We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

The Heresy of Biologos

If anyone really needs more proof as to the unbiblical and heretical nature of the Biologos organization, just read their statement about human origins.

They claim Genesis is erroneous and evolution is true.  Their fallacious reasoning has been responded to so many times that it is hard to fathom why they use the same trite examples of why Genesis has to wrong. (Pay attention to the names they mention as references — these are more heretics!)

Don Veinot, in the 9/15/16 Midwest Christian Outreach e-mail news, provides a good response:
If this is true, Genesis is little more than faith fables and Jesus, who the New Testament describes as being God by whom all things were created was simply a scientific illiterate since He believed and affirmed the historicity of Adam and Eve.

One other thought. About 15-20 years I was asked to debate a professor at a local college on creation vs. evolution. I proposed that if we granted as a starting point that the universe just popped into existence and some primordial soup just happened to appear on one rock in space we now call earth and in that very hostile environment and 21 amino acids popped into existence, somehow joined themselves together, continued by some miracle to continue existing as the spark of life. If all of that was in place as a starting point, how did we get from a-sexual reproduction to male-female sexual reproduction? What were the incremental steps in between? In fact, male-female reproduction is so complex that all parts must be in place and working in order for reproduction to occur. You would need a fully functioning male to pop into existence ready to reproduce. A fully functioning female to pop into place ready to reproduce. This would have to happen at about the same time in history and it would have to happen in about the same geographical location. How would Darwinism account for what would seem to be a miraculous creation event? After few minutes of silence the professor said that he did not know but that someday those answers would be discovered. My response? "And you know this by faith?" That seemed to end the debate. I am not sure the authors of the new book are on any better ground.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Typical worship service at Ed Young’s goat pen.  Why do people think this is what church is for?!?!

Jonathan Cahn continues to demonstrate why he has no business being a Bible teacher.

YES — Priscilla Shirer is a bonafide false teacher!  There is no debate about it.

Calvary Chapel is going farther and farther into apostasy.

An e-mail from the undiscerning.  Some good thoughts about defending the faith — and the need for it.

Gary Gilley’s review of “The Circle Maker” and its false teachings.

The “Code Orange Revival” is in progress, and being a program initiated by Steven Furtick, we can imagine what it is like.  Ah, but the doctrines espoused lead to a Bible challenge!  This is indeed a gathering of goat-herds.  The name for the event is actually quite ironic.

In April I linked to an article by Lyndon Unger beginning a series exposing the false teaching about “generational curses.”  Somehow I missed part 2 of the series, and now Lyndon has part 3 posted.  The series is well worth reading.

Doubt is NOT a sign of humility and non-judgmentalism; it is a sign of denying the faith.

Sadly, this is what passes for “worship” at too many goat-pens.

Hey Andy Stanley, what about the Bible passage about not suing fellow Christians (1 Cor. 6:1-8)?  Oh, wait.  I forgot that to Andy the Bible isn’t important.

Ellen White was a false prophet from the beginning, and no matter how close she turned toward orthodoxy it won’t change that fact.

Lastly, Mary Dalke has posted another “chapter” in her series on Roman Catholicism.  She’s doing an excellent job with lots of work involved.

No Crowd With the Christian Life

You must start by realizing that, by becoming a Christian, you become something exceptional and unusual.  You are making a break with the world, and with the crowd, and with the vast majority of people.  It is inevitable; and it is important that we should know it.  The Christian way of life is not popular.  It never has been popular, and it is not popular today.  It is unusual, exceptional, strange, and it is different.  On the other hand, crowding through the wide gate and travelling along the broad way is the thing that everybody else seems to be doing.  You deliberately get out of that crowd and you start making your way towards this strait and narrow gate, alone.  You cannot take the crowd with you into the Christian life: it inevitably involves a break.

The Christian Man (and Woman)

The Christian is a man who should walk through this life as conscious that it is but transient and passing, a kind of preparatory school.  He should always know that he is walking in the presence of God, and that he is going on to meet God; and that thought should determine and control the whole of his life.

Random Good Things For Edification

What does being a husband mean?

Things you should know about male headship.

Things you should know about female submission.

Biblical modesty for women.

What about the long ending of the Gospel of Mark — does it belong?

