We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

More Odds And Ends For the New Year

I’ve gathered quite a few items which I decided needed to be shared. Some good information, and some reports on bad things in the church.

Too many Christians believe in, and promote, evolutionism. Well, what they believe about it is NOT science.

Excellent article explaining the unbiblical teachings of Eastern Orthodoxy.  (I wrote a short article about the E.O. back in 2010).

The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, has gone “woke.” I never thought I’d see this day.

The Church of England is satan’s church.

Jude 5—Reconsidered.

Four Questions about the Love of God to Ask Jehovah’s Witnesses

When people say we are not to bother exposing false teachings, tell them to read the Bible.

The Quandary of Seeming Biblical Contradictions

The abuse of Hebrews 13:8 is rampant.

Did Thomas Jefferson really cut miracles out of the Bible to make his own “Jefferson Bible”? Absolutely not.

Bill Johnson, of Bethel Redding Church, made the following heretical statement: “God is in charge but He is not in control. He has left us in control.” Do I have to explain what’s wrong with this?

Andy Stanley goes from bad to worse.  And worse to heretical.

How rules for diets are NOT biblical.

Just what we need—the return of Bill Gothard, Mr. Legalism himself.

President Biden decided to preach a sermon and proved he is not a Christian by his false understanding of what the Gospel is. Of course he routine broadcasting of his ideology has proven this time and again.

If people want to celebrate Martin Luther King as a civil rights activist, so be it. BUT, never celebrate him as a Christian because he was a false teacher and heretic.

Beth Moore—she just doesn’t get the Christian faith.  An interesting commentary about the situation showed up at The Federalist.

Odds and Ends

With this post I start with some good information and then develop into the theme of false teachers, including warnings about not following them. So let’s get started.

Is Progressive Christianity Christian?

Theistic evolution and the doctrine of death. Fairly long article but well worth reading to learn how theistic evolution can’t stand up to the facts of death in the Bible.

How about using apologetics in sermons?

The Fleeting Pleasures of Sin.

Biden and the Bishops: Communion and the Care of a Soul. I disagree with a lot of Roman Catholic Doctrines but in this case they are WRONG to not excommunicate politicians who violate Christian teachings.

Is the Bible based on “white supremacy” to deny evolution of people originating in a black race? Um, NO! Be sure you are prepared to respond to this nonsense.

The Death of the Episcopal Church is Near. Actually, as a Christian church it died decades ago as it became a fixture of LEFTIST theology. Good riddance.

The problems of the Boy Scouts are a good lesson for Christians—when you compromise with the world you begin your downfall.

Music can be a “gateway drug” to heresy.

Stay away from Perry Noble — he’s just another harmful false teacher.

Judah Smith, false teacher who is part of the Hillsong cult.

Bill Johnson and Bethel Redding — False teacher in Satan’s church.  Rediscover Bethel?

If you don’t understand what is wrong with the teachings of Bill Johnson and others at Bethel, this article should open your eyes!

This racist claims to be a pastor. Christianity and racism don’t mix. And then there is THIS racist “pastor.

David Platt is teaching Critical Race Theory in his Church. CRT is not compatible with Christian teachings.

Beth Moore has gone off the rails.

If your “church” does this, RUN! It is not a Christian church.

Lastly, something to think about:

Anyone who does not remain in Christ’s teaching but goes beyond it, does not have God. 2 John 9a.

For some men, who were designated for this judgment long ago, have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into promiscuity and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord. Jude 4

Ends and ODDS!

Let’s start this post with an article from Answers In Genesis.  A Cultural and Spiritual Crisis Based on Fake Science!

The Roman Catholic Church is really showing its true colors lately.  First, we have the Pope promoting legalized same-sex unions, i.e. “marriage.” Then he goes and appoints pro-LGBT men to the College of Cardinals. The Cripplegate says we shouldn’t be surprised.

With the current culture and election fever we need to understand “Dogma Fights.”

Of course sometimes “dogma fights” lead to changing God’s Word to suit personal ideologies. And other times they lead to really silly arguments.

Now I need to alert you to what’s going on with some false teachers:

Todd Smith. I never heard of this guy before, but he is sly but dangerous.

Another I’ve not heard of is Sean Feucht. He’s connected with the blasphemous and apostate Bethel Redding goat-pen.

Greg Laurie likes the endorsement of false teachers.

John Piper continues his descent into support of the LEFT. Gary DeMar has a rebuttal for Piper.

Beth Moore.  This lady just keeps getting worse. Elizabeth Prata believes Beth is demon-possessed. I’m not sure I can go that far, but Moore is certainly demonically influenced.

Be DISCERNING, people!

Some Recommended Good Reading

Who was St. Patrick, and should Christians celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?  Patrick was a “proto-protestant,” and not a Catholic.  I used to wear an orange shirt to work on St. Patty’s Day, with a British Union Jack on the pocket!

The cost of leaving cults and false teachings.

