We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Good, Bad and UGLY

More good stuff for your edification and education in things Christian—as well as some apologetical examinations!

An apologetics ministry sometimes has to address cultural issues and this article addresses the lie of “transgenderism” and how it violates God’s design for humans, as well as the danger to the lives of those who undergo bodily mutilations and drug therapies.

Jesse has an excellent examination of the Roman Catholic Eucharist. He also has an excellent older post with The Historical Development Of The Papacy.

Jesse has a lot of good articles examining various Catholic teachings; this one is about Mary being “Blessed Among Women.”

Did God Say…?  Excellent lesson from Stan.

Another lesson from Stan is “Mawage.” Some good thoughts about marriage.

Does the Bible Say Women Must be Silent in Church?

How music influences beliefs in the Church.  Reason enough to avoid music from Hillsong and Bethel.

BAD

New Apostolic Reformation is false teachers and false teachings.

"Jesus" from THE CHOSEN (Jonathan Roumie) venerates the corpse of "Saint Padre Pio” Another reason NO ONE should watch “The Chosen.”

Unfortunately, Beth Moore is still popular and obnoxious as a false teacher. Avoid her like the plague!

UGLY

German Catholic Bishops deny God’s creation of only two genders.

Benny Hinn is still a pawn of satan. This 43-minute video really exposes just how dangerous of a teacher he is.

Can we tell Angels what to do? Absolutely not, but there are some horrid false teachers claiming this.

Now a meme I found which should give Catholics some provoking thoughts.

“Prophets” and the solar eclipse.

Charismania is full of heresy and nonsense you need to be aware of to avoid.

The Pope hopes no one is in Hell?!? Proving once again that he does not understand the real Christian faith.

Another reason to not be taught by John Piper!

The Troubling Legacy of Tim Keller.  I have noted many times on this blog how much false teaching Keller has spewed. And yet I find solid teachers using his material and praising him.

Kathryn Krick is developing a cult following. I really wish this guy exposing her didn’t have this tight ball cap on backwards —I find it distracting that he’s trying to be cool. Teachers should not behave that way.

Jenny Weaver: This is the first I’ve heard of this false teacher—beware!  Here is another excellent examination of Weaver’s teachings.

CRU, aka Campus Crusade for Christ, has been LEFT for a long time but now they’ve crossed the Rubicon.

Is Joyce Meyer a False Teacher? Yes, 100%!

Same-Sex Unions and the Christian Faith

Alistair Begg is compromising on the LGBTQ agenda.  And he doubles/triples down so he’s removed from a conference.

This has led to the following well-written responses:

Why a Same-Sex Couple Could Never Practice Christian Marriage

And this, posted on Facebook, 2/2/23 by Famine in the Land:

Jesus attended a wedding in Cana. We don't have to guess the genders (God/Jesus created two) of the bride and groom, because -> "male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27), and "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). Paul quotes this verse in his epistle to the Ephesians, and then adds the following: "This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church" (Eph 5:32). In other words, marriage is a metaphor of Christ and the church - something holy.

Any marriage outside of what Scripture defines is immoral in God's sight, and not a marriage. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous" (Hebrews 13:4). We don't honor marriage or God by witnessing or celebrating an immoral union. A good testimony does not affirm sin, a good testimony distances itself from sin. The gospel is not advanced by compromising with this world. The gospel is advanced by proclaiming it and refusing to bow the knee to political correctness or popular culture.

Two people of the same sex can NEVER have a marriage. A “mirage,” perhaps, but not a marriage. And no Christian should ever even appear to celebrate or honor such an unholy union.

Here's another excellent article by Carl Trueman.

Alistair Begg is wrong, as are all those who agree with him.

UPDATE 3/8/24: If you still think it's okay to attend a fake marriage, I suggest you read, "Should a Christian Attend a Same-Sex Wedding?"

Some Recommended Good Reading

Who was St. Patrick, and should Christians celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?  Patrick was a “proto-protestant,” and not a Catholic.  I used to wear an orange shirt to work on St. Patty’s Day, with a British Union Jack on the pocket!

The cost of leaving cults and false teachings.

Regular readers (and new ones) have perhaps noticed that I don’t normally address the creation/evolution debate except from a biblical point of view, using proper hermeneutical principals. I also will expose as false teachers those who espouse progressive creation, theistic evolutionism, or any other old earth creation nonsense. Once in a great while I will slip and make note of scientific fallacy, but that is rare. For those looking for good scientific arguments there is Answers In Genesis, the Institute for Creation Research, and many other ministries with solid scientists who are young earth creationists. I will also point you to a site by a fellow blogger who DOES like to spend time with examining the scientific evidence for young earth creationism and against evolutionism, and here’s an example of the latter. Jesse also has excellent articles exposing the errors of Roman Catholicism, as well as other general apologetics issues; you may enjoy visiting his blog.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

John MacArthur isn’t going to be a bit popular with those churches approving homosexuality and same-sex fake marriage; he says they are “satan’s church.”  I have to agree with him there!

Approving homosexuality is one of the “17 signs that your church is becoming secular.”

Along this line, should Christians ever attend a same-sex fake wedding?  Absolutely not!  On April 14th I posted a link to an article explaining why a wedding is different than anything else, and it was a good discussion as to why a Christian should never, ever attend the “wedding” of homosexual people.