Good reviews of two Ben Hur movies — 1959 and 2016.  Much of what the review says about the 1959 version I had also seen problematic.

A biblical defense of discernment ministries.

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It's that time again, but you may ask why we apologists report about the false teaching and false teachers -- TO EXPOSE THE WOLVES!

The Polemics Report has coined some terms to describe new heresies.  Some are just new “technical” words for well-know heresies (such as Word of Faith), but I found these to be worthwhile:
Theoerosism — “erotic love for God.”
Vinism — Gay theology

The “Code” used by Steven Furtick and his goat-pen, Elevation Church.  I wonder if they even know what the Bible is?  H/T to one of my readers for pointing me to this article.

You can’t make this stuff up.  Be sure to read all the way through to see even the stuff about Lisa Bevere.

The Pope continually proves he has no clue about the Christian faith or the things of God, as he kowtows to all the LEFTIST ideology.  There is no evidence than man can do anything to change our climate, yet he has bought into all the leftist talking points and has declared it a sin against God.  If you aren’t an environmentalist, you are sinning according to him.  The Pope teaches the social gospel on top of the heretical Catholic doctrines.  Of course promoting all the LEFTIST ideologies just helps promote the one-world religion.

Mother Teresa is now a Catholic saint — but was she a saved Christian?  Sadly, the answer has to be, “no.”

Listen to false teacher Ed Young talk about how you need to tithe.  I’m still trying to find where he gets his support without twisting Scripture.

Andy Stanley — Again.  He really needs to get another job.  Here is another excellent review of this sermon.

A troubling situation developing with the joining of two cultic groups.

I’ve previously addressed the fact that Jeremiah 29:11 does not apply to the Christian, rather it was about Israel and only Israel.  Many people have discounted my article because I’m not a lettered theologian.  Okay, so let’s hear Gregory Kouki say pretty much the same thing I’ve said and perhaps people will finally accept the truth.

More proof that the “Church by the Glades” is nothing more than a goat-pen full of self-worshipping goats.

More proof that the ELCA denomination is totally apostate.

Just a reminder that there is a good site exposing the dangerous false teachings of “Adventures in Missions” and “The World Race,” as well as the leader Seth Barnes.  If you’re like me and never heard of this stuff before, get the word out to those who need to know.

The Seventh-day Adventists don’t like the idea of hell, so they’ve erased it from their “Bible.

Skip Moen, one of the movers and shakers of the Hebrews Roots Movement, denies the Trinity.

A good article about what has happened to the Church since the “emergent” movement began, which just added to the already corrupt social gospel.  He even names some of the vicious wolves.

It’s a nightmare — Perry Noble says he’s coming back to being a vicious wolf!  (I disagree that he is an “alcoholic” or suffers from “alcoholism” — this malady was invented to take responsibility away from the individual by calling it an illness.  The Bible calls it drunkenness.)

The Assembly Is NOT Open for “Homosexuals”

Biblically speaking, apart from repentance and restoration, there is no way in which a local church may allow into fellowship and service those who are living a lifestyle which is in opposition to the most basic of Scripture’s moral requirements.  To allow such to minister in the church without confrontation is also to do them a great disservice.  We are in essence deceiving them into thinking that all is well with them and the Lord and the Lord’s Church. …

A church must remove practicing homosexuals who claim to be believers from their fellowship (1 Corinthians 5).  Making them comfortable and providing them a safe environment within the church, as some are advocating, is to minimize the gravity of their sin and falsely assure them that all is well with them and the Lord.  In addition, there is the danger of their attitude toward homosexuality infiltrating the thinking of other believers.

Spiritual Worldlings

There are so many people who can be described as spiritual worldlings.  If you talk to them about salvation they have the correct view; but if you talk to them about life in general they are worldlings.  When it is a matter of the salvation of the soul they have the correct answer; but if you listen to their ordinary conversation about life in this world you will discover a heathen philosophy.

WELL SAID!!!

Thanks to J.L. Pattison

Not All Are God’s Children

The world today believes in the universal Fatherhood of God and the universal brotherhood of man.  That is not found in the Bible.  It was our Lord who said to certain religious Jews that they were “of their father the devil,” and not children of Abraham, not children of God.  It is only to “as many as receive him” that He gives the right (the authority) “to become the sons of God.”
