We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

WOW! — the time has sneaked up on me and I’ve gathered way too many items to report on.  So buckle up, you’re in for another nightmare ride through things you need to be alerted about avoiding!

I agree — “worship” leaders need to quit saying these juvenile phrases.

What is the Church coming to when they use the teachings of a media celebrity over the teachings of the Bible in their sermons?!?  I’d say The Gathering isn’t a Christian sheep-fold but a non-Christian goat-pen.

Here’s some shocking things from the SBC conference, but not-so-shocking from Andy Stanley.

Oh, Andy Stanley, you really need to give up your job and quit leading people astray with your lies!

This is normal for ELCA liberal Lutheranism — denying the facts of the Bible is how they have totally apostatized.

When you hear from “God,” be sure to check with Scripture.  This article shows the horrors of false NAR claims — a “god” of their own making.

Some revealing information about the “Passion Translation” of the Bible, the one promoted by the NAR.  The translator got direct revelation from God!

What has this to got to do with the REAL Church of Christ? False teachers and an event that looks exactly like a secular rock concert.

Here’s an interesting site which examines things even I’ve never heard about. There sure are a lot of false teachings out there!!!!

What about those who claim to have seen God?  Of course they are liars.

Liberal churches promoting “social justice” and “multiculturalism” are NOT preaching Christ.

Gary Gilley has a good 2-part teaching of “The Social Gospel, Yesterday and Today.”  See part 1 here and part 2 here.

The world of false prophets never ends.  Every one of them claims to have a word from God.

Texas Christian University has proven they are apostate by assisting abortionists.  Of course when you are associated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) you can pretty much expect this sort of thing (see previous reports about DoC in my “RAAH” posts).

Why in the world would Greg Laurie be promoting false believer and defender of Roman Catholicism Mel Gibson at a “crusade”?!?!?  Gibson has done nothing for the Christian faith, so why make him the “star of the show”?

Roman Catholics continue in their apostasy — now they’ve hired a Hindu priest for a college chaplain!!!

Now we can look forward to another “heresy parade” at Steven Furtick’s goat-pen!

Speaking of Furtick’s goat-pen:  I reported in an “RAAH” post a year ago about a woman false teacher with his ministry, Lysa TerKeurst.  Well, now here’s some more information about her and why she and her teachings are to be avoided.

Unfasten your belt now and stagger back to earth in your shock and dismay.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It often really gets disheartening to see all the false teachings followed by Christians who refuse to use discernment!  Yet here we go with another episode exposing the WOLVES -- false teachers and groups who are leading so many to spiritual dangers.

My first example is Jen Hatmaker, who is just as dangerous as Beth Moore.  Avoid her like the plague.

A follow-up on Ronnie Floyd’s IHOP visit.  HT to Marsha

Examining Tommy Tenney’s book, The God Chasers.

Why do the leadership of the United Methodist Church even allow these people to remain as members?  If they are sanctioning homosexuality, excommunicate them.  Period.  This has been a growing apostasy in the UMC and they don’t do a thing to stop it because the are more interested in preaching the false social gospel!

One of the heresies of the United Church of Christ Satan:

Are other religious writings of from God?  NO!

Who are the children of God?  Not everyone, as the liberal theologians and other religions claim.

Jim Bakker is still a false teacher.  Too bad he wasn’t kept in prison.

More on David Barton, who is a favorite with many homeschoolers.  He is NOT to be trusted for historical information, and now he even has own show on the heretical Trinity Broadcasting Network.  The fact that Barton thinks Mormon Glenn Beck is a Christian says a lot about Barton’s ignorance of history.  Even worse is his praying an anointing over Beck!  So, along with not being able to trusted with things historical, he also can’t be trusted with things spiritual.

Systematic Deception: Speaking in Tongues.  Long article, but worthwhile.

This is what passes for “tongues and other manifestations of the Holy Spirit in so much of the charismatic world.  I’d say these are actually manifestations of demonic spirits.

Along this line, Gary Gilley has a good examination of the Word of Faith cult.

