How Do You Live?
“How we live quite often determines how we think. When we live a while in a particular sinful manner, our minds begin to justify and rationalize our actions.”

Random Apostasies and Heresies
The latest buzz is about some guy who claims to be a “Bible scholar” while at the same time claiming that the Roman government made up Jesus - that Jesus never really existed! The man is obviously oblivious to the factual historical information readily available. He’s truly a “flimflam” artist.
Joel Osteen - what can I say? This article is just another example of why Osteen is a false teacher - as well as a heretic.
A hat tip to Erin Benziger for the next three items:
In fact, as I have pointed out in the past, the Mormon Church actually places Joseph Smith in a position so as to be virtually more important than Christ!

Spiritual Gifts Have A Purpose
“The apostle’s view of the gifts was stated with perfect clarity in 1 Corinthians 12:7, where he said, ‘Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.’ The gifts have a purpose. They are given for the edification of the church, not for private pleasure or for a demonstration of the supposed highest level of spirituality. They are not a tool to manipulate your inner states or a device to make you feel better. They facilitate the edification of the church. This is the key point. Everything that is given to the church is given for its edification. If it doesn’t edify, no matter how exciting it seems, no matter how spiritual it feels - it is not fulfilling the requirements for a spiritual gift.”

Sexual Purity is the Biblical Way
“Young people often believe that they can fool around sexually and not be hurt. If you think this way, you are only fooling yourself. Christian young people often ask me how far they can go, not even realizing that once you are on that road, it can lead only to harm. This is not because sex is bad but because it is so powerful and can easily destroy what is so good. When you try to possess this enjoyment in a relationship outside of marriage, it will bring destruction.

What Is Man?
“What is man? Man is God’s creature; Yes, but man is God’s image, and through the misuse of his God-bestowed freedom, man is God’s shame and man is God’s problem; But by that incredible strategy of the cross, God makes it possible for man to become the Creator’s child; And man may become the Creator’s co-laborer, and man, finite man, may become the friend of an infinite and all-holy God; And ultimately man may be, if he will have it so, God’s glory.”

Random Apostasies and Heresies
I’ve been gathering news items while waiting for a chance to sit down and share them with my readers. Fasten your seat-belts - these things give a rough ride!
Do You Contemplate the Glory?
“The lack of true scriptural holiness today is surely due to the fact that we do not spend sufficient time in meditating upon the glory that awaits us. The world is too much with us, and we tend to think of salvation too much in terms of present experience rather than in the light of the glory which awaits us. This contemplation of the glory is the high road to holiness.”
D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, God’s Ultimate Promise: An Exposition of Ephesians 1. p.385

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, Holy, Holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, Holy, Holy! all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Tho’ the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see.
Only Thou art holy - there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, in purity.
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky, and sea.
Holy, Holy, Holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Husband Leads, Wife Responds
“The impression you get from some girls today is that they start out as soon as they are able, and they chase the boys until finally they run one down and marry him. And then we wonder why those marriages don’t work out. I risk being thought archaic for saying this, but I believe it is still the prerogative of the man to do the chasing. The man is always the deliverer, and the woman is the receiver. God made them that way. And that’s why He says to the man, ‘Husbands, love your wives’ (Eph. 5:25). He didn’t turn that around and instruct the wife to love the husband. Somebody asks, ‘Well, isn’t she supposed to?’ Of course she is, but she’s a responder. She is to respond to him. If he loves her, then she will love him. If he treats her harshly and cruelly, she will become cold and indifferent, and love will die. In the majority of cases - and over the years I have counseled literally hundreds of cases that have to do with marriage problems - the man is to blame. You see, he is the one who is responsible because he is to be the leader.”
J. Vernon McGee, “Ruth” (Thru The Bible Commentary Series), p.85
