We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

The Southern Baptist Convention certainly no longer represents Biblical Christianity.  Look at this post also.

I mean, just what is it with SBC “pastors?!?!  Or the SBC in general?

I don’t know about you, but I consider this to be apostasy.  Especially since SBC President Steve Gaines sanctions the Seventh-Day Adventist cult!  But then you have to remember that this guy twists Scripture like Benny Hinn, claiming that Christians are obligated to tithe or suffer the consequences.

C.Peter Wagner desperately holds on to his “7 Mountain Mandate” for the NAR.

Jen Hatmaker continues to prove what a horrid false teacher she is; she panders to liberal claims and causes.

Theonomists/Restorationists have really gone out of their way time to misrepresent Biblical teachings.  Gee, what’s new for this ilk?

WOW - another false prophetess—Vonda Brewer.  What is wrong with people who refuse to use their brain while they follow this tripe!!!

The POPE has decreed that most marriages are “religiously null.”  Hmm.  I’d say he’s in disagreement with God.  Of course being in disagreement with God is normal for Popes.

Christian “gag rags” — I heartily agree.

The “Serpent Seed of Satan” is one of the worst teachings to come down the pike, and it has been spread for a long time.

The Christian Missionary Alliance has a false teacher coddling to Islam.  Can you just see Paul telling the Romans to be sure to give the pagans a “beautiful evening” while hosting their dinner celebrating the worship of their own gods just to “build bridges”? I can’t.

I covered the issue of this Bible in a previous “RAAH” post a while back.  However, I think this article will remind people of just how cultic the NAR is.

Beth Moore complains about being exposed as a false teacher.  Hey Beth — if it is true, it isn’t “slander.”

Charismatic Bullying From the Pulpit.  I’ve been on the receiving end of this stuff.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

When it comes to false teachings, it seems to be worse and worse as the weeks roll by.

Andy Stanley continues with his false teachings.  He is so arrogant!  As if kids can’t meet friends in smaller churches?!?!  And he thinks middle-school and high-school kids should be separated just like in the public schools so they will be peer oriented.  His church teaches kids to hate church!  Andy later issued a weak apology, but that doesn’t really cut it, as Tom Buck at Entreating Favor explains.  Pulpit and Pen also has an open letter to Stanley.

Another UMC heretic.  Once you allow a woman to be pastor, this comes as part of the package.
Excellent article exposing “Christian” psychology.

I guess anyone can be a “pastor” nowadays.

Some good information about heretic Christine Caine.

Christians should NOT take “personality tests.”  They are nothing but pure psychobabble. (“Spiritual gifts” tests are just Christianized personality tests.) HT to Marsha West

Chuck Pierce is another one those false teachers claiming to speak for God, and he has way too many gullible followers.

A reader asked me what I knew about Canon Andrew White, and I’d never heard of him.  He sent me this link, which I think sums up pretty good that White is someone to be very wary of.

Asleep No More seems to be THE place lately to learn about Dominionism.  In this latest article Doug even includes several links to older articles dealing with the subject.

Red Letter Christians are just another group of heretics using bad hermeneutics to support their unbiblical and dangerous social gospel ideologies.  And Tony Campolo is one of their leaders.

As we approach Easter, there might be theater re-runs of Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ.”  Or perhaps churches will have a movie night for it.  Certainly the DVD version will be prominently displayed in the stores.  DON’T buy it.  DON’T waste your time with it.  It is a horrid mix or Roman Catholicism, mysticism and unbiblical nonsense.  Gary Gilley’s old two-part review might be worth your while.  Part 1 here, part 2 here.

A testimony of a nun who became a Christian left the Catholic Church.  HT to Mary Dalke.

Don’t let anyone kid you — the Seventh-Day Adventist religion is a cultHere is some information about their “Bible.”

Beth Moore is what ails us.

How many commands do you think are violated in this “church”?

Frequently abused Bible verses.  I’ve addressed a couple of these on this blog.

More about the movie, “Young Messiah.”  WOW, this movie is straight from hell.

