We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Hodge-Podge

I’ve come across many several articles lately which I feel need to be shared.

First, I’ll give you an article which has some good teaching about divorce and which I agree with.

The remaining links are to articles exposing the bad stuff invading the body of Christ and which you need to avoid!

Hillsong can’t seem to stay out of the limelight. Now they are being sued for failure to pay their bills.

Another reason to really hate Hillsong leadership. But don’t forget the false teachers who want spiritual unity with Muslims!

Stay away from any assembly which is a part of the Association of Related Churches (ARC); false teachings are part of their warp and weave.

Never, NEVER buy or read the heretical Passion Translation of the Bible.

Well, well; another false “pastor” is leaving the Southern Baptist Convention.

Bethel just gets worse by the day. This makes me want to puke. It is not from God.

More about those apologetic false prophets. But hey, Michael Brown, false teacher that he is, defends false prophets!

Beth Moore gets worse by the day.  Elizabeth Prata has a good back-story on Beth.

Real Christianity is being hijacked by pretenders.

Lisa Bevere is a teacher to really, really avoid.

Ends and ODDS!

Let’s start this post with an article from Answers In Genesis.  A Cultural and Spiritual Crisis Based on Fake Science!

The Roman Catholic Church is really showing its true colors lately.  First, we have the Pope promoting legalized same-sex unions, i.e. “marriage.” Then he goes and appoints pro-LGBT men to the College of Cardinals. The Cripplegate says we shouldn’t be surprised.

With the current culture and election fever we need to understand “Dogma Fights.”

Of course sometimes “dogma fights” lead to changing God’s Word to suit personal ideologies. And other times they lead to really silly arguments.

Now I need to alert you to what’s going on with some false teachers:

Todd Smith. I never heard of this guy before, but he is sly but dangerous.

Another I’ve not heard of is Sean Feucht. He’s connected with the blasphemous and apostate Bethel Redding goat-pen.

Greg Laurie likes the endorsement of false teachers.

John Piper continues his descent into support of the LEFT. Gary DeMar has a rebuttal for Piper.

Beth Moore.  This lady just keeps getting worse. Elizabeth Prata believes Beth is demon-possessed. I’m not sure I can go that far, but Moore is certainly demonically influenced.

Be DISCERNING, people!

Agglomeration

The Good - For Education and/or Edification

The Source of Adventism’s  Physical God.  Reminds one of Mormonism.

Why the Gospel of Thomas is not in the Bible.

Although somewhat lengthy for those who don’t like to read much, Gary Gilley has written an excellent article about the state of the Church and how we got here.

Some interesting history, if you take the time to read it all.

Are there really “ten lost tribes” of Israel?

What are demons? A thought-provoking follow-up on the article “Angels Unawares” which I linked to on August 29th.

HMMMM

Good summation of the teachings of Ravi Zacharias. He’s not really a wolf, but there are some questionable things about his teachings.

Bible Study Fellowship now using “vision casting

Wolves and False Teachings
The Gospel Coalition is about a false gospel.

Another reason why Campus Crusade for Christ, a.k.a. CRU, needs to be avoided: they are promoting the occultic false teaching of Enneagram.  The Enneagram has absolutely NO Christian origins. And if that isn’t enough reason to disassociate with CRU, perhaps this isOr thisOr even this!

Rick Joyner: Not only is he  false teacher deluxe, but he is also grossly ignorant of history when it comes to his “vision.”

Just when you thought Bill Johnson couldn’t get any more ridiculous.

This man’s total lack of discernment proves he should not be a pastor. It looks like he’s been “off base” for a very long time, and yet he’s accepted as a Southern Baptist Pastor?!?

