We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Where IS That guy?

I haven’t posted anything since last Monday and that is a long time for me.  I’ve been busy with so many things.

It all started on election day; we decided to vote early and stay away from home for the day having fun to get away from all the political nonsense.  So we decided to go photograph a country school about 130 miles away - before it was torn down (total drive with searching around ended up being 300 miles).  Well, I found information about four other schools along our route, so we figured it would be a good “haul.”  The first school was unable to be located due to not enough information and locals had no idea.  Oh well.  We got the second school, and continued to the third school before stopping for lunch at Sonic in Ottumwa.  After lunch we located that destination school and then went to find the final school; no where to be found.  Well, later in the week I asked the person who gave me information about it and was told that it had been a while since they saw it, and further investigation led to discovering it had been torn down years ago.  I hate wild goose chases.

Another day we had company over, then there was Veterans Day activities.

Saturday we drove 155 miles west for a wedding reception (wedding was in August).  But since it was at 2 PM we decided to use our time going that direction to stop and check the progress of another school we previously photographed prior to restoration efforts and then stop at the nearby outlet mall for about 30 min.  Continuing west we went after another school we recently learned about.  From there we continued to Camp Dodge, north of Des Moines, to see the Gold Star Military Museum.  Unfortunately our time was getting short so we only spent an hour there before heading for the last school, which was 20 minutes from our destination.  We got home late evening.

With the good weather we’ve spent a lot of time in the yard getting gardens ready for winter, trimming trees, painting and repairing on the days we were home.  And of course practicing with the bagpipes for an upcoming gig with the band.

But I’ve also been spending time on reviewing the 6th grade Awana book and it is a doozy!  It will be some time before I get it posted.  Additionally, I’ve spent a lot of time responding to various requests for information about cults and false teachers.

So far it looks good for getting a “RAAH” post out tomorrow.

Figured since your wife was still posting on her blog, and some things popped up on The Thought Provoker, you were "around somewhere".

She doesn't play fair -- she has a whole bunch of drafts waiting so it takes her only a minute to post something! I don't draft ahead of time unless we're going on a trip.

Sounds like you have been having fun! Enjoy the weather before it turns cold!

Glen,

I don't know if you are aware of this, perhaps you are, that Awana promotes contemplative/mystical prayer which encourages receiving extra-Biblical revelation that is no where to be found in our Scriptures.

I would not take my children to Awana. Sorry Glen.

Martha,

I am aware of the problem with the operation itself, but as far as I know this hasn't filtered down to the Awana clubs;