Some humor to end with.  Ah, if only pastors would get arrested FOR using Hillsong stuff!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

So much to report today, for warning people against false teachings and false teachers.  It is surely getting closer to Jesus’ return when we are seeing all the evidence of people refusing to listen to sound doctrine as they chase every wind and fad of false doctrine which makes them feel good.

First up, Bill Gothard has NEVER accepted accountability for any of his actions, be it false teachings or sexual harassment/abuse of young women in his ministry.  Now his lawyers are threatening lawsuit against Recovering Grace Ministries for posting testimonies of his abuse. The man has absolutely NO shame!

First Heavy Metal Church of Christ.  WOW!  In Dayton, OH.  This is what the market-driven/seeker-sensitive/emergent “church” has come to.  Another “church” which doesn’t understand what church is for.  (I listened to one sermon, and it was ridiculous about what God supposedly put on his heart, and other charismatic claims, in addition to claiming people are “saved” at this church every week.)

Marsha West has posted part 2 of her examination of false spiritual warfare, naming names of important false teachers in this movement, most of whom are part of the New Apostolic Reformation.

An older series from Gary Gilley is about entertainment in the church.  Read part 1, part 2, and part 3.

Gilley also has an older two part review of Rick Warren’s “The Purpose-Driven Life.”  Part 1 is here and part 2 is here.

A good review on the new movie, “Risen.”

A “Christian” rapper thinks it is just fine to use foul language.  I’ve previously written about why using profanity is wrong.

Steve Chalke proves what a false teaching heretic he is.

Andy Stanley thinks a pastor should be more like a CEO; his description is very narcissistic.  This article also examines the multi-site “church” ideology in general, and some information about false teacher Steven Furtick.

Due to complaints I’ve received for saying John MacArthur is a good teacher (as long as you ignore his TULIPs), I have links about teachings which people question.
Did he teach that Jesus only became God’s son at incarnation?  Did he teach that one could take the mark of the beast and be saved?  Is his teaching about the blood of Christ the same as Christian Science?
Answer to the first question is “yes” but he has since recanted and changed his teachings.  The answer to the second is “yes” but there is a context to it which the attackers ignore.  The answer to the third question is an unequivocal “NO”!  Once again the claims against him are out of context; MacArthur’s point is that the blood in and of itself has no salvific value - Jesus’ blood could have been all over the place but if he didn’t die for our sins, then the blood would have accomplished nothing.

Interesting old video I came across, exposing what a false teaching heretic Joel Osteen is.

Richard Mouw’s beliefs about Islam are dangerous, demonstrating once again what a false teacher he is.

Greg Laurie is another once-good teacher slowing sliding down the slippery slope of compromise for popularity.

WOW!  What a horrid gathering of Christians, apostates, and heretics.

More on Francis Chan’s adoration of false teacher Mike Bickle and his support of Catholicism.

Doug Evans has a really good examination of Dominionism.

The false prophecies of the late Bob Jones. I never heard so many lies in such a short video.

If only more Christians would read their Bibles we’d have a lot fewer false teachers.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

The results of the leftist/liberal/apostate teaching from so-called Christians has led to demanding acceptance for homosexuals and other sexual deviants.  Matt Walsh does an excellent job of responding to such ideology.

Real love includes hate for sin and evil.

While I disagree with Rome as to their handling of divorce and remarriage, the idea that homosexual couples should ever be allowed communion is totally unbiblical.  Yet this archbishop thinks it is just a matter of conscience for homosexual couples to decide for themselves.  So why isn’t this guy defrocked?

Did you know you may be attacked by witchcraft at any moment?  This is an example of the totally unbiblical nature of charismania.  They just make this stuff up, and it puts people under such burdens of fear and paranoia that they can never just live a joyful life in Christ.

Another example of unbiblical ideology of charismatics.  These people are an embarrassment to the Church; rank arrogance! And her “tongues” are hysterical, with great response by the guy.