Tony Campolo again proves that he is a false teacher—a wolf among the flocks.  He is asserting that Christians should vote for Hillary Clinton for President of the U.S.A.   First, being a member of the Democrat party, she agrees with their party platform of supporting the homosexual agenda (including same-sex fake marriage), unrestricted abortion, sexual immorality in general, theft (redistribution of wealth), etc.  Other than than, Mrs. Clinton is one of the most corrupt politicians in history, as recent events have demonstrated with the many scandals in which she is involved.  No Christian should give any approval for Mrs. Clinton’s political aspirations.  Campolo is a dangerous wolf in sheep’s clothing; a rank heretic whom I’ve previously exposed.

IHOP’s Mike Bickle is a false teacher, as I have noted several times in the past.  A new site I’ve come across exposes Bickle’s propensity for twisting Scripture to justify his teachings.

Rick Warren teamed up with Dr. Mehmet Oz for his “Daniel Program,” totally ignoring Dr. Oz’s theological beliefs.  Well, now even the secular world has exposed Oz as a quack, yet Warren has remained silent.  Another example as to why Warren is not a teacher anyone should be following.

Lindsay has a good, short commentary on an article by Bill Muehlenberg, which is about the apostate church and “dhimmitude.”  Thought-provoking.

Remember my last report about Creflo Dollar’s seeking money for a $65 million jet?  Well, he isn’t happy with his critics—he thinks he should be able to want it and no one should criticize him for it!

Another Roman Catholic educational institution is violating Catholic teachings by having a “transgender” activist to have a speaking platform.  Will those who approved this be excommunicated?  Don’t hold your breath.  The problem of sexual perversion being promoted among Catholic schools is becoming routine because no disciplinary action is taken.

Here’s an important alert:  The Berean from Bible Tools teaches heresy.  If you use Bible Tools, cease doing so immediately so as to preserve your spiritual health.

As if  we need more evidence as to why Roma Downey’s TV “Bible” specials should be avoided, you really need to see her latest idea—The Women of the Bible.  Her cast of characters is a regular who’s who of female false teachers.

Here’s a good article explaining the problem with shows like Downey’s “Son of God” series, as well as any depiction of Jesus.

Finally, Neil Simpson has a good article about the horrible abuse of Philippians 4:13.  It is indeed one of the most abused Scriptures.

Jesus Addressed Homosexuality

It is naive and a desperate grasp at straws to argue that Jesus was only supporting one man and one woman in regards to the adultery question.  Jesus was speaking to a Jewish rabbi in front of a Jewish crowd regarding sexual morality.  And the Jews’ context for sexual immorality is found in Leviticus laws which states plain as day that homosexuality was wrong.

Random Apostasies and Heresies

Tim Challies has been doing a series on false teachers, with short biographies and explanations of their false teaching.  Most, but not all, have been well-known cult leaders.  I don’t think many people know who Charles Taze Russell was (founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses), so here’s a link to that article.  Also, I’m always surprised by people who don’t know what a heretic Norman Vincent Peale was.

Speaking of false teachers, I like what this guy has to say about Mark Driscoll.

Then there is the emergent heretic Tony Jones.

It looks like a movie is coming soon based on the best selling “Heaven Is For Real.”  The sad thing is that the majority of the people buying this junk appear to be Christians — who obviously lack discernment.  I’m sure the movie version will be sold out.  This book is but one among many books by people claiming to have visited heaven.  Can these visits be real?  NO.  They all contradict Scripture.

The Cripplegate has another article in their series about speaking in tongues.

I have often noted problems with modern “worship” songs used in the assemblies, and how many of them are the “Jesus is my boyfriend” type of drivel.  I was directed to an outstanding article about the sensuality of so many contemporary songs.  The author had an excellent question:  “What if a generation is being trained to feel saved rather than to be saved?”

Same-sex fake marriage is now legal in England.  The Archbishop of Canterbury said the Church of England will now drop their opposition to the unions.  We knew that would happen, didn’t we?  Just another apostate denomination making people feel good rather than telling them of their sin and their need for a savior.

World Vision learned about what happens when you approve same-sex fake marriage while claiming to be Christian.  The Cripplegate tells of four lessons learned in this incident.

Of course we all know by now about the flap with World Vision wanting to sanction same-sex unions.  Their turnabout got Rachel Held Evans all in a snit.  She thinks evangelicals have “won a culture war and lost a generation.”  To begin with, we’ve actually lost the culture war, but we knew we would - all we had to do was read what the Bible says about the end times.  But Evans, ever the false teacher she has proven to be, says:  “There is a disproportionate focus on homosexuality that consistently dehumanizes, stigmatizes and marginalizes gay and lesbian people and, at least in this case, prioritizes the culture war against them over and against the important work of caring for the poor.”  Of course what Evans pretends isn’t happening is that it is the homosexual activists who are forcing the focus on homosexuality by using the power of government to force Christians to either accept homosexuality or be punished.  But getting on to Evans’ statement, she teaches the social gospel rather than the gospel which saves.  Guess what, Rachel — the church’s calling is NOT the social gospel!!!   Chelsen Vicari has a good response to Evans.  As does Neil Simpson.

Anyway, according to Tony Jones and Rachel Evans, would-be Christians are being driven away from the church.  Is this true? Of course not, because if people really want to be Christians, they will follow Christ rather than false teachers like Jones and Evans.

With so many denominations - and non-denominational churches - accepting homosexuality as something good rather than the abomination God calls it, there are those who ask why we can’t just all “get along.”  Stan tells us the reason why.  Always remember that "Jesus already defined marriage for his creation."
