Unloving?

  1. What never ceases to amaze me is how many Christians, including pastors, get so upset when you show them about a false teacher!

Go ahead! Point out that Warren/Hybels/Stanley/et al are dangerous... or how deceiving Beth Moore, TerKeurst, J Meyer, and other such women "teachers" are... point out the disqualifying behavior of "bad boys" like Driscoll... you name it, just point out error and watch the reaction!!! Seldom does one ever get thanked.

    I know you've been there... :)

  2. That's the exact look I received when attempting to share with a woman leader in the Assembly of God church system, that no, being "slain in the spirit or drunk in the spirit" is not in our Bibles. Our LORD, is the God of order, not chaos, and He tells us that we should "be sober," not drunk with wine or any other "spirit."

Many church members love to add their extra-Biblical doctrines to the Word our LORD gave us and when challenged, these churched folks lose their 'charming' faculties and the fruits of the Spirit are forgotten, for these individuals can get down right nasty when defending their favorite wolf and their pet doctrines of demons!

  3. You've nailed it, Glenn.

Just as Carolyn and Martha have related, many Christians are more wed to their favorite writers/pastors and their teachings than they may readily admit.

Last week a Bible-believing friend became verbally aggressive after I declined to support his use of Dreher's Benedict Option in reforming his church. When he continued to push Dreher's model for "intentional spiritual community" (my friend's words) and made the statement that Dreher was a "dear Christian brother", I pointed out the inconsistency of considering someone a brother when they openly teach another gospel (denial of justification by faith).

Happy end to the story though. He came back later and while not admitting Dreher was a false teacher said, "I am leaning to the view that he is not regenerated, but very religious, though I cannot be certain."
