KING, not we.

Anonymous,

Those who look down on Christians still in the public school system are being sinful in their attitudes from the get-go - and legalistic. I highly recommend NO ONE with any sanity remain in the public school IN GENERAL, but there are good school systems still out there, so it becomes a matter of discernment as to how good or how bad one's particular system is. And as you point out, Christian schools aren't necessarily teaching "Christian" worldview either!

When our public school system got to be really horrid (we had to deprogram our kids consistently), we finally went to a Christian school when our kids were in 8th and 5th grades. That lasted a year because they were using the same textbooks provided by the state, the Science teacher was 100% evolutionist, and the behavior problems with the students were no different than in the public schools, nor was discipline any different. After that year we home-schooled.

I got a good chuckle over your comments about Sunday School -- generally speaking, you hit the nail on the head! Yes, the missionary field is wide open close by, but the churches are always sending their teens on "missionary" trips all over the world.

Glenn,

You said, "...but the churches are always sending their TEENS on "missionary" trips all over the world."

There's a point that bothers me. Jesus was 30 years old when He began His ministry. The original apostles and disciples were all full grown, adult men and women. Not teenagers.
