The big news this week is Rick Warren asking every one to fast and pray for God to help in the selection of the new pope. Roman Catholicism is, as demonstrated on this blog many times, an apostate organization. To pray that God would assist in such an apostasy is nothing less than blasphemous, and yet John Piper has agreed with Warren! Warren has been going more and more apostate over the years and only the apologetics ministries have been raising the alarm, while the Church at large continues to promote him and his books. His desire to have God participate in putting a new pope in an apostate religious system should be enough to have all Christians dropping him like a hot potato - but that will never happen.
Back to earlier last week, a United Methodist Seminary is contemplating removing the cross from their chapel so as to avoid offending believers of other religions. Of course, the school seems to no longer be a seminary, because after falling on hard times it transformed itself into a university, “devoted to jointly training Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and Jain clergy.” Once they did that, does it really matter whether they have the cross there? After all, they already compromised and joined with Baal as they sold themselves for money.
The new History Channel miniseries on the Bible has a lot of problems theologically, let alone just plain twisting the Bible in general, as I also noted in a previous post. The more information I read about the series, the more I am disgusted with how much praise it is getting from Christians. After all, it even misrepresents the sin of Sodom [link gone by 6/18/18] so as not to offend anyone! I was especially disappointed with Answers In Genesis, one of two creation ministries who gave the program support (I am not familiar with the other one, Creation Ministries International). Of course their support is due solely to the series’ depiction of Creation and the Flood, but just because the series has SOME truth, that is no reason to overlook the rest of the false teaching in it. But AIG gives it support because the series can be used for reaching unbelievers - which is the same excuse so many ministries and churches gave for supporting the Roman Catholic propaganda movie, “The Passion of Christ.” Well, this same excuse could be used to give support to Mormonism and other cults! After all, can’t we use their teachings to reach the lost?
Answers in Genesis always rightly complains about compromising in the Church, and here they are guilty of the same crime. I agree that we can use these programs, but that is NOT a reason to give them support; we can use them while condemning them at the same time. It is wrong to give them support and promotion.
Recovering Grace has a very good article about the emotional problems of those who have left cults or other mind-control situations. Too often people tell them to just “get over it,” but that is often easier said than done.
Joel Osteen has been exposed as a false teacher on this blog many times. I cannot believe his claim to be a Christian since he has demonstrated he has no clue of what the Gospel is. Elizabeth Prata has a very good article with much evidence agains Joel, demonstrating conclusively that this is a man who is spiritually dangerous to follow.

Thanks for this wonderful post.
I am so very tired of hearing "What does it matter" As long as they get the gospel right,
WHAT DOES IT MATTER what other errors are taught.???.
Thinking people should know Why It Matters - but it would appear far too many don't.