Doug Evans has a short examination of the Disciples of Christ denomination as he exposes “The Christian Left.”  The “C Left” say they agree with DoC theology, which is liberal enough for them as they try in vain to maintain their claim to real Christianity.

“Pray for ‘traveling mercies’” is a request which has always driven me crazy.  What does it mean?!?!  What is a “traveling mercy”?!?  Please, Christians, quit using this fad phrase.

I’ve been warning about false teacher Jonathan Cahn for quite some time.  He just gets worse.

While cleaning out some files I came across this excellent critique of Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Life.

Another reason to avoid Francis Chan’s teachings — he has no discernment.

Charisma magazine has long been known for promoting false teachings of every kind.  Now they think Jesus wants to give you golden tickets.

False teachers don’t know what real “church” is for.  This is a perfect example of the demonic ideas false teachers come up with.  I have to really wonder what sort of “pastor” she was married to.

Lastly for today, Liberty University really should confess that they couldn’t care less about the true Christian faith.  They were upset about the professor’s statements about Christianity and Islam worshipping the same God, but they are excited about continually bringing in false teachers [link gone by 7/16/18] of every ilk!  HT to Marsha.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It is really impossible to keep up with so many false teachers and false teachings in the Church, so warning people about these things gets more and more difficult.  We really need lots of sheepdogs in the Church — the wolves are massing!

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard that Benny Hinn was hospitalized for some sort of heart trouble.  I guess he just doesn’t have enough faith in his own false teaching or else he wouldn’t be having health issues!  Um, hasn’t he said that it isn’t God’s will for people to be sick?  The man is a tool of satan.

“Speaking” of heretics, here is another article about Creflo Dollar and his desire to buy a $65 million jet.

Then we have the Disciples of Christ denomination joining in with the hysteria over Indiana’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act (soon to be “fixed” to become the “Religious Freedom Destruction Act”); they are threatening to move their 2017 General Assembly out of Indiana.  I guess giving Christians (and others) the right to refuse to provide services for objectionable activities is just not Christ-like in their minds.  Of course that means they are worshiping a different Christ than the one of the Bible.

False teacher and heretic John Hagee is prophesying the end of the world this year, because, after all, the “blood moons” are a portent of horrible things.

I’ve mentioned problems with David Jeremiah in the past, but this man is really, really getting more and more apostate.  I wouldn’t go as far as Elizabeth in calling him a non-Christian, but I will say he is never to be trusted again.

Then there is another Word of Faith charismatic — Chuck Pierce.  This man actually thinks Glenn Beck is a “son in the Lord.”  Beck is a Mormon, and the god they worship is not the God of the Bible, so how can he be a “son in the Lord”?!?  Pierce thinks Beck has some sort of “mantle” from God to “change this nation.

A brother Christian who reads this blog brought to my attention a “new” Bible version I hadn’t heard of yet: “A New New Testament.”  I took a look at what Amazon had to say about itand learned it a very spiritually-dangerous creation of very liberal “theologians.”  Avoid it like deadly poison it is.

A few years back someone e-mailed me for information about the program, “Walk to Emmaus.”  I found that it is based on a Roman Catholic movement and was not something Christians should be involved with.  At that time I didn’t think about writing about it, and I wasn’t doing “Random” posts yet.  NOW, I’m alerting my readers to the spiritual danger of this program by directing you to this article at Lighthouse Trails Research Project blog.

Of course there are some Christian leaders who have no problem whatsoever with Roman Catholicism, and get angry at people who point out their error!  A perfect example is the director of the Manhattan Declaration.

In the same realm as the Manhattan Declaration is a more recent organization called, “City Mosaic.”  Their focus of unity is the false social gospel.

Elizabeth Prata has a good report about why we shouldn’t waste our time with Roma Downey’s new series, “A.D.”  It has very little to do with the truth of the Bible.

Lastly, there are “5 Reasons Your Church Should be Smaller.”  Mega-churches are appealing to popularity more than to the Bible.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies.

