We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

So a Catholic school is now allowing a teacher in a fake marriage to continue working, because the new policy is “in line” with the schools “missions and beliefs”?!?!  Since when do Catholic beliefs include supporting same-sex fake marriage?

Another installment in the review of “Purpose-Driven Life”:
On Purpose

Anatomy of an Evangelical Scandal.  How often have we seen this process?

Something for Catholics to think about, as well as for the rest of us to see a major problem with Roman Catholicism!

What the Duggars Get Wrong About Chastity.”  Excellent article from a Roman Catholic.   My son married into a family which practiced the same thing, which was a real trial for my son.  Legalism is always a trial.

Randy White has a good video demonstrating the problem with Calvinism’s “Total Depravity.”  I’m sure if you looked for the rest of the series, you’d find stuff just as good.

Mary Dalke uses Mondays to post articles about mysticism entering the church.  Mondays would be a good to watch her blog for this. And don’t forget her Wednesday “round-ups” of various false teaching updates.

Your sexuality is NOT your identity.

The Church by the Glades is like so many other mega churches—teaching “air burritos.”  Good lesson on hermeneutics.

A feminist “Bible scholar” interprets the Bible to condone homosexuality — surprise!

Interesting article with a collection of Andy Stanley’s false teachings (some of which I’ve previously reported).  This guy is quickly going downhill.

Word of Faith heretic Paula White is not only dangerous with her teachings, but her marital life is completely unbiblical and would disqualify her from her position if she was a man!  But even worse, her new husband recommends pornography (I wonder how much time he spends on porn each day?)

Binding Satan is above your pay grade.  And it is charismatic nonsense.

The modern “heaven tourism” movement is something to avoid.

An excellent review of the “War Room.”  Worst one the Kendrick brothers have made.

Willow Creek mega-church is spiraling fast into apostasy.

Is there any remaining doubt that the PCUSA is totally apostate?

Hi Glenn,

Willow Creek is heading into apostasy? Say it ain't so! Sorry for the sarcasm, but saw that one coming miles away. A couple of years ago, my husband and I, again to no avail, tried to warn a local pastor in our area who was heading down the Willow Creek trail.

Sad that Catholics can see the problem with the Duggar view on chastity. They are right, teaching that all touch might have "connotations" sexualizes everything innocent. That's heart breaking, it makes a society fearful instead of loving. Of course no human works nor human will can keep one's heart pure. Only the indwelling Holy Spirit can do that, when one is born again. Sorry your son married into that thinking. Must have been hard for you and Jill, too.

Randy White's sermon link is longer than I expected, I'd have to set some time aside for that. I think though one verse that made me think on the issue: 2 Peter 2:1. The word "bought" here in reference to the false teachers is the same greek word as used in other verses about Christ having "bought" believers. So it's clear, His death purchased ALL men. BUT (big BUT) it only is applied to those who repent and believe the Gospel. This quote from puritan Baxter sums it up: http://www.thebereancall.org/content/think-not-say-it-was-only-his-elect

Thanks for posting Janet Mefferd's Anatomy of an Evangelical Scandal. So sad but true.

On "binding Satan"... good question to ask someone, if a Christian can bind Satan, who keeps setting him loose, because he's sure running around wreaking havoc?! (Same thought goes for those believers who erroneously think Satan is currently bound in the abyss as in Revelation 20).

Carolyn,

Notice I didn't say Willow Creek was heading into apostasy --- they've been doing that for decades. I said they are spirally fast to it!

As for our son, more difficult than you can ever imagine. He was well aware of the problems ahead but chose to think he could fix them. The legalism in that family remains strong and he's sucked into it.

Glenn, re: WC, I stand corrected! And I heartily concur.

So very sad to hear about your son's situation. Legalism is soul strangling. Praying the Lord leads them all out of that bondage.

The PCUSA has been apostate for literally decades. Carl McIntire wrote his book The Death of a Church (1967) about the PCUSA's Confession of 1967.

This is the denomination that defrocked J. Gresham Machen for defending the biblical position against the liberalism of the times. Francis Schaeffer, in his last book, The Great Evangelical Disaster (1984), said that the defrocking of J. Gresham Machen was the most sociologically significant event of the first half of the 20th century in America, because it signalled that the liberals had finally succeeded in taking over the churches; and that defrocking occurred in the mid-1930s. Mr. Schaeffer also said in that book that the Southern Baptist Confession was in the same shape now (1984, that is) that the mainline denominations were in in the 1920s and '30s; and we're now 31 years past 1984.

Jack,

Yep, from my very first post about the PCUSA six years ago http://watchmansbagpipes.blogspot.com/2009/05/presbyterian-church-usa-another.html I have been point out that they have been totally apostate for decades. There is absolutely no redeeming value in that body.

Interesting line-up on this post. Thank-you for addressing Paula White once again, for anything she does and says is not surprising to me any longer. Many of the women within the "god has told/shown me this or that mystical charismatic religion" said that Mr. White was a solid Bible teacher and I should listen/follow her. I was even plagued with having to listen to Paula White tapes while working at a business in the city. The owners belonged to a Toronto blessing type of charismatic Pentecostal type of church where teachings of White and other false teachers reigned supreme and unfortunately, having to listen to White CD's while working stifled my productivity. When false religion is forced upon us workers in the workplace, going to work is NOT A JOY.

Funny thing with these false charismatics...one thing I have noticed is that none of them speak of reading, studying and meditating upon God's Word, our Bibles,
at all, but will force feed heretics to us by the droves. What are these people afraid of, Jesus?
