Lots of stuff today, for another rocky ride; hold on to your hats!
First up, Is the Bible Full of Contradictions? It’s a 53 minute video.
Gary E. Gilley did a three-part examination of the emerging church back in 2006. You can read this series here, here, and here.
Discernment diagnostics — some good tests!
Anna McCarthy — another blogger pretending to be a Christian with good advice. She’s certainly one to avoid!
I can certainly empathize!
Catholic gullibility. H/T Doug
“Thousands of conversions”?!?! Conversions to what? These charismaniacs keep regurgitating the same false revivals with the same false “signs and wonders.” People are so gullible — which is very sad.
This should be a no-brainer. A pastor who commits adultery should never be in the pulpit — or any leadership position — again.
So why does Tim Keller allow this man to remain on staff?
The false apostles of the NAR — another good episode from Doug Evans
The greed of the top false prophet of the NAR is putrid.
I never cared for Oswald Chambers’ devotionals/teachings because I found them to be mostly fluff. Yes, he had some good worldview things to say, and I would have no problem sharing some citations from him, but I could never recommend him as a teacher. Now I can explain why. (Steve Bricker also has an example of problems with Chambers.)
Are you guilty of “confirmation bias”?
SBC president Ronnie Floyd is at it again. Why does the SBC not throw him out?
The Proclamation Magazine now has an on-line pdf version (for those unaware, this magazine is by ex-SDA members and has some really good articles about the SDA, as well as some articles of general interest for Christians). Some good information about Ellen White and changes the Seventh-day Adventists are making to more-or-less hide how they see her teachings and “prophecies,” as well as an examination of the Hebrew Roots Movement’s cultic false teachings. (SDA members literally HATE this magazine and viciously attack it — they hate the truth.)
I don’t think I’ve posted this before, but it is a perfect example of the false teachings of Beth Moore. And now she’s promoting “binding prayers”!
More apostasy from the Church by the Glades.
Finally
If the leadership of the United Methodist Church had done their jobs, and if they WOULD do their jobs, the invasion of that denomination by sexual perverts would never have taken place. But the UMC has chosen the way of the social gospel and has even put women in the pulpits, both in violation of Scripture. They deserve what they get for their apostasy.
Steve Chalke long ago was swayed to the “dark side,” and will now perform same-sex fake marriages.

"This should be a no-brainer"... and yet sadly, Glenn, it's not. We've witnessed a local pastor admit to "moral failure" (the new "it" phrase (read: euphemism) for sexual immorality"), step down, but after a few years, still be addressed publicly as "pastor" and accepted as an elder by area leadership. When we heard that, my husband and I sat there, mouths agape.
We agree with you - and the remnant (remnant!) of leaders who see immorality as a disqualifying sin. Grace To You recently addressed the issue in their blog, and MacArthur has preached on it several times.
Wow, this just left me incredibly sad. How far we've fallen.

Good find about the man on Tim Keller's staff. Yet people still defend Tim Keller, even in the comments to that article. I sent the link on to some people in Redeemer church plants. Perhaps they turn on pressure from the inside.
When you elevate reason to the level of Scripture, you're doing the same thing as the Medieval Scholastics. We saw where that led.
Excellent collection.

Thanks for linking the Oswald Chambers articles. I started to read My Upmost for His Highest when I was a teen and it filled me with such guilt and inferiority, with the thoughts that I could never follow God with that much devotion. I was also heavily involved in Bill Gothard's institute, so I was being taught wrong anyway, that one must do good works to be loved by God. That thinking held me in bondage for nearly 35 years: now I know that I do good because of the great love God has bestowed on me, not because I'm trying to "gain" salvation. [Silly me, the same lie that my brother was trying to attain in Mormanism and the same lie my friend was trying to attain in Jehovah's Witness, I was trying to attain in Christianity.]
I threw away that copy long ago but in the last several years, picked up another at a book sale, thinking I'd give it another go someday, since it was such a classic, right. I hadn't looked at, and noticed the tell-tale sign of an awful devotional: one tiny phrase of God's precious Word then a page of man's idea, that doesn't necessarily match up to the phrase in the first place, or worse, takes that phrase totally out of concept. If I had only thumbed thru it for 10 seconds, I would have noticed that instead of keeping it proudly on my bookshelf, LOL.
Patrick,
Your comment will not be posted, since it really doesn’t address this article, and because it is obvious that you are a troll looking for blogs to promote your false teachings.
However, I do want to point out that, contrary to your ignorant and brainwashed claim, the Roman Catholic Church did not begin to exist until the 4th century. It had nothing to do with the origin of the Bible, and their “Sacred Tradition” is all invented by man.
Every item on this blog which either mentions or discusses Roman Catholicism presents that religion with 100% accuracy.
Now go troll elsewhere.
