A song recently used for worship had me scratching my head, because until you get almost to the end you have no idea who the subject is, and until then you wonder if it is sung to a boyfriend or a girlfriend (oh, I guess in the 2nd line the mention of a cross is supposed to do). Alas, it is another of the “Jesus is my boyfriend” genre. What is it with “worship leaders” who find this junk food edifying, or even useful for worship? Take a look at the lyrics; I see no intrinsic value in this song for corporate worship.

Am I off base here? I just have a difficult time singing “how beautiful you are" to a man!
Oh c'mon, you're being too picky..."No eye has seen, no ear has heard" is clearly straight from the Bible. So that makes it just fine.

I was actually surprised when a new song we sang was actually accurate about the end times. But then I noticed that every line was basically straight from scripture, so of course it was accurate. Funny how that works.
I'm female and do have a problem singing these type of goopy love songs to Christ Jesus the King. I can't imagine how much worse it is for the men.
Oh no. Matt Redman's "Let My Words be Few" is even worse.....when you get to the chorus. Oh it's actually painful watching the guys in church.....and I like Redmond's music generally! What were they thinking...