Regular readers (and new ones) have perhaps noticed that I don’t normally address the creation/evolution debate except from a biblical point of view, using proper hermeneutical principals. I also will expose as false teachers those who espouse progressive creation, theistic evolutionism, or any other old earth creation nonsense. Once in a great while I will slip and make note of scientific fallacy, but that is rare. For those looking for good scientific arguments there is Answers In Genesis, the Institute for Creation Research, and many other ministries with solid scientists who are young earth creationists. I will also point you to a site by a fellow blogger who DOES like to spend time with examining the scientific evidence for young earth creationism and against evolutionism, and here’s an example of the latter. Jesse also has excellent articles exposing the errors of Roman Catholicism, as well as other general apologetics issues; you may enjoy visiting his blog.

An examination of the Jehovah’s Witness idea of Jesus’ resurrection — bizarre.

Some good responses to atheists’ “proof” that God cannot exist.

It Was Not So From the Beginning. Same-sex attraction is sin.

How to demonstrate to Jehovah’s Witnesses that Jesus died on a cross, not a stake.

Using proper hermeneutics with Seventh-day Adventists.

Some Educational and Edifying Articles

I have been reading some excellent articles this past couple weeks, which I think need to be promoted; they have information which I believe is necessary for Christians to know for defending the Faith.  So, here are the links:

I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist.  Even with their non-scientific ideologies, they need more faith for their beliefs than a Christian ever would need.

Refuting Paul Young’s false teaching in his book, Lies We Believe About God.

Is the KJV Only position correct in maintaining that the doxology in Matthew 6:13 is original? What about John 7:52-8:11? Short answer to both: NO.

The myth of 33,000 denominations.

The Jesus of the Seventh-day Adventists is not the Jesus of the Bible.

God has something to say about the way we approach worship.

Freemasonry is indeed a religion. 9:47-minute video.

Paul was indeed married, as this article thoroughly examines.

I agree with this article when it comes to biblical reasons for divorce.

The Word of Faith teachings are heretical and spiritually dangerous.

Good, Bad, and Ugly

Today I’ve got a back log of links to share with all sorts of articles.  Also, I’m still looking for homes for lots of books, as listed on this post. I’ve already sent out 15 books from the list (I deleted those no longer available)!

The Good:
Some good articles discussing transubstantiation have been published by Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry:

Who were the Pharisees? Looks like they had four good doctrinal positions.

Contrary to the claims of Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh-day Adventist, the archangel Michael is NOT Jesus.  And for the Mormons, he isn’t Adam either!

Biblical prophets vs modern prophets — some good thoughts.

A great list of scientists who disagree with Darwinism.

Rational Christian Discernment blog posts a lot of good articles exposing Roman Catholicism; I highly recommend it. (Jesse also posts about other subjects.)

The Bad and/or Ugly
Discerning people KNEW the claim about a trip to heaven was a lie, but Tyndale was more interested in making more money than protecting the flock from false teachings.

Run from Bethel Redding as fast as you can!

Brian Houston of Hillsong is downright heretical.

The “Jesus is my boyfriend” ideology just keeps spreading.  Mark and beware of the authors noted in this article.

Matt Chandler is now giving prophecies.

More proof that Steven Furtick is not qualified to be a pastor.

More proof that the Roman Catholic Church is anti-God; the Vatican and other Catholic sources are spending millions of dollars to support illegal immigrants. I thought Christians were supposed to obey the laws of the land! Even worse, the Pope is teaching heresy!

Another article proving the Episcopal Church no longer has a right to consider itself Christian.

Evolution or the Bible?

If you believe in the evolutionary theory, you are really saying that God never made man perfect, but is bringing him to perfection.  Therefore there is no true sin.  But the Bible teaching is that man was made perfect and that he fell from that perfection, with the result that this power, this canker, has entered human nature and is there as an evil force within.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

I’m not going to have time tomorrow to post an RAAH, so I’m going to post this today even though I don’t have a large collection.  Still, it’s always a rough ride.

This woman’s husband is a youth pastor in a Baptist church and yet he is allowing his wife to support Muslims?!?!  He should be relieved of his position because he is not “managing his own family well.” (1 Tim 3:4)  H/T to Erin.

Evangelicals Divided, A Movement Fractured, Part 1.  Marsha West does an outstanding job of explaining what is happening in the “evangelical” Church.  Looking forward to part 2!

Cleaning out my files I came across this excellent review of John Eldredge’s wildly unbiblical book, Wild at Heart.  Don’t wast your money on this book.

I also found this short review of Jessie Penn-Lewis’ book, War on the Saints.  I read the book a long time ago and found way too many problems with it.

Another Gilley book review from that file is this one on Bruce Wilkinson’s Secrets of the Vine.   Not as bad as his “The Prayer of Jabez,” but that’s not saying a whole lot!

Answers in Genesis has a very good technical article reviewing Robert T. Pennock’s book, “Tower of Babel: The Evidence against the New Creationism.”  The book’s intent is to “prove” the errors of creationism while “proving” evolution, but his charges are all easily dismantled by the reviewer.

Just too funny.  Sounds like Steven Furtick’s church.

Speaking of Steven Furtick — SIGH!

Doctrines of Demons.  The whole idea in charismatic circles is not only unbiblical and nonsensical, but also spiritually dangerous to those under the burden of such teachings!

Video exposing Beth Moore as a false teacher.

The Resurrection really happened.

Let’s end with some more humor:  Altar Call Self Defense Training.  Something you’ll need to know for those charismatic meetings!
