That was an O.T. rule for Israel only, and it wasn’t just on income. Churches who use the word “tithe” instead of “gifts” or “offerings” (e.g.) are helping to foster this nonsense.

Racism for Lent?

You can always tell a false church with false teachers when they introduce racism as part of their Lenten celebration.

First United Church of Oak Park, IL, has decided to eliminate any vestige of “whiteness” in order to celebrate a mostly “African” (as if all blacks have African heritage and as if black or “Native American” Christians don’t want anything to do with hymns or liturgy by “whites.”)

But when you look at their web page you will see that the ‘story of Noah is an origin myth” — an origin MYTH?!?  You’ll also see that two women are on their pastoral staff, in violation of the teaching of the Bible. And they support the “LGBTQ community” (We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people into the full life and ministry of the church, including ordination, expecting and encouraging them to share their talents and gifts in the life, liturgy, leadership, and employment positions of our congregation, as our ministers, teachers, members, visitors, and friends.)

Well, what else can you expect from the apostate United Church of Christ denomination which is also affiliated with the apostate Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination? Both are LEFTIST church groups who long ago left Biblical Christianity behind, so having a racist Lenten celebration is just “par for the course” for them.

I think it is proper to say that there are no real Christians there.

Odds and Ends

With this post I start with some good information and then develop into the theme of false teachers, including warnings about not following them. So let’s get started.

So Many Things to Think About!

I’ll begin with a good one: Adam Named Eve.

Christians can never endorse “transsexuality.” That ideology is anti-God.

Here’s one for fun: This is very clever the way a musician pokes fun at a false “prophetess.” She looks possessed to me.

The Vatican has come out against same-sex “mirage.” It’s about time.

Now to the serious.

When you live the lifestyle of the rich and famous false teachers/fake Christians, you have your own jets and travel on their congregations’ dollars. And of course God tells them to buy them.

Another example of the un-Christian and harmful ideology of the heretical and apostate Episcopal Church.

Satan is brainwashing the children.

Beth Moore leaves Southern Baptists.  Interesting. More on the topic.  Dwight McKissic, a fake “pastor” who is leaving the Southern Baptist Convention because some DBC bigwigs say Marxism is incompatible with Christianity, has made the follow gross and blasphemous tweet about Beth:

Andy Stanley is more about himself than he is about being a pastor or teachers.

J.D.Greer continues to prove he is a false teacher.

Campus Crusade (“CRU”) and Matt Chandler both continue their dive into false and destructive teaching.  More reasons to abandon Matt Chandler.

Michael Brown continues to demonstrate why he should be avoided; he defends false prophets.

Tim Keller continues to convince me that he is a fake Christian.  Here’s the 4-minute audio. Notice how he claims those of us who want a non-Demokrat president or want to defend against LEFTIST ideology, “Christian Nationalists.”

Does your church preach “inclusivity” and “white privilege”? If so, run from that false church.

THIS is what happens when Critical Race Theory is allowed to invade the Church.

The Southern Baptist Convention is becoming more and more LEFT. Here we have an SBC “pastor” — Thabiti Anyabwile — telling you if you think Biden’s election was illegitimate, then you have “spiritual cancer.” This “pastor” should be booted out.

We’ll end as we began and that is with something GOOD!

Learn Discernment and Stay Safe from False Teachings

“Black Lives Matter” and the Christian

This week I learned that my neighbors (a dark-complected couple), who are ostensibly Christian, are racists.  Why do I say that?  Because I saw the wife wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned “BLACK LIVES MATTER.”  So how does this make her racist, and why can’t Christians support the “BLM” movement?

Christians are supposed to be supporters and promoters of truth, and if what they are supporting and promoting are based on lies and frauds, then they are bring shame on the name of Christ.

The BLM movement was founded on the false narrative of “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,” a phrase Michael Brown supposedly said when he was shot by police in Ferguson, MO, in 2014.  Michael Brown was a well-known thug and had just robbed a store when confronted by police.  All evidence points to the police shooting being justified due to Brown’s assault on the police officer.  Yet because it was a white police officer, suddenly it became a racial issue.  

The BLM movement is all about racism, promoting the lives of blacks over all other lives, and if you dare say “All Lives Matter,” you are excoriated and called a racist.

The BLM movement also birthed police assassinations, ostensibly because all non-black police officers are racists.

Since the whole reason for the BLM movement is based on a false narrative, and since it is 100% racist, and since it promotes assassination of police officers, there is no way anyone bearing the name of Christ should even hint at supporting it.

Instead, Christians should remind people that racism is a sin, and that all human lives matter.

Now that you’ve suffered through yesterdays reports on what is wrong with the Church, today you get to look at some edifying things I’ve come across recently.

Some biblical counseling advice about examining yourself and not returning “to the vomit.”

What does “wives, submit to your own husbands” mean?   Good cartoon graphic.  If only everyone actually understood this.

Good, thought-provoking article by Albert Mohler about the history of the “Heresy of Racial Superiority.”  We in the Church need to accept that the Church often was leading the charge for racism, and admit such teachings were indeed unbiblical.

The Cripplegate has a good article about how Christians have to understand and how we are to confront and deal with “The Self-Deification of a Nation.”

