I go to the church building made with human hands so I can sing songs that are relatively easy to follow, for most of the words are:

Please join in the contemporary song if you please:

"I, I, I, I I I I I I
Me, Me, Me, Me Me Me Me Me
I, I, I, more and more of I
Me, Me, Me, and more and more of Me
I live for you because I am
I want to know you more because there is more of me
I give my life to you while singing of me
Because I love you lord there is only me
I, I, I am so greatly in love with you
Because there is so much of me
Everyone wants what I have
Because its just me, me, and so much more of me.

And the god of this world loves this jibberish so.

We have come a long way from,

"My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part, but the whole,
Was nailed to that cross
And I bear it no more
Praise the LORD, Praise the LORD
Oh, my soul"

"It is well, it is well, it is well, it is well, with my soul"

'Nuff said.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6043971967398769903.post-38127554984312155302016-03-31T13:39:24.093-05:002016-03-31T13:39:24.093-05:00Kathryn, you nailed it.

Anyway, here is an excellent comment by Doug Evans:

Yesterday I heard "Forever and Ever Amen" played as a worship song. "Forever and Ever Amen" has nothing to do with worship, God, Jesus, salvation, scripture, it's just a nice country ditty recorded by Randy Travis that contains the word "Amen"

Discernment - too many congregations it's not just a word, it's a noun!
Glenn E. The Church did not contend for the faith. 3. The Church looked the other way at a rotting culture with no voice to call the nation to repentance. 4. Pastors quit being biblically sound shepherds. 5. Believers quit seeing life with a biblical worldview.
These are generally my thoughts and these 5 points don't hold for everyone, of course. Elijah thought he was the only faithful man left, but God had His own that he knew. And, we are living in the last days when things wax worse, as prophesied.

KathrynAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