Often when I mention teachings by John MacArthur, I get the inevitable claim that MacArthur’s “Lordship Salvation” teaching is nothing less than the heresy of “works salvation.”  I’ve countered this many times in comments and emails, and what I find ironic is that it usually comes from KJV Onlyers or “Free Grace” heretics (yes, it’s heresy if you believe you have no lifestyle change after becoming a believer).  Well, I’m cleaning out some old files and I came across an article by Gary Gilley which explains the issue quite well.

Mary Dalke has quite a bit of information about the Parliament Of The World’s Religions.  Don & Joy Veinot, of Midwest Christian Outreach, also discussed their trip to the “Parliament,” as they explain the “mom doctrine,” which keeps people in false teachings.

For those unfamiliar with the false teachings of “Dominion Theology,” Gary Gilley has an excellent summation.

Finally, an article from The Crux, The E-Newsletter of Midwest Christian Outreach, Inc, 10/22/15, demonstrating another reason why John Hagee cannot be trusted for anything:

Over the last several years John Hagee has been telling the following story about an incident that occurred at Trinity Assembly Church in San Antonio, TX, in 1971 when he was pastoring:

"There was a man who walked into my church during a Bible study. It was on a Wednesday night, and he came in. He was carrying a loaded six-shooter, and he walked to the front of the church and he roared like a wild animal and said, 'I've come to shoot you to prove that Satan has more power than Jesus Christ.' And I held up my Bible and said that this book says that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. And he became infuriated and said, 'I'm going to kill you on the count of three. Get on your knees and beg for your life.' I said, I will not because the Lord is my protector. And he said, 'I'm going to shoot you on the count of three.' He lied. He started shooting on the count of two. And he emptied the gun at me from a distance of eight to ten feet, and by the grace and mercy of God missed every shot. He ran out of the building, he was knocked down, apprehended, sent a few days later to the asylum for the criminally insane. Ninety days later a team of psychiatrists pronounced him ready to take his place in society and he went home and immediately climbed the highest tree in his backyard and hung himself,"

It is an interesting and for some a spellbinding story but, as is often the case with Hagee, only very loosely resembling the actual facts. The September 23, 1971 San Antonio Express there was a shooting but it was not at Hagee or about his teaching on demons. It was a gun fight between 2 cousins. According to the Express, one man entered the church and at gun point made forced his cousin to mount the podium and kneel to beg for mercy. Hagee did attempt to calm the situation as the gunman began counting and then fired his pistol his cousin pulled out his pistol and fired back. One of them was wounded in the cheek the other was unharmed even though 7 shots had been fired at him, but not at Hagee.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

THIS POST IS ACTUALLY DATED OCTOBER 8, 2015, BUT AN ERROR IN THE DRAFT THE NIGHT BEFORE KEPT THAT DATE WHEN POSTING.

Narcissism in the world—AND the Church.

More verses examined in the series of abused Bible verses:

Examining “binding and loosing” — not what charismatics claim.

Justin Bieber claims to be a Christian, so the news reports, but what about his fruit?  And is he a legitimate spokesman for Jesus?  Considering he spends time at Hillsong, New York, and calls goatherd Carl Lenz a mentor, that should say something about Bieber’s theology.

A bonafide heretic claims people like me—gun owners—are heretics.  Simply bizarre.

Oh my!  A conference for Dominionists to save the world and bring back Christ!  A virtual who’s who of false teachers.

How the “church” of Sweden can still call themselves “Christian” is beyond my comprehension.

False teacher Paula White declares speaking against Donald Trump will bring condemnation from God!

Elizabeth Prata examines some Beth Moore claims from her new book, “Audacious.”

As my regular readers know, I’ve written much about “worship music” in church and how problematic it can be.  This article pretty much sums up some of the problems I’ve raised.

I like his “six bugbears” of “contemporary worship music.”

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

While cleaning out some files this week I came across an article I printed out six years ago.  The article is about the origin of the Catholic Mass, and it is well worth reviewing by every Christian so as to understand how such an heretical practice came into being.  Thanks to Marie Notcheva for posting it.