Net Church, led by a wolf who does interviews at his “church.” It appears that this takes place before whatever “worship” services they have. This article is focused on his interview of lesbians—who certainly are NOT Christians (at about 28 minute mark), but I thought his blather about a horrid child’s book demonstrated what sort of “pastor” he is. The couple he first interviewed talked about how THEY pastored a church — yes, a woman “pastor.”  They seemed to think heretic Rob Bell is great, but they also have no clue about what a church is for and totally misrepresent Scripture. The whole video (if you have time to spend listening while doing something else) goes to show what sort of wolves pass for “pastors” and what passes for “churches” today. Beware!

The United Methodist Church continues to demonstrate their apostasy and rebellion against God.

A Bible version I just learned about, and it is one to be avoided: One New Man Bible.  Part of the charismatic, Hebrew Roots Movement nonsense.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Although we are in sort of a drought, with virtually no rain for over a month (all the grass is turning brown, etc), it’s giving me time to work on fixing our deck, fixing our picket fence, digging out lilies (they’ve spread too much), etc.  On top of the yard work I’ve had a lot of piping gigs (including band gigs) keeping me busy so I’m not getting much of a chance to write articles.  Nevertheless, I’m still trying to keep up with apologetic news so I can alert my readers to some good articles as well as alert them to more about false teachings — and about the horrid stuff to beware of!

The Good:
Interesting article about how sexual immorality is turning people away from the Church — not because the Church rejects them, but because they KNOW what they are doing is wrong.

A good examination of the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation.

Excellent listing of the false teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Some excellent charts to help you decide what translation of the Bible you’d prefer.

Modern gnosticism invading the church.

The Bad:
Michael Brown exposed for his lies, as well as proof that his audience is gullible.

Jory Micah, solidly shown to be a heretic.

The questionable John Maxwell.

I get amused when Calvinists attack another respected staunch Calvinist.  They are correct about Piper’s bad stuff, though.

The Ugly:
Hillsong Leaders suffering from pride or narcissism? Part 1: Christine Caine.

The wolves continue to fleece the sheep.

The Pope is a LEFTIST hack.  He has decided to be against abortion we must also be for allowing illegal immigrants to invade our country.  Then on top of that he has decided that if you deny their is a connection between the recent hurricanes and “global warming” are denying science.  Okay, what about the scientist who claims “climate change” has nothing to do with the hurricanes, let alone the tons of research proving that “climate change” (aka global warming) is nothing but a fraud, and an agenda for more government control?  The Pope pretends to be an authority appointed by God but his LEFTIST ideology is as false as his theology!

The Message” translation is a herephrase.  I like the term.  The Message is a “mess,” as I have previously noted.

But quietly, there are the thousands of faithful Christians who practice polyamory—living lives of giftedness, dignity, and worth, but receiving next-to-no spiritual support.
Um, how can they call themselves “Christian” when they violate Christ’s teachings about marriage?  This article comes from a supposed Christian site, but their “Christianity” is all of the liberal variety, which is not Christian at all.

Delusion on Parade:  Word of Faith “Weather Warriors”

Hillsong and “theoerosism.”  Makes ya wanna puke!

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
Captivated Through Philosophy and Empty Deceit.  Excellent review of popular false teachings from popular false teachers.

Chuck Missler, as well as many others, claim that there are secret messages in the Bible which can be found by discovering “codes.”  Here’s a good article examining Missler’s nonsensical “discovery.”

Steven Furtick’s church now has a water-slide baptismal — it must be true, because I saw it on the Internet.

The Bad:
New Calvinism is worse than the old Calvinism! Tim Keller is representative of their apostasy.

Michael Brown continues to prove he is a false teacher.  Scripture says NOTHING about any time one shouldn’t be exposing false teachers.

Beth Moore is again exposed as a teacher to really, really avoid.

Leonard Sweet — another one of those “only love matters” false teachers.

Roman Catholic superstition never ceases to surprise me. And they claim this stuff is “Christian”!!

The Ugly:
I guess Clayton Jennings thinks tooting your own horn while doing good works makes up for his abuse of women. Moody Radio interviewed this horrible example of a believer, but to their credit, they apologized when they were told what a predator he is.

