We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good and Evil

First, the good stuff:

Sheol, Hades, and Gehenna: are there differences?

Solid teaching about the tithe. I’ve said too many times that Christians do NOT tithe. (The article also exposes Bill Johnson as a false teacher.)

The New Apostolic Reformation is an heretical teaching by false prophets and false apostles. Learn their language.

To Be or Not to Be Accountable.  False prophets need to be exposed, period.

Ah, now the bad and downright evil:

Proof that the Pope does not represent Christ or God. The man has gone full-blown LEFTIST.

The Roman Catholic Church is more and more supportive of sexual perverts and deviancy. Proof that they do not speak for God. They really need to start excommunicating these so-called “Catholics.”  Especially Jesuits who are supposedly more devout!

Catholics have historically voted Demokrat, for some absurd reason. Well, this is what you get when you vote Demokrat, whether Christian or Catholic.

The blatant lies and false teachings behind the fraudulent Bible translation known as “The Passion Translation.” The video is long and I had to go back to it several times to finish listening while doing other things. However, the information and exposure of the fraud is well worth the time.

Clint Adams has a review of one of Jen Wilkin’s books. Just another example of her poor teaching.

About that “transgender” ELCA “pastor.”  A very good examination.

I keep warning you about Tim Keller.

Another false teacher I hadn’t previously heard of — Jennie Allen.

Andy Stanley is a vicious wolf.

False teacher Joseph Prince.  Followed by, false teacher Priscilla Shirer. And let’s just remind everyone that T.D. Jakes is also a false teacher, as well as a racist.

Gwen Shamblin, of the cultic “Weigh Down Workshop” and “Remnant Fellowship” was killed in a plane crash.  Two articles worth perusing about her:  “Weighed Down With False Doctrine” and “Weigh Down Workshop a Cult?

CRU (i.e., Campus Crusade for Christ) is on a death spiral.

A great argument against women priests/pastors!

Stay away from World Vision.

One bit of Mormonism I hadn’t given much thought to is their belief that God ordained the Fall. Well, in this regard they are just like Calvinists; Calvinists say God has foreordained everything!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Global Leadership Summit 2016 is not for teaching men to be shepherds in an assembly, rather it is there to lead more into apostasy.  Continue reading more here.

Another false apostle and his nonsensical, unbiblical teachings to stay away from.

The false teaching coming out of SBC teachers is becoming the norm, unfortunately.

Interesting reviews of some popular church music.  I agree with what the author has said about all of them.  I think he is fair and objective.

As a follow-up to that one, here are some more interesting thoughts by the same author, responding to some charges against his reviews.  He also has some some explanations of popular charismatic false and occultic teachings which are practice by Bethel Redding.  I particularly liked this statement: If a doctrinally sound minister -- John Piper, let's say -- were to favorably quote Rob Bell, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Joseph Prince, or T.D. Jakes in his sermon just because one of those false teachers can manage a theologically salvageable thought every once in a while, Piper would not go unchallenged. But for whatever reason we don't hold worship leaders to the same standard. If Bill Johnson is a grave-sucking false teacher, why is Jeremy Riddle not?

A week later, we have another in this series of examining worship songs!  Another comment I whole-heartedly agree with (reference “My Chains Are Gone”):  Should the song be sung in your church?  Why should it not? So long as a church is not replacing the Newton classic. As great as Tomlin and Giglio's version is, there are two verses of the classic hymn that are not in My Chains Are Gone. Let them not be forgotten.  The problem is that it HAS replaced Newton’s song;  it has been a long, long time since I’ve heard Amazing Grace.

Robert Hotchkin, another false teacher with unbelievable ideas, and yet people listen to him!!!!

No one should ever send another dime to World VisionDoug Evans makes the succinct point:  Millions of dollars has been embezzled from the Christian charity World Vision and funneled into the terrorist organization Hamas. I know I've mentioned this before, but World Vision is standing by the terrorist in their midst. What part of Stewardship are they misunderstanding?

Cautions About Alan Hirsch.  WOW — this guy is bad news.

Jews have their own apostates and heretics.

“Jesus Calling” radio “worship” hour?

David Barton seems to think God is a patriotic American Christian who dictates who to vote for.  He needs to spend less time with NAR types and more time with Biblical Christians.

Use caution when using Bible Gateway.

You’ve got to be kidding—asking a statue to pray!?!?!

How Hillsong invades and takes over a church.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

I’ll start off today with a bit more about World Vision and their latest fiasco.  A good point made by Bryan Fischer is that World Vision needs to “clean house” [link gone by Sep 2020] of those who would even suggest sanctioning same-sex unions.  Meanwhile, Sola Sisters has an article about the philosophy in general at World Vision.  They also have a commentary about when the church at large will accept homosexuality.

Mormons.  I can never do enough to expose their false religious system for what it is: a system which leads people to hell rather than to eternal life.  Anyway, they claim to believe in the Bible, “as far as it is translated correctly.”  Of course this is a smokescreen, because their claims against it have been proven totally erroneous for decades, especially since discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which proved the accuracy of the transmission of the Old Testament.  Well, this is another one of those beliefs that they obfuscate about when asked.

For a bit more fun with Mormons, this will take 36 minutes of your time, but will give you a good insight as to how well the average Mormon don’t know their own belief system!

Hip and Thigh has the review of Michael Brown’s Authentic Fire, chapter 8.

Sola Sisters has updated their one-article clearing house of all the problems which make Mark Driscoll unqualified for the pastoral role.

More about Beth Moore.  She is now really aligning herself with more false teachers and heretics, as she joins them at Joel Osteen’s goat-pen.

Moore isn’t the only one buddying up with false teachers; James MacDonald is buddies with those on the heretical TBN TV.

Steven Furtick is daily getting more bizarre.  A true goatherd who seems to be more about worshiping himself than about pointing to God.

Oh, and did you know that wife battery and other anti-woman behavior is due to things like the Catholic ban on women priests?  Well, Jimmy Carter said it, so it must be true.  He’s a worse Christian than he was a president (don’t forget that he thinks homosexuality is okay).

An article about the need for sober leaders in the church comes from Elizabeth Prata.  See how many things above are examples of what she writes about.
