Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

Another abused passage examined:  Matthew 25:34-46

One of my readers brought to my attention this excellent article about problems with “contemporary worship” music.

“Scottgate” — a deplorable happening in the Church of Scotland.

Heretic Jim Bakker should be sent back to jail for fraud.  This guy always has another gimmick to rake in the dough.  But the delusion of those who defend him is even more bizarre!

These UMC and Episcopal clergy are not representatives of Christ or God, rather they represent the devil and his evil.

Did the Early Church Believe in Transubstantiation?  Excellent article proving that they didn’t!

NAR “apostles” and “social justice.”  These people are getting nuttier and nuttier.  What is scary is that they promote so much false teaching and yet Russell Moore of the SBC is promoting these people!!!

Wow!  Focus on the Family seems to be more focused on destroying the family!

O FOOLISH CHRISTIAN, WHO HATH BEWITCHED YOU?  Excellent discussion of real spiritual warfare vs the fraudulent version.

Why are Christians, especially Al Mohler, apologizing to homosexuals activists?!?!

How about some humor to end with?

  1. Hi Glenn,

Christian radio, I agree, very unnecessary. Our local station has some good teachers, but they are getting farther and fewer between. The worst part is the music. IT. IS. AWFUL. We stopped listening years ago.

Focus - if I'm not mistaken, they've been heavily psychology-based for a long time now. Not surprised by their current trajectory. Nonetheless, the "best" part of that article, though, were the comments... there were some real gentlemen participating in that discussion, there. (Here's a capital-H Hint, to the "gentlemen" who commented there, in case they show up here: foul language and crass references to intimacy are not depictions of how manly you are, they are crude and sophomoric. My husband is a strong man, a real gentleman, and his speech is godly and wholesome (Eph 4:29). If you're looking for a Proverbs 31/Eph 5:22,33/1 Peter 3:1 woman, you'll need to apply some Fels Naptha to your mouth, and have Christ do a bit more work in your hearts to fix the attitude that requires the aforementioned soap (Matt 15:18).)

Mohler - sad. Reminds me though of the mentality the big leaders in the church have had toward in-house child abuse scandals (cough, SGM, cough). Milquetoast at best... abhorrent at worst.

  2. Thank you for sharing my article, Glenn.

I love the Faith Healers skit - "Faith healers bubblegum cards" – I wonder how much a Kathryn Kuhlman rookie card would go for?

  3. Carolyn,

I whole-heartedly agree with you about the language issue. I get really disgusted with, and lose respect for, those people who use crass/foul language. There is no need for it, especially with Christians who should be using wholesome language. I always say it just shows their lack of command of the English language! That was one of the problems with Mark Driscoll.

  4. Pamela,

You are quite welcome. I find the what I consider the best of the week for informing people.

Have you seen the video where Benny Hinn is using a light saber to slay people in the "spirit"? It's hysterical.

  5. Thanks Glen for the yoga article. This Hindu practice which is a part of their pagan religion is alive and well within ALL denominations, from the charismatic/Pentecostal, the catholic, the Lutheran, to the Baptist churches in our area. Yoga has been accepted as an exercise/meditation practice to keep the body and mind fit, with the very influential people within our churched promoting this paganism. The churches accept this practice for they have been told that is it good for you and few have researched and spoken out against this form of pagan ecumenism.

However, a few born again believers have confronted this issue head on, and to the churches' disgrace, were mocked, scorned, and shunned, for the leadership and influential/important people within the churches do a great job of ripping their opposition to pieces!

Yes, paganism is alive and well within the American church system.

  6. Hi Glenn,

Yes, after I sent my comment, I said to myself "And that [crass speech] was one of the core issues with Driscoll...". To which I might add, "...that the church was, and in many ways still is, blind to."

Pamela - what about Normal Vincent Peale cards? (haha)

Anon 6:49 10/19, on yoga, you are correct on all counts. Especially the reaction one gets if you, as you said, confront this issue head on.
