We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Good

Who was Noah’s Wife? I thought this was a very interesting article!

Does the Bible Imply the Holy Spirt is Female? Short answer: Absolutely not.

The Genesis Genealogies. Interesting rebuttal study for those who are defending these genealogies.

Learn about the fraudulent saying, “Separation of Church and State.”

Why the New Testament Gospels Are the Only Reliable Accounts of Jesus’ Life.

And—-something interesting about a possible location of Noah’s Ark.

Bad

The Eastern Orthodox Trick. Icons or images?

One of the reasons I consider John Piper is a false teacher.

The Episcopal Church has proven its racismA bit more. Look at what one of their bishops says!

David Platt is off his rocker! Don’t allow him to teach you!

Ugly

Beth Moore and Women Preachers.

Andy Stanley’s Church Doubles Down on Transgender Ideology. Demented minds ignore biology and God’s creation.

UMC “Pastor” calls Jesus a liar!  Even more information on this second post!

A Lutheran school with a queer prom!?!?

Mennonite Pastrix indoctrinates children into LGBTQ ideology!!!

Looks like the United Church of Christ is a church of Satan’s, as are others noted in this article.

Error of Calvinism?

Galatians 3:2,3 substantiate the fact that no person is regenerated or indwelt by the Spirit of God without having believed; that is, faith in the message of Christ is accompanied by the initial entrance of the Holy Spirit into that person’s life. Without faith, there is no Spirit of God. Verse 3 emphasizes that the Galatian believers had “begun” that way. This is devastating to the Calvinist doctrine (presupposition) that one is regenerated by God’s Spirit BEFORE he/she believes.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
Did Jesus Approve of Homosexuality? The answer is, of course, no he did not. Be sure to read the 5 sermons by Pastor Don Green to which this article links.

A great article debunking the whole Mariolatry of the Roman Catholic Church.

Good, concise analysis of “The Message.”

I’ve known that “Holy Ghost” in old English (e.g., KJV) wasn’t as accurate as “Holy Spirit,” but I never knew why.  Now I know!

Great reference source to articles about the KJV Only movement.

The Bad and/or Ugly
The Pope really, really needs to butt out of politics/social gospel and stick to his RCC, which needs a whole lot of correction and cleaning up! The “migrants” are an invading army — PERIOD!

Roman Catholic colleges need to be held accountable by the Roman Catholic Church. Having perversions as entertainment SHOULD go against Catholic teachings.

You can’t make this stuff up!

And you can’t make this stuff up, either!

Nor can you make this stuff up.

The previous three examples are what the apostate “church” looks like. They are not Christian assemblies, and their leaders are satanic wolves.

Then there are the many “churches” who decide to be part of the world for Halloween. Instead of just ignoring the day they have to behave as everyone else!  While reading this article, take a look at what the Church by the Glades has been preaching on— proving again that it is not a church of Christ, but rather a goat-pen for the ignorant. (A closer look at Church by the Glades and their satanic celebration can be found here.)

The abject heresy of the Anglican Church; an Imam preaching a sermon.

Please educate yourself in God’s Word, and use discernment.  The devil is certainly prowling for your loyalty.

Signs and Wonders?

It is ironic that Charismatics, who consider themselves experts on the Holy Spirit, completely misunderstand the purpose of the Holy Spirit’s ministry. Does the Bible teach that the Holy Spirit came so that we could have a wonderful, subjective experience? So that we could have wonderful religious sensations? So that we could feel electric current in our bodies? So that we could have an exciting, mind-blowing experience? So the our worship services would make people go, “Wow, how thrilling”? Does the Bible teach that the Holy Spirit came so that people would focus on the Holy Spirit? So that people would hang banners with representations of doves in their churches and have seminars on Spirit-baptism, etc.? No, not at all. Listen carefully to what Jesus Christ says about the Spirit’s ministry: “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come…He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you” (Jn.16:13-14). The Holy Spirit came to point me to Christ and to glorify Christ. After Peter was baptized in the Spirit, did he stand up and tell the crowd about his wonderful experience? Did he say, “Men and brethren, I have just received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and I want to tell you how wonderful it is. When it came upon me, it was like being thrilled with a vital electric current. I felt such a beautiful love and peace course through my whole body, right down to the balls of my feet”? On the contrary, Peter made no reference to himself or his feeling. His message was Jesus Christ and Him crucified: “Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God…” (Ac. 2:22).  . . .

The Bible teaches that signs are public, visible, miraculous events. Their purpose was not to give believers exciting worship services or a wonderful experience but to authenticate a divine message or messenger, to prove publicly that the person performing miracles was sent from God.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good:
Ecumenical vs Evangelical.  Thought-provoking.  Continuing in this vein, read Idolatry, Demons, and Ecumenism

How do they [blaspheme the Holy Spirit]?  By attributing to the Holy Spirit words that He didn’t say, deeds that He didn’t do, and experiences that He didn’t produce, attributing to the Holy Spirit that which is not the work of the Holy Spirit.  Endless human experiences, emotional experiences, bizarre experiences, and demonic experiences are said to come from the Holy Spirit.  Visions, revelations, voices from heaven, messages from the Spirit through transcendental means, dreams, speaking in tongues, prophecies, out-of-body experiences, trip to heaven, anointings, miracles – all false, all lies, all deceptions – attributed falsely to the Holy Spirit.  Read the rest, by John MacArthur.

