What Matters is if You're in the Kingdom

What matters is not how you came into the Kingdom; the vital question is, Are you in the Kingdom?  It matters not whether your birth was a dramatic, exciting one, or whether it was quiet and almost unobservable.  Thank God, it does not matter!  Nowhere are we told in the Scripture that you have to be able to give the precise moment, or the precise verse that was used, or the name of a certain preacher.  These things do not matter.  The one thing that matters is that you should be in the Kingdom.

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Christian Unity: An Exposition of Ephesians 4:1-16, p.89

  1. "Nowhere are we told in the Scripture..."

Isn't it amazing how many "trappings" we have added to the requirements for salvation?

I have no recollection of the verse read to me when I was saved, I only knew then, as I know now, that it was the first time in my life I had heard the gospel and I was attracted to it like insects to light.

    Lloyd-Jones was absolutely right.

  3. I thought i was, but through the years was shown was so strayed. I am asking forgiveness for the pride, the hardened neck, not submitting to spouse, not knowing how to love although Jesus showed. It is not the church going, the tithing and appearing holy that God wanted, but the right heart, that worships in spirit and truth. Please help me, God.
