We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

March for Jesus?

Consider the March for Jesus, which brings literally millions around the world into the streets to “celebrate Jesus.”  This massive display of loyalty to Christ is intended to show the world that Christians are a large and powerful segment of society that can’t be suppressed but must be given their rights as much as demonstrating homosexuals.  Marches let the politicians know that here is a large voting block [sic] to be appeased.

In The Star of 2000, Jay Gary boasts that “the March for Jesus is becoming the world’s biggest street party.”  Is that really why Christ came, so that street parties could be held in His name?  March For Jesus literature encourages everyone including Catholics and even Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims to join Christians in the Jesus celebration.  How can those who embrace religions and philosophies that oppose Christ express appreciation for Him?  Does this not produce pseudofollowers of Christ, as far from the truth as those in John 2, 6 and 8 and as much opposed to the gospel?  Gandhi admired Jesus but remained a Hindu whose very admiration for his false “Christ” prevented him from knowing the real Jesus and why He came.

Dave Hunt, “Why Christ Came,” The Berean Call, December 1995

The “March for Jesus” is a total waste of time for Christians.  It accomplishes absolutely nothing in the way of preaching the gospel or leading people to Christ.

March For Jesus.??. Never heard of it.

How very sad, but speaks loudly of the mindset of most "christians" in America.

I don't think it's as big as it once was. I haven't heard about it for a while.

hymns that preach said...

I have the same attitude about the "National Day of Prayer" and the "Meet You At The Pole" events.

Third the motion to Ralph M. Petersen- always right in this case.

Attended a wedding service this summer where a Lutheran woman pastor (most of the Lutheran synods in our area have women as pastors/leadership)married a muslim young man to a Lutheran young woman. Interesting service; the best man prayed a muslim prayer to allah and the Lutheran woman pastor prayed as well.

Couldn't join in either prayer, just sat there stunned....for we did not know the groom was a muslim until their god was acknowledged.

Ecumenism is alive and well,

on the streets and in our 501c. 3 churches. Even my mother-in-law tried to convince me all of us worship the same god as she attends a "Bible study" and is far more spiritual than myself. Her claim: Ishmael and Isaac same from the same father, therefore, both worship the same God. It is becoming more and more difficult to reason by virtue of God's Holy Word with the "churched and Bible study participants" for they are receiving and believing the lies.

What is happening here?

Anonymous,

What is happening here is that the world is taking over because it appears to be more "fun" than the Church.

As for the Lutheran church with women leaders, that only happens in the ELCA (as far as I know); the LCMS would never do that. The ELCA is extremely liberal and long ago lost the right to call itself a Christian denomination. Your example of the wedding is evidence of that.

Glen,

There are three different Lutheran synods represented in our small community, ELCA, WELS, and LCMS. My intentions are not to embarrass you nor take issue with you as a brother in Christ Jesus. The ELCA and LCMS church systems both have women pastors as their heads and the WELS has a male pastor that was one of the vocal opponents against our daughter speaking of God in her graduation speech. She only had three small sentences concerning our faith in God, the precious Name of Jesus, was not even mentioned in her class address. The Wels pastor/wife are strict adherents to the philosophy "separation of church and state," thus God, the Holy Spirit, who lives and reigns within His temples (our earthly bodies) is to be left at the door of the school, and the "statist" mentality must replace individual faith.

I came out of the Lutheran system of religion for when a born again believer speaks of Jesus in their every day conversation within those buildings made with brick and mortar, you are labeled as a "Jesus freak" and the pew sitters don't want a thing to do with you. They look at you as if you were crazy or something! Not kidding here, sadly.

And I personally have not witnessed a monumental difference in the lifestyles of the conservative verses the liberal. I was told by a conservative "Covenant" church woman that is okay for our children to live together now days, for times have changed. I speak truth here.....and our conservative Assemblies of God pastor was caught pursuing a married woman in our church.....after several other women came forward in the past with the same allegations, only the leadership made them out to be liars. And it is understood that we are to forgive the conservative much quicker than the liberal because of their political affiliation...meanwhile Jesus was neither liberal nor conservative.

I clearly see our nation falling and failing with each passing governmental administration, whether republican or democrat, because we are advancing quickly towards one world government: communitarianism+ corporate fascism+ government.

And Jesus said He will return when the times are "as in the days of Noah." Perhaps the river is flowing in that direction much faster than we realize.

I'm not familiar with WELS, but I can't imagine the LCMS having women in leadership. That is not in their doctrine. My wife was raised LCMS and after we married we worshipped and LCMS until getting fed up with Luther over Scripture.

LCMS is very fundamental. Either they have recently changed or you have a rogue LCMS assembly if there is a woman leader.

You are correct that often one can't tell the difference between a liberal Christian and a conservative Christian, but that is more often the fault of the individual rather than the teaching of the assembly they attend. And yes, too often conservatives turn a blind eye to premarital sex.