An interesting blog I have been following for a couple months is “A Cry For Justice.”  It’s primary focus is about how the Church fails to deal with domestic abuse and sexual abuse within its membership.  Very often with domestic abuse the wife is just told to submit (we have a good friend whose church would tell her to submit to her husband as she suffered continual abuse until she violated their rules and left him), and merely slap the husband’s hands without every holding him accountable.  The leadership in these churches will be held accountable before God.  I don’t agree with everything on the blog, especially with some eisegetical practices, but overall they do a good job of supporting the victims.  Anyway, this particular article, “Some Thoughts on Broadway, the Narrow Way, and Abuse” was worth sharing.

One of the biblical passages that skeptics like to assault is Deuteronomy 21:18-21 in regards to the execution of the rebellious son.  What is really going on, though, and is it as unjust and barbaric as the skeptic claims?  I think this excellent commentary should answer all the objections.

In these days of such rapid collapse of all moral conscience in our society, always remember where our Mighty Fortress is.

Random Stuff

I have been collecting a lot of items this past week, so put on your sunglasses and get ready for much darkness to be exposed!

There is a lot of controversy about The Harbinger, the best-selling book by Jonathan Cahn.  I have discussed this book in previous random posts (under the label “Cahn, Jonathan), but more and more is coming out about Cahn himself and his aberrant beliefs.  Apprising Ministries has been following the subject, so my links will take you to that site.  The first article I’d like you to read has a claim by Cahn that God used “spiritual wingnut” Jim Bakker to launch his book.  The next article tells about Cahn’s claim that he’s been blessed by Bakker’s mentoring.  The last article demonstrates more of Cahn’s association with Word of Faith heretics, as well as showing how Cahn will not correct those who see him as a prophet.  I think discernment would tell us to avoid any teachings by Jonathan Cahn.

Seeker-sensitive goatherd Steven Furtick has become buddies with Word of Faith heretic Rod Parsley.  Parsley considers Furtick to be “one of the nations most influential young leaders.”  I think this idea is really scary.  Apprising Ministries demonstrates that Furtick is becoming a “quasi-Word Faith preacher.”  For those who doubt that Rod Parsley is a heretic, I suggest this post by Apprising Ministries.

Tim Challies has posted a review of Mike and Debi Pearl’s book, To Train Up a Child. This is a book I previously reviewed, but you might find Challies’ report to be worthwhile. Meanwhile, Recovering Grace did their own review of the book Challies previously reported on, Debi Pearl’s “Created to Be His Help Meet.”  The Pearls are definitely teachers to avoid.

In the news last week was a report about a Jackson, MS, church [link gone by 12/16/16] who would not allow a black couple to be married there.  This is totally unbiblical and unChristlike racism.  The pastor of the church was told that if he conducted the wedding there, he would lose his position.  I understand that the pastor, Stan Weatherford, was interested in giving the couple a controversy-free wedding, however, I have to condemn him for not defying the members who were racists.  I think the proper thing for him to have done was to either defy them (and I would think the couple would go along with it - at least if it was me, I would) and hold the wedding ceremony there, or else resign his position.  The racists won the battle.  If Weatherford had done the ceremony there, the racists would have been exposed and excommunicated until they repented. The big question I have is, will Weatherford preach against racism?  Will he require repentance of the racists? Apparently there are enough members of that assembly who would have supported Weatherford had he done the ceremony there.  This goes to show that our shepherds should not allow themselves to be intimidated against doing what is right.

“Vision Casting” seems to be the rage among many of the seeker-sensitive and emergent leaders.  They have a “vision” for the direction of their church and if you don’t agree, well then, as Mark Driscoll has said, they need to be thrown off the bus.  Ken Silva has a good article about the unbiblical nature of “vision casting.”

Recovering Grace blog is testimonies from former Gothardites, i.e., those involved with IBLP.  There are so many excellent testimonies telling of the cult-like teachings of this organization that it is difficult to choose what to tell you about.  I have posted some previously.  “Why I Reject IBLP” is a good one to read to understand the depths of spiritual damage which happens in groups like this.

Lifeway Christian Resources bookstores is an arm of the Southern Baptist Convention.  It is they who are responsible for publishing Beth Moore’s false teachings while pulling the movie “Courageous” because of language issues.  The SBC rejected the 2001 NIV Bible because of its gender-neutral translations, yet Lifeway continues to sell it.  When questions were raised about this issue, Lifeway simply stated that people have to trust its trustees to determine what they sell in their stores.  Um, yeah; I’m supposed to trust people to decide what is appropriate when they are very inconsistent.  They sell boatloads of false teaching by Beth Moore and yet refuse to sell a movie because of questionable language (and it isn’t the really foul stuff, either), but they will sell a liberal translation Bible.

Seeker-sensitive and emergent churches have claimed that Paul taught the use of worldly ways to draw people to hear the Gospel.  They claim this based on 1 Corinthians 9:22b, where Paul says, “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”  Was Paul really a pragmatist?  Pastor Larry DeBruyn presents an excellent biblical argument against that idea.

Finally, Apprising Ministries exposes the mysticism of Henry Blackaby’s “Experiencing God.”
