    I never did understand why churches sing “Holy Spirit rain down”, calling upon the Lord to come to the church service, when supposedly those singing were already saved and were possessors of the Holy Spirit.

      One thought that occurred to me regarding beseeching the Holy Spirit’s presence this way was that we can’t assume that all those in attendance at a church service are truly born-again; therefore, we might be led to ask the Holy Spirit to come and work (in those not saved) through the preaching of the Word, singing, etc., that is taking place there during the service. The Holy Spirit won’t enter believers anew, of course, but He might come down upon brand-new converts.

    This is the Charismatic nonsense, and most likely the majority of their congregations are not saved to begin with!
