We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

More Thought-Provoking Odds and Ends

Be prepared to defend Genesis, even from those who promote the “gap” theory.

LEFTISTS have a lot of WRONG teachings about Jesus, teachings that are just to support their worldview. You should know how to dispute this nonsense.  First, did Jesus advocate wealth redistribution?  Second, was Jesus a political rebel?  Was Jesus a universalist?

Rick Warren: dangerous false teacher.

America’s Largest Catholic Healthcare Network Partners With Medical Abortion Provider. Absolutely disgusting. How can they call themselves “Catholic”??

What happens when a national church rules that God is no longer male?

CHRISTIANS HAVE A CHOICE TO MAKE: PAUL OF TARSUS OR TAURUS THE BULL. WHICH WILL IT BE?

The Gospel Coalition gets more unbiblically ridiculous by the day.

Todd White has always been a rank heretic, but he’s worse than I thought!  Notice heretic Michael Brown supporting him!

How many times do I have to warn about the TV series, The Chosen? The series is rank blasphemy from beginning to end.

And I thought the Church was in trouble in the USA—look at Germany!

False teachings about demons and “strongholds” do nothing but give people heavy spiritual burdens. NO SUCH THING AS DEMONIC STRONGHOLDS!!!

THIS is an example of why the Church in the USA is becoming ignored.

Let’s end with a bit of humor, IF you are one Facebook. I found this to be quite hysterical!

Hi Glenn, I have lived in Germany for over two decades, but I am not sure that the encroachment of LGBTQ is worse here than anywhere else in the western world. One daughter went through the German university system, the other the British and both countries are infected with this blight. Young people without real problems who emote rather than think.

It doesn't help that the Green party are heavily into this and are part of the current coalition German govt.

There is currently a large number of Germans leaving the historical churches by opting out of paying church tax. Last year this was 523 000 Catholics and 360 000 Protestants. The overwhelming majority are doing so as a reaction to the abuse and especially covering it up that has gone on in both confessions.

Liberal theology was a German invention and sin, and severly weakened the protestant church (Evangelisch, but don't mistake that for evangelical). The bible having lost its authority it is hardly surprising that there is little resistance to LGBT.

One thing I used to admire the Catholics for was that they held the line on both abortion and LGBT, but in Germany regarding the latter this has collapsed. The motivation might be that if the Catholic Church becomes more friendly with the culture it will stem the loss of members. In practice the reverse is usually the case. In neighbouring Austria, it won't be long before Catholics are no longer a majority of the population.

I'm not sure Calvin Robinson is right about heresy being a particularly German thing. In my experience (and with apologies!) most of the abherent doctrines experienced in Britain over my lifetime came over from the States, where there is a free market in religious opinion and doctrine. This has resulted in some of the best teachers and ministries you could want but also the "ministries" that you have dedicated so much time to having to expose and warn against.

Just scanned through your list and in coming upon the tiny bit about "The Chosen", I notice it's not about the show, but about cast members and their uneducated opinions. That's two different things, and aside from one or two of what I consider somewhat minor errors, I don't believe it's at all accurate to say it's "rank blasphemy from beginning to end".

Imperfections of the Perfect might be why mankind was not to make any images of God and the islamists take this command to the max. But most attempts to depict the life and story of Christ are, I believe, sincere while falling short of perfection. What this presentation has which most don't, is the warning to consider it an alternative to Scripture. The producer encourages viewers to study Scripture. I hope you're watching it and taking notes, rather than simply repeating what others have said about it. Can we be sure they're studying it? It's a well done series despite its flaws, and liberties are taken in even the best film presentation. For a series spread out over several seasons, it must be padded somehow because there's just not enough content in Scripture to do so. What's more, it's an attempt to present how things might actually have played out at that time, and I have no problem with such efforts of speculation.

One aspect of the series I like is how they come to address a number of Gospel episodes, so many of which are snippets in Scripture, and come upon them from a starting place unexpectedly leading to the actual incident. Very creative and imaginative.

I think perhaps you should seek out any who think has gone astray because of this series and set them straight. I wonder how many there actually are.

In my subject column on the left side of my blog I have 22 entries regarding “The Chosen” and just how bad it is in every way possible. First, even Dallas Jenkins says 95% of the story is made up. Secondly, here are just a few unbiblical ideas:

Peter says God makes mistakes.
Jesus has to prepare and rehearse the Sermon on the Mount, and seeks advice for it from Matthew as Matthew helps write it!
Jesus says he is the “Law of Moses.”

Then they have told many lies and have false advertising to get people to watch it.

Many links I share on my blog go to videos with teachers examining the series. But just to get you started to see just how bad it really is, here are some links to articles others have written:

Once again, without pouring through each and every link (though I appreciate the effort you put in), taking liberties in telling the story of Christ does not in itself constitute heresies. While I acknowledge some nonsense which corrupts, I doubt the atheist or less educated will notice. For example "I AM the Law of Moses" is not something which most would notice, and fewer would regard it as significant personally. I caught it when I saw it, and I'm not at all a scholar. But while greatly regrettable, I'm not going to trash the entire series.

Things put into the mouths of characters in the series is also a foolish quibble. To imagine any of the Apostles regarded John the Baptist as "creepy" doesn't strike me as being beyond possibility. It may even have been a common perception by those not followers of John, but deep in the Jewish faith nonetheless.

And yet again, what the actors and members of the crew believe personally isn't the least bit concerning to me so long as the outrageous doesn't find its way into the script.

I find it concerning that anyone would spend so much energy and emotion to trash the series and its creators rather than using it to teach. It's a compelling series by virtue of its professionalism, and that which strays from strict readings of Scripture can be discussed and clarified without pretending one will lose one's salvation for enjoying the show. For example, whenever the series comes up in conversation, I express my concern for flaws while enjoying it generally. If I'm asked about the flaws, now I have an opportunity to teach and encourage a deeper dive into actual Scripture by those with whom I'm engaged.

So long as there are not drastic and obvious heresies meant to push a leftist agenda, I will never discourage anyone from watching this series, particularly if it's actually promoting within them a desire to know more. I will discourage them from thinking the series is all they need to know what Scripture says, as that's not at all the case, and not even something Dallas Jenkins encourages.

I can't imagine how it feels to believe one is doing good in the name of Christ and to be so severely disparaged for daring to try. Worse, it seems Jenkins is accused of willfully doing harm. Some of the issues may even be simple mistakes ("I AM the Law of Moses", for example). HE should be called out for such and allowed to respond to the charge. Convince him of the seriousness of a mistake, and he might easily redo a scene or overdub the words with something more Biblical. There are likely a host of ways one might address concerns about the series without implying the Satanic.

So it doesn't matter that Jesus is blasphemed by showing him needing to practice and rehearse his Sermon on the Mount, with Matthew advising and writing for him? It doesn't matter that Peter blasphemes by saying God makes mistakes?
It doesn't matter that 95% of the series is made up out of thin air by people supporting the LGBTQ and Mormon agenda?

I'm really surprised at you that you think this garbage---100% garbage--is worthwhile as a witnessing tool, leading viewers to think this is what the Bible teaches.