Examining another abused passage, Jeremiah 29:11.  I’ve previously addressed this one and how people apply it to persons instead of Israel, but this author has good questions as to why following passages aren’t applied to individuals.

Grace To You examined a few other abused passages this week:
Romans 8:28. If anyone can abuse a Bible passage, it’s Joel Osteen.
Matthew 18:18-20  A Word of Faith favorite.

Pope Francis calls Muslims hisbrothers and sisters” and says he unites himself with them “in prayer to Almighty God, all merciful.”  Since Muslims worship a false god, and they are not “brothers and sisters” in Christ, if nothing else proves the pope to be a false teacher, this statement of his sure does!

Speaking of the Pope; his visit to the USA was all about his support for left-wing politics and not once did he even mention the name of Jesus.  And yet he claims to represent Christ on earth?!?

Lindsay has an excellent summary of the teachings of Dominionism, including similar teachings under other nomenclatures such as “Kingdom Now,” and “Reconstructionism.”

ARGH!!! Another “Jesus” movie!  I disagree with the reviewer when he says “it is not heretical or blasphemous for a film to portray Jesus growing and increasing in wisdom.”  They are making a Jesus of their own image, which is idolatry at the very least.

Continuing the review of Which Bible Would Jesus Use?

HT to Mary Dalke for alerting us to an upcoming event at IHOP, with all their false prophets and heretics seeking to suck in more young people into their cult.  BEWARE!

More disappointment from David Jeremiah — teaming up with Word of Faith heretics to bless Donald Trump.

Lastly, I just had to post these cartoons about the Pope.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Well, it’s been almost a week since my last post.  We were 500 miles away from home due to the death of my father-in-law.  Getting caught up now is going to take me a while!  I figured I may as well start out with a “Random” post based on links I’ve collect the past couple weeks.

Oh joy!  Roma Downey has a new TV show.  Downey, a New Ager/Roman Catholic, will be highlighting false teachers — as standards of truth!!!!

Erin Benziger gives a perfect example as to why I rarely step into a “Christian” bookstore.  They are minefields of aberrant theology, apostasy, heresy, and even outright blasphemy — let alone idol worship!

Freemasons have claimed that Jesus was married and had children, the Mormons have claimed that Jesus was married and had children, the “Da Vinci Code” made similar claims.  And if that wasn’t enough people lying, you can buy a new book with the same story!  And of course they all say the the wife was Mary Magdalene.  Someone really needs to get a new lie.

While this article may be a bit humorous, there is much truth in it.  The way so many in our culture see Jesus has no resemblance to the Jesus of the Bible.

Many people claim to have come to Christ due to Billy Graham and his crusades.  However, as I have previously pointed out, Billy Graham is not really a good teacher!  He may be used by God to reach people, because God can use many things to reach people, but he still has some really rotten teachings and theology. After all, many of those attending his crusades are sent to Roman Catholic churches for further spiritual guidance, and he teaches a form of universalism.  Additionally, Graham has very often sanctioned false teachers, and his political affiliation is the Democratic party!  I could give a whole lot more reasons why Billy Graham should not be followed or recommended, but I’ll leave that to this article by Elizabeth Prata.

Sola Sisters has a great article about Reconstructionism (and Dominionism), of which I have many times stated is a legalistic and aberrant theological system.

Neil has a good examination of one of the prayers to “Mary” used by the Pope.  As Neil notes, this prayer gives Mary the attributes of the Holy Spirit.

If you want to know who to watch out for in regards to bringing the “new spirituality” into the church (stuff like lectio divina, labyrinths, contemplative prayer, Spiritual formation, etc), Lighthouse Trails Research Ministry has a listing of them.

Lastly, Lighthouse Trails also has a report about the damage control at Thomas Nelson in regards to Sarah Young’s book, “Jesus Calling.”  Thomas Nelson apparently only cares about false teachings when an uproar is made, since they still publish Benny Hinn.