Why we can’t forgive ourselves.  Good response to those who are always saying, “I just can’t forgive myself.”

Another good article on who the real Pharisees are.

How VBS has driven too many from the Church.  I remember my pagan mother sending me to VBS, where I learned nothing of eternal consequence.

The Bad:
More about Debi Pearl’s false teaching supporting spousal abuse.  Oh, and her husband Michael is right in there with his own dangerous teaching.  I love this great response to Michael.

Verse mapping — another false teaching which is new to me.  Where do people get such nonsensical ideas?!?!?!

The Osteens never met a Bible verse that they didn’t twist.

Another example as to why Matt Chandler is not qualified to be a pastor: he continually demonstrates his lack of discernment.

The Ugly:
An old “hymn” that really, really, needs to be trashed!

Who or what are they worshiping here?

Bethel Redding teaches “Firestarters,” a course to “activate” your prophetic gift.  You too can become a prophet there for only $395.  Nothing like cranking out more and more false prophets to blaspheme God.

Some Things for Edification, Some to Just Think About

Interesting information about the angel Gabriel.

Steve Bricker has an excellent study of the Holy Spirit’s work in Acts, and some lessons about it.

Did Paul pray for the dead?  An excellent article examining one of the “proof” texts used by Roman Catholicism to defend the false doctrine of purgatory.

When Christians Act Like Mormons.  Think about your evangelistic ideology.

The tragedy of Biblical illiteracy and the remedy needed.

A very interesting article about “cross-heresy addiction.”  I’ve known many people like this, who jump from one false teaching to another, and I have learned it isn’t unusual for those leaving one cult to fall in with another.

I can fully empathize with Michelle, and agree with her responses!  (Except that the command against women teaching men is in the context of the assembly, not on blogs, books, etc.  Woman can certainly teach men outside of the assembly.)

The Arian Snare  — prevalent in too many “churches” today.

Seek Biblical Teachings, Not Charismatic Excess

Instead of holy laughter, we need holy living.  Pep is no substitute for purity.  Words of knowledge don’t hold a candle to the words of the Bible.  Rather than being slain in the Spirit, we need to be filled with the Spirit.  Rather than dancing in the Spirit, we are commanded to walk in the Spirit.  Instead of speaking in other tongues, we need to speak more boldly the wonderful works of God in our native tongue.  The prophecies of the Bible do not need to be augmented by so-called prophets today.  God’s revelation is complete and sufficient.  Let’s devote ourselves to knowing, loving, and obeying it, and thereby to know, love, and obey our Savior more and more each day.

Do Nothing to Grieve the Holy Spirit

Remember that the Spirit is always in you.  Start your day by saying, “I am a child of God, and therefore the Holy Spirit of God dwells within me.  Whatever I may be, whatever I may have to do, whatever may happen to me, He will be with me; my very thought, word and deed will be in His sight and in His presence.”  Oh, how I thank God for the privilege!  how careful I should be in nothing to grieve Him or to disappoint Him!  Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed until the day of redemption.  Remember Him, remember why He is doing in you, think of the glory for which He is preparing you, and the things that grieve Him will become unthinkable.

Some Good Stuff to Read

Here is another collection of articles which I’ve read recently which I felt would be good to pass along.  May you find them informative and edifying.

A good history of the charismatic movement by Gary Gilley.  This is followed by “Doctrinal Distinctives of the Charismatic Movement,” part 1 and part 2.

Gilley also has an excellent 4-part series on “The Afterlife.”  Part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4.  I think you’ll find them very interesting.

Why extra-biblical writings attributed to James aren’t reliable.

That should be enough reading for today!

More Random Good Stuff

I’ve come across some more good stuff which I feel are worth sharing so others can be edified as I have been.

Over the past couple years I have followed John MacArthur’s “Grace to You” blog off and on, and finally decided that there was enough good stuff to sign up for the daily emails.  Some are more thought-provoking that others, of course, and the next two items are two I felt needed to be shared.

First, there is the need for us Christian men to be “Sensible Men.”  No doubt about it.

The other article is “Guarding Sexual Purity.”  Sexual immorality, including the use of pornography, is one of the most insidious evils polluting our families and society.  Christians need to set the example with sexual purity, regardless of what the world is doing around us.

Now, there is an ideology which takes the whole sexual purity to an extreme to where Christians are doing the same thing as the unbelievers by identifying themselves as their sexuality!  We are NOT our sexuality.  Our sexuality is part of who we are as humans, but it doesn’t identify us — so quit acting like the world!

Atheists and skeptics love to condemn Christians for things like the Spanish Inquisition.  A good history lesson should give you ammunition to destroy the arguments these people present.

Answers In Genesis has a good response to “The Lost World of Adam and Eve,” a publication which ignores what the Bible says and makes claims based on the secular world’s information.  Personally, I like to get my facts from Scripture rather than man’s speculations.

Excellent article by Gary Gilley about “The Holy Spirit’s Witness.

Lastly, for those who claim that our Bible was assembled by the Council of Nicea or chosen by Constantine, etc, the evidence is very plain that the N.T. books were in use in the Church before the end of the 2nd century.  So those who claim otherwise need to come up with a different story.  The entire series this article is part of is quite interesting and recommended.
