History Is Explained by the Doctrine of Sin

I am asserting that you cannot understand life as it is in this world at this moment unless you understand this biblical doctrine of sin.  I go further, I suggest that you cannot understand the whole of human history apart from this, with all its wars and its quarrels and its conquests, its calamities, and all that it records.  I assert that there is not adequate explanation save in the biblical doctrine of sin.  The history of the world can only be understood truly in the light of this great biblical doctrine of man, fallen and in sin.  Read your books on the philosophy of history and you will find that they fumble.  They do not know how to interpret the facts, they cannot give an adequate explanation; all their ideas are utterly falsified by history.  That is because they never realise that the starting point is man’s fallen sinful condition.

  1. Failure to recognize the reality of sin has resulted in all sorts of stupid conclusions and stupid decisions by governments and individuals throughout history. The problem continues today. The idea that humanity is "basically good" is a lie from the father of lies.

  3. The quote you post is true by Mr. Jones and the comment above by Mr. Livesay reaffirms this position.

This is the phrase I hear in today's church, literally, "Oh, I don't do anything wrong."

No sin? No Jesus; the result equals a Christless church.
