Random Apostasies and Heresies

Here it is time for another post about things to watch out for in the “Church.”

Almost a year ago I posted a link to a review of Sarah Young’s book, “Jesus Calling.”  Well the book is still being a big seller, and still being promoted by non-discerning Christians.  An new review out last week should be perused by anyone who thinks what Young is teaching is orthodox.  Other good reviews are to found at:  The End Time blog,  Stand Up For the TruthSola SistersDo Not Be Surprised..., and Tim Challies.

Christianity Today Astray has done it again.  In their reporting on the Ark Encounter they say that the funding for it has declined, and yet according to Answers In Genesis this is not a bit true.  This magazine is not a trusted source for the Christian faith, as I have demonstrated in the past.  Previously I have reported on their stance in regards to Genesis being historical, their promotion of the occultic Harry Potter stories, that they have gone on record against spanking children by twisting Scripture to suit their agenda, their positive interview with Mary Neal, author of a book about her visit to heaven, and a positive review of “The Office” TV show.  CT just cannot be trusted.

I saw an interesting video posted on The Bumbling Genius blog which demonstrated just how poorly our young people are discipled in the Christian faith.  Of course, I have seen older adults with the same ideology, which is even more sad coming from those who claim the name of Christ.  As Danny points out, this is the modern day Pharisee.

Rachel Held Evans is still promoting false teachings disguised as Christian.   She has no problem with sexual perversion and “celebrated” the closing of Exodus International.  Her popularity is, of course, because she is a false teacher.  Let the reader be warned against listening to this wolf.

I’ve heard a lot of young people calling themselves “Jesus Followers” rather than “Christian,” because, they claim, the name “Christian” has a lot of culture baggage with intolerance, etc.  I think it is a foolish mistake, one which seems to be borne out of a “holier than you” attitude.  Kevin DeYoung has a good article about why we need to keep the name “Christian.”

Next month we have “Wild Goose Festival” joining all sorts of false teachings in one place.  This time they will even be celebrating sexual perversion.

  1. No shock with Fuller. Much error has come out of that joint. Just look at the notables who are amongst their alumni... Rick Warren and Rob Bell and John Piper.

As for Christianity ASTRAY's false reporting on AiG, SHAME ON THEM.

Oh - a heads up, if you haven't already seen it - Elizabeth Prata just posted about the newest heretical bible - "The Religion Free Bible". Apostasy at an all time low.

I praise God that my husband and I have no interest in any of these false authors/preachers/teachers named in this roundup.

I thank God for our faithful brothers and sisters in the Lord, like you.

  3. It is bewildering to me why so many "chritians" gravitate to unchristian teachers, preachers, talk show host or literature instead of attaching themselves to the True Vine and The Word.

The articles you present should show the remnant how desperately needy for pray and intercession the body truly is.