Bethel Church’s Bill Johnson’s SOZO “ministry” is very, very dangerous.

Bethel Redding and SOZO.  Long video, but very informative about such horrendous false teachings.

Bethel, Hillsong, and associated false teachers are going to “bring Heaven to Earth.”  Just  look at the names of the participants to know who to avoid.

What About the Apocrypha?

I have often been told (including very recently in the comment section of an article I wrote) that the Protestants “removed” the Apocrypha from the Bible; the claim being that the Apocrypha was part of Christian canon from the beginning.  However, when one reads a wee bit of history they will find the early church did not consider this material to be canon.  Even the Catholics didn’t canonize the Apocrypha until the Council of Trent in 1546, mainly in opposition to the Protestant movement, so as to provide support for some of their man-made doctrines.

John Bois, who was one of the New Testament translators of the KJV, was also part of the group which translated the Apocrypha.  He wrote the following:

The reasons assigned for not admitting the Apocryphal books into the canon, or list of inspired Scriptures are briefly the following:

1.  Not one of them is in the Hebrew language, which was alone used by the inspired historians and poets of the Old Testament.

2.  Not one of the writers lays any claim to inspiration.

3.  These books were never acknowledged as sacred Scriptures by the Jewish Church, and therefore were never sanctioned by our Lord.

4.  They were not allowed a place among the sacred books during the first four centuries of the Christian Church.

5. They contain fabulous statements [in the sense of being fables] and statements which contradict not ply the canonical Scripture but themselves; as when in the two books of Maccabees Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die three different deaths in as many different places.

6. It inculcates doctrines at variance with the Bible such as prayers for the dead and sinless perfection.

7.  It teaches immoral practices, such as lying, suicide, assassination and magical incantations.

For these and other reasons, the Apocryphal books which are all in Greek, except one which is extant only in Latin, are valuable only as ancient documents, illustrative of the manners, language, opinions and history of he East.

So don’t let the Roman Catholics intimidate you into thinking we don’t have important Scripture in our Bibles; what we have is all the the original Church considered Canon.

Random Things Needing Discernment

Can you imagine Paul telling Christians to visit pagan temples and hear pagan teachings and worship so as to understand them?!?!?

Doug Evans has a good article about Montanism — which is a heresy revamped by NAR/Word Of Faith adherents.

Jerry Falwell, Jr. is one name I’ve not previously mentioned on this blog so it’s about time I did, considering his latest actions. I guess since heretic Paula White was praying at the Presidential Inaugural, perhaps Falwell wanted on the popularity wagon?  Falwell said this “pastrix” “exemplified what being a Christian woman is about.”  (SHUDDERS!)
And Falwell considers those who expose heretics such as White to be “Pharisees.”  I guess he doesn’t know what a real Pharisee is.

This has to be true because I saw it on the Internet.

The continuing important saga of Clayton Jennings.

Divinity schools are selling out God to satisfy man’s culture.

Elevation Church, the cult of Steven Furtick gets worse daily.

Beware of a new “Christian” book by Bethel Church “senior associate leader” Kris Vallotton.  Pure heresy.  (That Mark Batterson endorses it says lot about him!)

A reminder about avoiding the cultic “Passion Translation” of the Bible — it’s no better than the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ “New World Translation” because it is a translation made to support false teachings.

Another false prophet I’ve not previously heard of, Lance Wallnau; pay attention to how he comes up with his false prophecies (no, it’s not satire, regardless of how it sounds).

I’ve stated before that Michael Brown is lacking any real discernment when it comes to false teachers — he promotes way too many of them.  Now he’s promoting Word of Faith heretic Joseph Prince.  Brown is not to be trusted for any teachings about theology.

Discernment alert — this looks like a heresy fest!

Assertions and Assumptions are NOT the Foundation of the Church.  Be careful about accepting any of them.