Some big news over the past week or so has been about Rick Warren’s capitulation to Rome.  A YouTube video has been posted, showing Warren’s discussion.  It takes 41 minutes, but is enlightening.  Aside from him calling the Pope, “Holy Father,” quoting the horrid “The Message,” and his much bragging about Saddleback, his books, courses, etc, he has some good things to say about marriage.  If only he had stuck to the subject of marriage and self!

Elizabeth Prata posted a couple 15-minute videos of James White examining Warren’s capitulation to Rome.  Find them here and here.

Oh, and since I mentioned Warren’s use of “The Message,” you might want to look at the new tract booklet about this corruption of the Bible at Lighthouse Trails Research Ministry.  It should be enough to prove how corrupt The Message is.

Erin Benziger has some more comments about Ann Voskamp’s book, “One Thousand Gifts.”  The book is rife with false teachings.

Christine Pack over at Sola Sisters posted an article about the Hebrew Roots Movement and Christmas.

But, “Is Christmas Day Rooted in Paganism?  Nope.  However, another humorous view of the same question might just give you a chuckle.

Answers In Genesis has many times posted articles about the dangerous and compromising teachings coming from the BioLogos organization.  This week I found another site examining why BioLogos is dangerous to Christian education.

Don’t let anyone tell you that “Allah” is an acceptable name for the God of the Bible.

I have previously posted information about the apostasy of the Disciples of Christ denomination, but Neil has added another log onto that fire.

Just when you think that the seeker-sensitive and market-driven church mentality has reached its limit for worldliness, you come across an article like this — which add more fuel to the fire of the apostasy at the Disciples of Christ!

A hat tip now to Erin for pointing us to this video, “Christian Girl Instagram.”  Good humor to end this post with!

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

We took a week vacation and I really got behind on reading all the news!  So I’ve gleaned what I consider the most important stuff to alert my readers to.

Let’s start with asking how a Catholic Cardinal can welcome gay activist participation in a predominantly Catholic St. Patrick’s Day parade?!?  Is he perhaps “gay” himself?  Has the RCC disciplined this man?

Jimmy Carter, one time worst president of the United States, has often been in the news as an example of a good Christian.  After all, he’s taught Sunday School for adults at his church, and since he used to be President that makes him an authority on the Bible.  I’ve previously reported on his false belief system, especially in regards to interviews about the “study Bible” in which he authored the commentaries.  Carter has also in the past said that Mormons are Christians.  In one of my “Random…” posts I noted how Carter twisted Galatians 3:28 to “prove” to the Catholics that they should allow women priests.  In another “Random…” post I noted that Carter claimed that wife-beating and other anti-woman behavior is due to such things and Rome not allowing women to be priests.  NOW Carter wants us to follow the teachings of Allah!  This man is what we call a CINO - Christian In Name Only.

Did you know that “confronting climate change” is a responsibility that the Bible teaches?  Well, Secretary of State John Kerry says so, and we know if he said it, it must be true!  Rather than checking with real Christians and real theologians, the media loves to get their Bible teaching from politicians who abuse Scripture as bad as do cults.  By the way, Mr. Kerry, man can’t do anything about the changing climate.

I’ve previously addressed problems with the Hebrew Roots Movement.  I came across this excellent article from the trenches — a woman whose husband got wrapped up in the movement.

The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Davenport, IA, has a woman “reverend” who “married” two lesbians.  Apparently the Disciples of Christ denomination is getting more and more liberal while walking away from the truth of Scripture

Humor for today, look what happens when martyrs read Joel Osteen tweets!

