We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Demonic Mutilation

I have seen many young people with all sorts of body piercings and tattoos and always wonder what possesses them to do such things to their bodies. Piercings and tattoos are painful to get!

I understand piercing the ear lobes for post earrings, but how many holes does one ear need? I’ve even read and heard of piercings in the most intimate of places and can’t understand the reasons behind them unless they are from some evil suggestions.

A small tattoo here or there is bad enough (especially with women) but when tattoos cover huge areas of the body, I have to wonder how much pain was endured and for what purpose?

Aside from piercings and tattoos, there are the huge rings some put in their ears which make the person look absurd!

When I saw the photo above my first thought was “demon possession.”  I can think of no other reason or cause. Then I wondered how much demonic influence is leading our young people to mutilate the bodies that God has given them.

Leviticus 19:28 tells the Jews/Israelites to not do such things “for the dead,” which I always take to mean in honor of the dead in some fashion. So if one is not doing it “for the dead,” does that make it okay?  I would suggest the answer is, “no, it is not okay.”

Mutilation of one’s body, whether for the nonsensical and unscientific ideology of “trans” persons or for any other reason, has to be based on sinful desires to begin with.

The human body is the home of our spirit, and for Christians it is also the temple of the Holy Spirit.  Desecrating God’s temple is sin. Which is why Satan would probably like it when people do as the person in the photo has done.

Muslims vs Christians in Politics

From The August 2021 Berean Call newsletter. Educate yourself.

Freedom for all Muslim?

FrontPageMag.com, 5/18/21, “Biden: ‘We Will Speak Out for Religious Freedom for All [Muslim] People’”]: In a world where religious persecution runs rampant, President Joe Biden has come out and forcefully condemned it. On May 16, he issued a brief video from the White House. Standing by the first lady, he said: “This administration will speak out for religious freedom for all people, including Uighurs in China and Rohingya in Burma. We also believe Palestinians and Israelis equally deserve to live in safety and security and enjoy equal measures of freedom, prosperity, and democracy.  My administration is going to continue to engage Palestinians and Israelis and other regional partners to work toward sustained calm.”

Biden always emphasizes the word “all”—as in “All people should be able to practice their faith with dignity”;....“this administration will speak out for religious freedom for all people.”

And yet, as the speech develops...it becomes clear who these “all” are: Muslims. Indeed, to anyone listening to the president who doesn’t know any better, it would seem that Muslims are being persecuted by non-Muslims—Israelis, Burmese, and Chinese—in an unprecedented manner.  Once again, and as usual, the opposite is closer to reality.

A study published in January 2021 found, for example, that 13 Christians are killed for their faith every day around the world; 12 are illegally arrested or imprisoned; 5 are abducted, and 12 churches or other Christian buildings are attacked daily. Overall, 340 million Christians “suffer very high or extreme levels” of persecution—meaning they are harassed, beaten, raped, imprisoned, and/or slaughtered on sight.

The study also relayed another interesting fact: of the 50 worst persecuting nations, 39 were Muslim—meaning that nearly 80 percent of the persecution that hundreds of millions of Christians around the world experience is being committee by Muslims.

What’s the Difference Between Soul and Spirit?

I often have to explain to people the difference between the soul and the spirit. The August 2021 issue of The Berean Call gave this excellent teaching on the subject.

Question: Could you please explain to me whether the soul and spirit are the same? If they are, why does the Word make a distinction between the two?

Response: First Thessalonians 5:23 clearly states, “I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless…. How might one differentiate between the soul and spirit? Hebrews: 4:12 tells us that the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the “dividing asunder of soul and spirit. There is a distinction between soul and spirit and it takes an extremely sharp (i.e., supernatural) instrument to discern it. Consequently, any attempt at human definition must fall short. The soul is said to include the mind, the will, and the emotions. Jesus, in His humanity, said that His soul was exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death…(Matthew 26:38, see also Job:10:1, Psalm:119:28, Zechariah: 11:8).

Some might point out that Jesus was also troubled in His spirit:When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you that one of you shall betray me(John:13:21). It is clear that the spirit addresses issues beyond the mind, the will, and the emotions.

When He was dying on the Cross, Jesus committed His “spirit” into His Father’s hands (Luke:23:46).  As for the human spirit, we know that at death it returns to the Lord who gave it (Ecclesiastes: 12:7; 2 Corinthians: 5:8: Philippians: 1:23). It was “souls” that stood before God.And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God(Revelation:20:4). Although Scripture gives us no exact definitions of soul and spirit, from the verses quoted and many others, we are assured that they are different parts of the makeup of humans.

Blog Ministry Winding Down

My life has become so complicated in recent months that I have found it difficult to get time to write articles which need much research, let alone posting the “Agglomeration” type articles. We seem to be away from home 3-4 days a week whether for only a couple hours or the whole day (which leads to a lot of eating out!!!).

What I want to do is have more time to focus on my “Anti-Mormon Blog,” since reaching Mormons with the truth was my introduction to apologetics back in 1974. I also want to keep my email ministry active where I receive many communications seeking information reference false teachers and cults as well as carrying on lengthy conversations with various cult members. I will also continue teaching classes about discernment in general and cults, etc, specifically (I have an upcoming class to teach about Mormons in adult Sunday school). So I am NOT stopping my ministry, just winding down the blog.

Since all my “Agglomeration” type posts are continual exposure of those false teachers and cults which are always in some sort of news for their latest antics, I am going to discontinue these — after all, you can end up beating a dead horse into the ground!

One person I would like to have time to really do a big report on is Timothy Keller; I’ve collected dozens of links to articles about his apostasy and false teachings but I’ve decided I just don’t have the time/desire any more. If anyone is interested in writing an article about him, I’ll be happy to send what I have and will even be happy to post the finished product on this blog!

Of course whenever I come across come good quotations I feel need to be shared, you will be seeing them. And as I have often done, if I come across a hymn which strikes me as something to share, that will also be posted.

I will still write smaller articles, or even bigger ones about topics I feel are important to share, but it won’t be often.

Lastly, for now anyway, I still have ten copies of the Personal Freedom Outreach Quarterly Journal which has the article I wrote about Hillsong. I can tell you that was a whole lot of work!  I’ll send them out to anyone requesting them until I run out.

Are You a Parade Ground Christian?

A lot of Christians I know are parade-ground soldiers in the army of Christ. They need and enjoy a lot of comfort and security in life.

But the battles for life are fought in the Devil's territory beyond the security of our foxholes. And those who would walk with Christ must share His concern for the lost and dying people who cannot help themselves.

When we are called to pass in review, what will our service record look like?
