The Good - For Education and/or Edification
Great response to Beth Moore and her ilk.

Was Mary Magdalene Far from or Near the Cross? A Case Study in Gospel Differences.

Who is your Jesus?

The current perversion of John 8:1-11. Scripture-twisting to prepare for.

Was Jesus married to Mary Magdalene?  Short answer —NO!

HMMMM

More Wolves and False Teachings
The Church without a name; the Two by Twos.

A whole collection of articles proving what a false teacher is Michael Brown.

Steven Furtick and his Elevation Church are from hell.

More wackiness with Bethel Redding. Bethel healing rooms are cancelled due to the coronavirus. I guess you don’t need any more proof than that to know Bethel is a hot bed of false teachers and heretics. And don’t forget that one of their cadre is false prophet/teacher Kris Vallotton, who is really going off the deep end.

  1. Wow...Kris Valloton is really losing it, it seems...it makes me sad that I know so many people who like him and follow him.

  2. Hi Glenn,

Thank you for covering the serious issue with Tim Challies. I saw it at P&P as well as RefCharlotte. Sad to say, I consider his soft-pedaling to be far more dangerous than when someone like Beth Moore does it, because while she is easily seen as a false teacher (so her waffling is no shock), Challies has been known for sound doctrine and "informing the reformed" for many, many years with his self-named website. He also has far more clout than BM has, and that clout is with a sound, sober minded and influential camp of believers.

Personally, I stopped paying attention to him a long time ago, when he did book reviews for Mark Driscoll's books and gave them a pass. I remember he said something like "he wouldn't want his wife to read Driscoll's books, but they're ok for the church". Right then and there, I quit looking at anything from him.

Wasn't there a big open letter to BM about this same issue? Yet, for the most part I'm hearing crickets about Challies. However, his apparent departure from a Scriptural position in this matter is far more serious that BM's!

  3. PS -

I noticed the video in the P&P article of Challies making those seriously compromised statements has now been removed...

But it was there. And he did say those things.

  4. TChallies is showing his true colors. His subtle mockery of homeschoolers was offensive to me...a homeschooling Mom. After that, I completely crossed him off my list... Sound the alarm from the watchtower that he is not trustworthy and do not sit under his teachings. May he repent of his rebellion against God.

  5. Carolyn,

Yes, a lot of teachers who say things they shouldn't have seem to quickly get the evidence expunged.

  6. Glenn,

So true that teachers do like to expunge evidence of their errors. Also true that believers seldom will criticize anyone in their own camp. Same problem found in other camps, they'll take issue with it (and usually quite loudly), but when it hits close to home, the thing most often heard is crickets.

I checked, the article at Reformation Charlotte still has an active video link. Just so I could hear it with my own ears, I watched the video. I did so while reading the P&P article, to check what they said for accuracy. Yes, the quotes drawn from the video are just as P&P reported (minor transcriptional variation, but meaning was not altered). Challies actually said more than just what P&P highlighted, and his whole answer was, imo, nothing more than a tap dance. Challies said it: he's being deliberately evasive.

  8. Jesse,

Not yet. One incident does not make one a wolf unless it is a serious doctrinal issue. We are watching him though.
