We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Credentials, Part 5

The books in this post are two topics:  (1) Christian doctrine and (2) History of the Bible, Bible Versions, Textual Criticism, etc. I have read every one of these from cover-to-cover. For both these topics, I don’t agree with all of them but study them to understand different viewpoints—something necessary for proper apologetics study.

You have read quite a bit in the translation/KJV debate! I have read 3-4 of those books and listened to both sides of that debate for years and I don't get the derision by some folks for the KJV (or the hatred for newer translations from the KJV only crowd). I own and read the NASB (1977 and 1995), KJV, NKJV and ESV. I consider all of those reliable and useful for serious bible study. I use the NASB the most of those four, but read all of them on a regular basis. I completely avoid the NIV (especially the "updated" version) and all the other looser translations/paraphrases (New Living, Good News, The Message, etc).

I became a Christian while using the NASB back in January 1974, so I like it as a formal translation. My favorite version is the Holman Christian Standand, which is more formal than the NIV but still more dynamic than NASB. I use the ESV for church since that is what they use.
