As an additional insight; I said at the beginning that the picture on the left was Trump mocking the pope and not pretending to be Jesus. Here are photos of the pope with the red sash.

You would bend over backwards to defend any statement that Trump makes.
Oh, so you now read my mind. Your statement is a bald-faced lie. There are a lot of things he says that I think are stupid and shouldn't be said. The point of this post is that Trump did not make the pictures, but he stupidly posted them.
Hi Glenn,
The additional photos you added are very pertinent. The Catholic pope pretends to stand in for Jesus Christ on earth every day, and billions of people are fine with that, yet people charge Trump with blasphemy when depicted in a similar way. The blind adoration of Trump--or any man--is sheer foolishness, of course (and Trump should be attending to more important tasks than “mocking the pope” in this manner, in my opinion). In any event, the hypocrisy revealed through this incident is very telling.
For my part, when being so accused as you've accused Glenn, the reality is that it's rarely a matter of defending Trump as it pointing out the foolishness of the comment about Trump. As Glenn says, Trump's not beyond saying things he shouldn't or simply didn't need to say. It's rare when what he's said is deserving of such attention and scorn, except that that's exactly the purpose of criticizing him.
