We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea

Ends and ODDS!

Let’s start this post with an article from Answers In Genesis.  A Cultural and Spiritual Crisis Based on Fake Science!

The Roman Catholic Church is really showing its true colors lately.  First, we have the Pope promoting legalized same-sex unions, i.e. “marriage.” Then he goes and appoints pro-LGBT men to the College of Cardinals. The Cripplegate says we shouldn’t be surprised.

With the current culture and election fever we need to understand “Dogma Fights.”

Of course sometimes “dogma fights” lead to changing God’s Word to suit personal ideologies. And other times they lead to really silly arguments.

Now I need to alert you to what’s going on with some false teachers:

Todd Smith. I never heard of this guy before, but he is sly but dangerous.

Another I’ve not heard of is Sean Feucht. He’s connected with the blasphemous and apostate Bethel Redding goat-pen.

Greg Laurie likes the endorsement of false teachers.

John Piper continues his descent into support of the LEFT. Gary DeMar has a rebuttal for Piper.

Beth Moore.  This lady just keeps getting worse. Elizabeth Prata believes Beth is demon-possessed. I’m not sure I can go that far, but Moore is certainly demonically influenced.

Be DISCERNING, people!

Glenn,

John Piper, no surprise. He was the one who brought Mark "The Cussing Pastor" Driscoll into the fold, trying to get wholesale acceptance of him. Epic fail, and my husband and I put both of them on our "no, thank you" list.

Now Piper can't tell what is worse, "pride" vs. "murder"? Sure.

Moore - whether or not she's possessed is immaterial to me. I have already marked and avoided her as a false teacher.

AIG article well said.

Hello Glen,
I don't know who Elizabeth Pratap is and have no desire to follow her, and with that said, she claims that Beth Moore is demon possessed?

When I entered the gates of the local baptist church in our area, I was bridled by the leadership, composed of super spiritual authority figures, who tried, on vain, to lead me to the waterhole of their spiritual idols. Among the names of their golden calves were Beth Moore, Todd Bentley, Kenneth Copeland, John Hager, Smith Wiggles worth, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, John Piper, Benny Jinn, Paula White, James White, John MacArthur, James Dobson, Lori Alexander, Mike Buckle, Andrew Wommack, Mike Murdock, Lou Engle, etc.

I was also guilted into attending local so called revivals with rituals such as " getting drunk in a spirit, so called healings taking place, speaking in tongues of an infant jibberish language, hearing voices and receiving visions from a god, and the laying on of hands for the annointing of a spirit."

I trusted the authoritarian leadership placed before me, until I measured their words, the beliefs, and their life styles, with the Words of Jesus. Their lies, their immorality, their authoritarian legalism, their sexual improprieties, their worship of human beings over Jesus Christ, prompted me to separate my faith in Christ Alone for salvation, and distance myself from this cult I entered into.

One of the pastor's I chose to listen to after my exit, was John Piper. If E.P. believes Beth Moore is possessed by demons, does she give J.P. a free pass, as I found him to be equally yoked with B.M. concerning extra biblical revelations, and a complete but as well.

I must say that I happen to agree with John Piper's article and disagree with the response to him on this one.

Martha,

Then that puts you as unbiblical and irrational as Piper is.

Martha,
Elizabeth Prata is an excellent bible teacher (even though I disagree with her Calvinism). As I noted, I don't agree there is enough evidence to call Moore possessed, I definitely think she is demonically influenced.

Your list of who you consider false teachers shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, most in your list are false, but MacArthur is solid and is James White. You may not like their teaching because the speak the truth and I know from previous comments from you that you are KJV Only. Your false ideology colors your discernment, especially when you think Piper is a great teacher.

Martha,
I suggest you look at my post today, which is about Piper's tirade against Trump. He's a fool.

Martha, have you lost your mind? What makes you think that James White is a false teacher? I've read many of his books and found them to be great. Where do you get your information from?

Dear Martha,

Hoping this is the same Martha I know and love...

Wow, what a pile of craziness you were exposed to in the name of a Bible church. I am sorry you went through so much wrong done in Jesus' name. However, I would agree with Glenn that while most of those names are false teachers, some of the names on the list are definitely solid enough to be worthy of consideration. Though, of course, all teachers to be measured against Scripture, for no teacher is perfect.

Personally, I'm not the most political person, though I am very conservative in values - however, given what is at stake, I do consider voting in this election to be necessary.

Regarding Piper, I find Piper's argument to be quite unsubstantiated. I do agree with him that our current POTUS is a flawed man in many of the areas he mentioned, but the alternative is much worse. MUCH worse. There is a massive difference between an arrogant man who is pro-life (and has backed the pro-life statement with pro-life actions) vs an arrogant man who is so pro-abortion that he chose the most vile, liberal running mate possible, and wants to codify Roe v Wade into law for all 50 states.

What is the key problem with Piper's argument? As the one article Glenn posted states, Piper is comparing Trump's CHARACTER to Biden's POLICIES. That is not a correct comparison. Piper is in the wrong for trying to make that comparison.

What should we do? Character compared to character; policies compared to policies.

Comparing Trump's character to Biden's character, is frankly is a wash. Piper made his case about Trump. However... Biden's character demonstrates: arrogance, lying, racism, a credible accusation of sexual assault against him (Tara Reade), etc, and the whole very serious mess of his son's & family's corruption, some of which could potentially make him a very real threat to our national security should he be elected... these are not small matters. Sadly most of which has been ignored by the media. However, Biden's character also has VERY serious sins. As I said, the two men, a wash when it comes to character.

However, compare Trump's policies and platform with Biden's... there's NO comparison there. We get pro-life measures and pro-life justices for the SCOTUS with Trump, vs. Biden's plethora of wicked, unbiblical policies, which are abominations to the Lord.

So the choice in November is: man with poor character and good policies (Trump) vs. man with poor character and wicked policies (Biden).

Please consider the articles Glenn posted about this under his most recent blog post: Friday, October 30, 2020 A follow-up on John Piper’s tirade against President Trump

Blessings dear Martha,

Carolyn,

I may be wrong, but I don't think it is "our" Martha.

Glenn,

I sure hope you're right.

Martha, if you are a different Martha than the one we know and love here, still please consider the information Glenn posted.

Hi Glenn,

I was taken aback that it was a local Baptist Church where Martha encountered those people who were being promoted! Strange mix, too.
Never was a fan of Piper.

Very good reply from Carolyn. Hope everyone is praying as we await election results. May the Lord have mercy on all of us Americans and draw more into the fold before He calls us upward!
