Fifty years ago today, and it was a Thursday then also, I ended my enlistment time in the Army. After going for my physical, turning in all my gear that had to be turned in, and packing my 1972 VW with my stuff, I went to the B Company orderly room to sign out. The company Executive Officer, 2LT DeBow, had his wife bake this cake for me (someone else took this photo and sent it to me). Since I took a lot of guys flying while building flight time at the flying club, some began calling me the Red Baron. I said he was dead so, noticing I always wore blue when in civvies, I became the Blue Baron.
This next photo shows me coming into Jill's dormitory room at Ohio State, arriving after an almost 10-hr drive from Ft. Bragg. One of her roommates took the photo.
I was going to take Jill out to lunch to celebrate but we have a piano tuner coming at lunch time so I took her to breakfast at Perkins! (I wore my "Army Veteran" hat and my jacket with my parachutist wings but took them off to sit down, while Jill is wearing a small parachutist wings as befitting the wife of a paratrooper!)

You're more than just a few cuts above the average.
Aww, beautiful pics of beautiful people! Thank you, Glenn, for your service to God & country. And thank you, Mrs Jill, for supporting your SweetiePieGuy all these years. God Bless you both & may He multiply your fruit for His Kingdom. ~Brenda
Thank you. First meeting on 8/1/74 and then I went back to Ft. Bragg and we had a long distance relationship. After winning a parachute competition I got a 3-day pass to visit her in September, up for Columbus Day weekend, up for Thanksgiving and again for Christmas and then the day I got out was the first time to see each other in two months. So we also just celebrated our 50th Valentines--two weeks before I got out I sent her a dozen roses.
And thank you Brenda for your kind words!
