We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

What’s next for the SBC — helping Molech worshipers build an altar?  Helping Mormons build a temple?  I can just see the Apostles suggesting that, can you?  NOT!

Bible version for “millennials” — you’ve got to be kidding!  How much more blasphemy will be tolerated?

Joyce Meyer — sigh!

One I’ve not heard of previously — at least not that I remember: Black Hebrew Israelites.

Famous Word of Faith heretic Jan Crouch had a massive stroke and will likely not recover.  It’s sad that she never knew the real Christ.

Steven Furtick — this guy is getting out of hand!

Speaking of Jan Crouch, The Babylon Bee hits the nail on the irony head!

Sid Roth and Tim Sheets nonsense will cost you $39.00.  Sadly, this video shows how easily people are deceived by false prophets with their totally unbiblical claims, blaspheming God by lying about Him. (They “cleaned cancer up off the floor”!??!)

Examining CCM lyrics (which I have often done) — this looks like it could be a very informative series!

Another Beth Moore clone, Tess Womack, also claims to receive revelations from God for her “Enlighten Hearts” ministry.  Be sure to avoid her teachings, and don’t even bother thinking about her upcoming event, “Overflow.”  You can be sure it will be a “Beth Mooreish” type narcissism event.

“Gay Christianity” is actually another cult.  It is also “A Fatal Theological Oxymoron.”

Here is an example of all that is wrong with the Episcopal Church: a female “priest” says that LGBT people will “revitalize” Christianity.  Well, one never knows; if REAL Christians get off their duffs and fight against sexual perversion invading the Church, maybe Christianity can be “revitalized”!

Machen warned, “The growth of ignorance in the Church is the logical and inevitable result of the false notion that Christianity is a life and not also a doctrine; if Christianity is not a doctrine then of course teaching is not necessary to Christianity. But whatever may be the causes for the growth of ignorance in the Church, this evil must be remedied.” Continue reading at Does Doctrine Matter Anymore?   Some interesting discussion of Andy Stanley’s false teaching is included.

As a follow-on to Gilley’s article, here is another article about Andy Stanley’s church which certainly describes a goat pen more than a sheep pen.

Aaannndddd finally, with a new movie version of “The Shack” coming up, it is time we look again at why that book is a horrid mishmash of aberrations and heresy.

Glenn,

The SBC article... Whaaaaaat?... Am I reading this right?????

Crouch, now dead, just learned the truth...

Weekly CCM lyric examination series, painful. I'll have to skip that, so I don't get ill.

Hi Glenn,

* The Shack

I've turned around completely in regard to this book. A pastor I used to respect got into a huge kerfuffle after he recommended "The Shack" on his podcast. He claimed it was "just a story" and "a great one" and that people were reading too much into it. When the controversy did not end I checked the book out of the library and read it for myself.

How could a Christian pastor - shephard! - encourage Christians to imbibe such anti-Christian toxicity?

Fiction has a profound ability to influence. Mainstream fiction books can sometimes show anti-Christian bias. One example I read recently is John Brunner's "Stand on Zanzibar". But there's something far more disturbing about books like "The Shack" which pretend to be a friend of Christians.

If only "The Shack" were poorly written. Unfortunately it's like a Harry Potter for the churchianity sect.

Disgusting.