If you are not familiar with the original “9/11” massacre in 1857 when Mormons wiped out a wagon train which “violated” their territory, take a look at this Mormon Coffee article about a ballad which was written about it.  Mormons continue to claim that it was rogue members with no authorization from LDS leaders, but the evidence is pretty conclusive that Brigham Young was responsible; John D. Lee (leader of the attack) states as much in his book, “Mormonism Unveiled”.  For those of my readers who have an interest, I can suggest the following titles:
American Massacre, by Sally Denton
The Mountain Meadows Massacre, by Juanita Brooks
White Flag: America’s First 9/11, by Wayne Atilio Capurro
Blood of the Prophets: Brigham Young and the Massacre at Mountain Meadows, by Will Bagley

For any Mormon readers, I would like to challenge you to listen to my pastor’s sermon from this past Sunday, as he discusses “The Spirituality of God.”  God is not, and never was a man.  He has always been spirit.

Oh boy, oh joy!  Another visit to heaven, this time by false teacher Rick Joyner.

Elizabeth Prata has some interesting information about Coptic Christians — and about Eastern Orthodoxy.

I’ve previously mentioned a new movie titled, “Holy Ghost,” and how it appeared to be unbiblical.  Well, I’m not disappointed in that initial belief — the movie is by heretic Bill Johnson and his Bethel Church!  You just know it has to be unbiblical with that starting point.

Gary Gilley has a good review of a new book which challenges teachings by Tim Keller.  For all the good teachings Keller might have, I think this book would demonstrate why we should not recommend anything by Keller.

Lastly, just this morning I read an excellent analogy by Elizabeth Prata.  I don’t want to spoil it for you — go read it for yourself.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

One reason why apologists such as me continue to press the issue of proper teaching and exposing false teachings is that unbiblical teaching leads to an unbiblical worldview.  The proof can be given in two examples: abortion and homosexuality.   Unbiblical teaching in regards to just these two moral issue have led to the unbiblical worldview that God approves of both and therefore we should also approve of both, no matter how much it leads to the moral corruption of our society.  These two topics, as well a the preaching of the social gospel, have led almost all the mainline denominations into varying degrees of apostasy in regards to their overall theological viewpoints.  Then this leads to more and more un-discipled Christians who remain in the flesh with their worldviews.  And it spreads like cancer through the body of Christ.

As an example of my point, the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has now decided to affirm sexual anarchy with the embracing of openly homosexual members.  Even beyond that, they are embracing the lie of “transgenderism.”

Even Roman Catholicism has their rogues who support same-sex fake marriage.  Jesuit Priest John Whitney in San Francisco (where else?) marched in the “Gay Pride” parade in solidarity with and respect for our homosexual brothers and sisters.”  Too bad he forgets that the only brothers and sisters of Christians are other Christians!  Will the Pope excommunicate him?  Not likely.

Speaking of the Pope, he is now offering indulgences to reduce time spent in purgatory if you will just follow him on Twitter!  Yes, the heretical idea of purgatory, and the heretical idea that one can earn their way out of such a non-existent place simply by following the Pope’s “tweets,” is again demonstrating that the Roman Catholic Church is NOT a Christian organization.  IF purgatory was real, does it make sense that God would lessen one’s time there just because they followed the pope’s “tweets”?!?!  If you think purgatory is real, and that indulgences are biblical and beneficial, I invite you to read my article on the subject.

In my last “Random” post I provided some information about the upcoming “Wildgoose Festival” and the false teachers who would be in attendance.  More information can now be found at Lighthouse Trails Research.

Elizabeth Prata has a good list with 20 Characteristics of false teachers.  If you recognize any of these characteristics at your local assembly, perhaps you should think about running out of there!

If you are interested in learning more about the false teachings of people in the Word of Faith cult or other charismania, there is a “Strange Fire Conference” coming in California in October.  The Cripplegate talks a little bit about what you will learn and who will be speaking, but they mainly give a good report about Rodney Howard-Browne’s having his dander up about the exposure people like him will be getting and what is wrong with his pragmatic approach to his false teaching.

Richard Foster has been mentioned in some of my articles about the current move to bring all things mystical into the Church.  Lighthouse Trails Research ministry has a good post about problems with his teachings.

I will end today’s edition with an interesting article about Bill Gothard’s method cultic teaching which “inoculates” his followers against those who would criticize him.  Recovering Grace ministries is a good one for information about Gothardism and the harm his false teachings have caused.
